  1. mp welcome:

You need to check out your Teflon pans and make sure that they are not scratched up, gluten can hide there waiting for you. I thew away all my wooden spoons and got metal or rubber and a wash in the dish washer cleans them well enough.

A separate toaster is a must. You can't clean out gluten crumbs from a shared toaster.

All my meals that I fix for my husband and family are gluten free. He has his cereals and he has his regular french bread and sandwich bread.

I am not a baker and have a few gluten free bread that I like. Kinnikinnick White Sandwich Bread and English Muffins satisfy my bread cravings and I have found them to be the best.

Many people here have a bread machine and have adapted recipes to make bread that the whole family can enjoy.

Preparing gluten free meal is not difficult at all. In fact, we eat so much better, healthier and with most taste. I'm one of the lucky ones, I never did like pasta.

    Hope this was helpful

  2. Welcome

It took a long time to do damage to your intestines and it will take some time to repair.

Please make sure that you have checked your shampoos, lotions, lip wear or anything that could get into your mouth. Nail biting is a good case for hidden gluten. Some medications use gluten as a binder. I don't know whether licking envelopes is still a current concern - I just don't.

The gluten free diet can prevent lymphoma if you are diligent - and I think that your GI guy sucks. He certainly cannot predict your health in the future.

Sorry, I got so distracted by what you GI guy wrote on your chart...

Pepsi, Coke are gluten free. Several people react to the caramel color, I do not.

  4. Ok.....I know this is not what you are looking for and not familiar as well.

I use Hol*Grain - Brown Rice bread Crumbs.

I use thin slices chicken breast, dredge in Bread Crumbs, Parm. Cheese (lots) garlic salt, pepper and lots of Mrs. Dash (all products are gluten free) -- pan fry, bake or deep dunk into oil.

It is so very good especially if you season well.

  5. I just want to add that it is a great and wonderful to have more than a few gentlemen on the forum. And commend those that have been with us for so long with good advice and constant diligence. You know who you are.

Celiac is definitely a trans-gender issue and I personally am glad that you guys are here to speak up. Even Jerry has set a standard  ...some set of standards

In addition, I wanted to say that a journey though celiacland is not aways easy and I am glad those that helped you on your way were helpful. Your graditude is a testimony of those that give their knowlege and their time to help those that came after. This is what it is all about.

  7. I have to add... I made some clam chowder tonight and it turned out especially good tonight.

I also had a grilled cheese made out of kinnikinnich White Sandwich Bread. I swear, it was better than regular bread. It is slicked thin so you don't get that doughy-grain. Dipped in the clam chowder, gosh, it was almost heaven. You have to keep it in the freezed, but it is easy to separate for individual servings. Next is french toast....

I have to drive over an hour to get some more. But, certainly worth the trip.

  8. Janel:

If you have any questions about products or any question as well. I can assure you that it will be answered quickly and acccurately.

Like Nikki said, it can be very overwhelming in the beginning. With you language limitation with Bella, I can understand your frustration.

It can be done and you will have a magnificent amount of support here. These are the reasons why so many stay here....a sort of pay it forward kindda thing.

  9. It is odd to me to respond to Byte Me B) , but, yes...I often crave tomatoes.

    When I do:

2 cans of Hunts tomatoes with Basil and Garlic

Add some slices Mario's green olives

Chopped up onions if you prefer.......and bake until almost liquid is gone.

It's great with grilled chicken breasts or pan fried.

  10. Amazing that this was mentioned....i myself had the same questions and concerns about beef....i havent been able to eat either of them for almost 2yrs....i get that nausas feeling and dreedful cramping and naturaly the big "D"....after being diagnosied i havent been "brave" enough to try once again....i am feeling so so but i have only been gluten-free for a month or should i say attempting to be....the unknowen of the hidden ones get me all the time....

I think, in general, beef if very difficult to digest. Dr. Oz says, the sometimes beef can stay in your stomach up to 7 days. Hummm, chew well.

  11. I have a work lunch at Cafe Boa in Tempe, AZ this afternoon. Has anyone been there before? I emailed the restaurant yesterday and haven't heard back. I am going to call in a little while as well and talk to the manager but I thought I might as well try on here first.

    Thanks!

    Kacie

"mouse" would know. send her a PM.

  12. So, it will say wheat? The shower gel that I just looked at had a bunch of weird names, but did not say wheat. I almost had to be a scientist to understand the ingreadients in the shower gel.
