Hey Patti - I have seniority
I think that it's cool that the "old" crowd is still around.

Congratulations Tom on your two year anniversary! My two years are coming up in August.
It's nice that you pop in here from time to time to help those that came after you. Celebrate tonight with some of your Redbridge and best to Meg.
Maybe we can work out a dinner at the Banks this summer.

Thanks Momma Goose!
When I read the label on Campbell's soup it had Monosodium Glutimate on the label. I always thought that MSG was a big NO - NO!
Gonbad:
Although a few people react to MSG, it is not gluten related. I have not issues with MSG. But I would clean you grill well and use natural wood charcoal. (or get a new grate)

Thanks Susanna! One thing I noticed is that Cheetos (Crunchy) have MSG in them. I have the Organic Cheeto's Puffs and they seem fine but I really miss the crunchy ones.
The night before I had my EGD I said screw it and ate an entire Chicago Deep Dish Pizza with beer. Boy I felt like crap the next evening. Not sure if it was the after effects of the EGD or the pizza or both.
I am going to reduce my milk intake and stay off the oats until my gut heals. I drink gallons of milk a week. I have my whole life so that is going to be hard. I really enjoy very spicy food so laying off that sucks too. However I am very interested to see how I feel once I have healed. I don't feel bad but have sore joints some times and lack energy sometimes. I have a 20 month old daughter and I bet anyone would be tired after chasing her all evening long.
I will be looking for that Mushroom Soup. I love smothered pork chops or chicken over rice. I eat rice by the ton. I actually prefer it to pasta but I will miss good spinach spaghetti. I buy Thai Jasmine Rice in 25lb bags thatl last about 3 mos.
As a result of this my loving and understanding wife has agreed to build an out door kitchen/grill. I grill a lot now but use charcoal. I will now be grilling even more and don't want to wait on coals when trying to feed the kids. My love of grilled food is probably what will keep me on this diet.
I deer hunt and have tons of sausage and jerky. I have a message into the company that processes my meat for me about MSG or grain fillers. I am confident that it is all fine but need to make sure.
What about the ingrediant MALTODEXTRIN ----- is this OK for us?
Maltodextrin is gluten free although Malt is not. Confusing? Progresso's Creamy Mushroom Soup is gluten free and much better than Campbells.
Charcoal briquettes contains gluten so I would suggest Natural Wood Charcoal (Cowboy Brand). Happy Grilling

Why does my message reminder at the top say -1 New Messages? That is weird. I looked and am not at my quota and no new message either. And... it clearly says -1 not just 1 ...minus one.
You must have recently deleted some of your messages. That's just how it is indicted.

"...it's been a while since I used my bread maker" I hope that you did not baker regular bread in that machine before. That would be a MAJOR source for cross contamination.

You don't have to buy those pricey gluten free items. Just stick to meats, rice, potatoes, rice, veggies and fruit, nuts, etc...
If you need some suggestion for meals, many of us would be glad to help.

So many of us have been diagnosed with IBS for oh so many years. That may be the precursor to Celiac where the trigger is needed. What happenes in the transition from IBS to Celiac Disease? Is it a weaked system or over-heated regarding the defense system? Does that make sense?
I know that IBS is not a diagnosis, but why do so many of us have the symptoms which eventually become Celiac Disease?

In China, Lay's chips have MSG, which is wheat based.
no chips for me!
Where in China are you.? My brother is in Shanghai.
Just noticed, MSG is gluten free in the US, in China is it wheat based? Crap, this is why it's so difficult for everyone.

Hey Nikki:
Your Queen is coming to the Colonies. Jamestown is about two hours away, but I am enjoying the news coverage.
I also think that she is going to visit Virginia Tech, where they have had such tragedies. Looking forward to the visit.

