I must object to mixing Jack with "Diet" Coke!
best regards, lm
Oh yes, lm! I quite agree.
-
Never was a beer drinker. Tom recommended Greens and the review says it's similar to IPA.
-
If you are a true beer lover, as I was! You will hate Red-bridge, and, I will deem it the worst beer I ever drank!
Give up, my beer drinking friend, there is no good beer for you.
But!!!!
Jack Daniels is "proven" Gluten free!!! Nothing like a Jack and Diet Coke, with a plate full of good 'Ol fried food!
You must learn a new way to drink, (and eat my friend). Sorry for my sloppy typing!. Im eating a fresh killed deer as I type!!!! I suggest getting a gun and learning to kill your own food. Wild game is everywhere and very tasty! Not only is it nutritus, its fun to kill, and eat as well!!!!
Deer can be ground into burger, and you cant tell it from beef.
Also you can make squirrel stew, fried squirrel, fried rabbit, (if you dont know, use Bobs Red Mill All Purpose Flour.
What else can you eat?
Quail
Muskrat (wonderfull!)
Wild Hogs
Dove
And depending on where you live< Moose, Elk, Antelope, Beaver, Bobcat, Badger, Duck, Goose, Coot, Jack Rabbit, Porcupine, Groundhog.
If it moves, it will feed you. And it is Gluten free!
Want to feel proud????
Kill your own meat, grow your own vegetables, and drink good Kentucky Whiskey!
Ahhhhhhhh!!!! Life is good my friend.
Fend for yourself, and leave the rest to the shallow idiots who eat every meat at McDonalds, Wendy's and Taco Bell!!
Arkansas, huh?

Looks gluten free to me, but wouldn't a little haf&half sound better?
Learning to read labels makes you more aware of the chemicals that we ingest....yuck.

What are the ingredients?

Hi....
Has anyone on here done an Herb Colon Cleanse? What were your results, good or bad? Is this something you'd advise us doing or not?
Thanks.
Del
Colon Cleansing can be very dangerous. I would not advise.
-
Hi Jerry,
I'm glad to hear from you and glad that you are doing well. We have a few "non-believers" here that could use your sage advise.

I checked them today at my grocery store and they still have the old boxes.
Me too.

"There are well accepted criteria for the detection and diagnosis of CELIAC DISEASE."
Keep in mind, that the article only refers to diagnosing Celiac Disease, not a gluten intolerance/allergy/sensitivity. To my knowledge, Enterolabs has never claimed to diagnose.

This is a recently released study done by the Mayo:

"There are well accepted criteria for the detection and diagnosis of celiac disease. The tests used to fulfill these criteria have been subjected to scientific scrutiny and validation. To our knowledge tests of antibodies in stool or saliva have not been validated as a robust test for the diagnosis of celiac disease. Many insurance companies base their decision to cover the costs of testing on the scientific evidence that supports the testing of that individual (indication) and the actual test used (validation).
Our organization relies on the expertise of its physician members, as well as the recommendations of the:
- American College of Gastroenterology;
- North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN);
- NIH Consensus Panel on Celiac Disease; and
- Childrens Digestive Health and Nutrition Foundation
for the most current scientifically proven information on the diagnosis of celiac disease.
The ACDA promotes awareness and understanding of celiac disease among the general public and to also disseminate scientifically validated information to guide physicians in the detection and management of the disease. "

I'm 11 months GFSF and was CF until just recently, now tolerating small amounts of milk. Fat malabsorption was severe a year ago, now normal (via Enterolab).
However, lots of vitamin, minerals and amino acids are very very low. Has anyone else had this issue and has it eventually resolved (like after 2 years of healing)?
If yours has resolved, what helped?
In the initial phase of healing, vitamins and minerals may not be absorbing. Yes, I would round my healing off to two years. Diagnosed in August of 2005, I now consider myself in total remission.
It took me six months to master the diet. There is just too much to learn and too many traps. Any newly diagnosed that claims to be totally gluten free in the first few weeks, just is not aware of the scope of the gluten free challenge. The learning curve it steep.
You are showing improvement. Be patient and diligent.

Count me in too. Not worth the risk.
My choice of risk would be a VERY expensive french restaurant.
-
I use it without issue. I do not buy the Lubriderm with Oats.

I bought some gluten-free pasta and want to try it, but now I need some spaghetti sauce to go with it. Do I need to be concerned about the average jar of spaghetti sauce containing gluten? If so, what are some "safe brands" of spaghetti sauce that do not contain gluten?
Classico Red and White Sauces are all gluten free.

Here is a listing of US Companies whose policy is to clearly list all forms of gluten, so there's no guessing.

Wheat, by law is required to be listed if it is in the ingredients. Barley, Malt and Rye do not need to be listed.
Some Companies can be suspect when the list Natural Ingredients or Spieces. That's when you need to call the company.

Yup, I'll be sitting in the dark but the Carolina Game will be on. (does that count

..and the computer.
Hum, well I guess I'm not in the dark.

I read in a gluten-free book that Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes are ok for Celiacs. But the ingredient list says Malt Flavoring, which is listed under the "foods to avoid list." Anyone know?
Also, I might be getting anal and a little overboard, but are canned vegetables that list spice ok? i bought crushed tomatoes to make pasta sauce and it has spices listed. It's tomatoes with garlic, and basil I think. Thanks
Throw that book OUT! Yes, you are correct Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes are not gluten free.
Here is a link that will be very helpful. It lists companies who will clearly list all forms of gluten (as in wheat, barley, malt and rye) so there is no worry about ingredients like Natural Flavors and Species.

Since your tests produced a diagnosis for Celiac you will want to check to see if you vitamin and mineral levels. It used to be called an Executive Panel or full Metabolic Panel.
I have found that every new doctor that I have been to, wants to run their own test to verify what a previous doctor told you. What a waste of money. There is no need for diagnostic testing for Celiac.

I don't think we are allowed to use the name of the online retailer that shares its name with a river in South America but they have significant discounts on gluten-free bread mixes if you buy in bulk (usually a box of six packages). I've not tried but if you subscribe (get the same order at a 1 to 6 month interval) they discount even more.
I order enough from them that it was worth it to pay the annual $70 to get everything at two-day shipping for no additional cost.

I learned that lesson again today. Got itchiness all over and crashed hard for two hours.
Oops, I meant Gliadin, not "Gliactin". I'm still new at this.
Even though the intolerance test I took (by Lame Advertisement) was negative, my sister --a Celiac with a biochem degree-- told me that 99% of those who get itchiness all over their body after eating gluten will test positive on the test that takes a biopsy (would that be Enterolab?).
The same food intolerance test also told me I have a mild reaction to apple, which sucks when you go out with your beer drinking friends and all you can get is hard cider.
I've been communicating in broken English with my nextdoor Asian restaurant about soy sauce and they offer an alternative to Kikkoman. I wasn't so lucky with my favorite Sushi restaurant. I had their entire kitchen trying to find a non-Kikkoman solution for me, but with little luck.
I don't know where you are located, so this may be relevant or not. www.triumph.dining.com has ethnic dining laminated cards in many languages. It explains the gluten free diet and what to avoid when eating foreign food. I have used mine frequently at Chinese and Mexican Restaurants. They also can be found on this site.

After one week of only eating Asian food, the puffiness around my eyes went away. Then came more energy. After being gluten free for two months, I can now eat mixes of foods that would ordinarily give me severe indigestion, such as beans and rice, and I have no gas or bloating.
Watch out for the soy sauce. Most contain gluten.