Hey Lisa--You were post # 15,000!
Andrea--what a beautiful wedding picture!
Well, I guess I came in through the back door.
#l5,000 HOLY COW!! Lots of happy faces here.
-
Now that sounds scary. I sure wish they could get to the bottom of this.
-
Happy 1001 Rachelville! OOOPS, well I thought so. Congradulations anyways.
-
It wonderful to hear about some good news. I am so happy for you and your daughter!
-
ditto on the oats, sorry.
-
Sorry about you Dad babe. Been there, done that. I'll be thinking about you.

I read somewhere that celiac disease can suddenly show up if you experiance lots of stress or have something traumatic happen in your life. Has anyone else heard this? Is it true? Can it lay dormant and then just show up?
Sort of. You carry the gene and are predisposed for Celiac. It often takes a trigger such as stress, pregnancy, surgery, etc. to kick Celiac into high gear.
-
I will be going to a new GI next week... I havent been to a GI about celiac because the ones I had been to just told me I have IBS.. I tested postive with the blood test.. what other tests should I request?
[/quot
You have a positive blood work for Celiac? You can test further, but you have a confirmation that you have Celiac.

Can anyone answer this question. I have a 25 yr old son that has all the neurological sympotms of gluten sensativity. He has never been able to control his bowels. He has trouble feeling. He has many nuerological problems. The doctors just say that the loss of control is due to his not being able to feel. I think all of it has to do with gluten. Can someone give me any idea if it could be gluten. He is so embarrassed and doesn't know what to do.
Roxanna:
I cannot tell you the pants that I threw out. Two months I could not leave my home. This "no feeling" is nonsense. I remember needing the bathroom which was six seconds away and I got there in seven seconds. Granted, there was no warning, or very little. That was a discussed lost of several good jeans. This was relieved after two months of eating gluten free.
If he is willing to take the gluten free diet seriously and be diligent, I think he will see drastic changes, to include the nero symptoms, after a totally free diet.
Hope this helps.
You have others that are posting good information.

So sorry you're feeling bad. The wine may have contributed in the excess. Today I ate out with my daughter and felt that I ate safely. Late afternoon and tonight I feel like I am underwater. My arms are heavy, legs are heavy and all in slow motion and major fatigue. 24 hours will be the determining factor to a gluten effect.
I have found that the longer you are gluten free, the harder the hit.
You got ove the hangover and now you're dealing with the gluten effect. Water, water, water, at least it will get the alcohol out of your system. The gluten just needs to run it's course.
Hope you feel better soon.

My understanding is to watch out for powder latex gloves.
I would also be concerned about the latex gloves, but if my memory is correct it is not flour related but perhaps cornstarch or cellulose. Many doctors/ dentists have un-dusted gloves and I would request that.

Colgate is gluten free.

Pleasant topic, I know...
Mine has gotten *better* since going gluten-free, but it's still pretty bad. I finally have put two and two together to find that dairy seems to plug me up, so I've severely limited the amount I'm eating, sadly.
What do you take to keep things going?
I take magnesium supplements - the dosage I vary based on how well I went that day, miralax occasionally, drink strong coffee on an empty stomach every morning (without it, I don't go). I used to take 1 zelnorm tablet every night and it worked like magic, but I ran out and have yet to get another prescription, something I'll be doing soon. I used to take a lot of fiber supplements, but that seemed to make things worse, as well as taking Miralax every day - it just changed the consistency of it, not whether it actually came out.
Somehow last week, I got behind and I'm STILL behind. I get so bloated and such bad pains, it's almost unbearable.
Has anyone tried anything that worked really well, every day?
I do believe that they pulled Zelnorm off the market...and can't remember why.

OMG Nora was wonderful!!! She put a big smile on MY face.
Love the "vintage" photos.
When You Went gluten-free, How Soon Did Dairy Become A Problem?

I have been gluten free for almost two years. For a long time, during meals, I would have facial perspiration and found no real connection. I even posted that question here with little answers.
It turns out that eating dairy, I will have an immediate reaction with the familiar facial perspiration. I can tolerate limited dairy without intestinal distress, but I always get the face flush from cheese and dairy.
