  1. Welcome. A gluten free diet has been reported to be helpful for those with autoimmune issues like thyroiditis, but I would encourage you to get tested for celiac disease first. It might be the root cause of many of your symptoms but you need to be consuming gluten for tests to be accurate. Learn more about testing: Open Original Shared Link and...
  2. Don't forget, it could be something else like EOE. Open Original Shared Link Do you have celiac disease or or Non-celiac Gluten Intolerance?
  3. I would recommend working with a dietician and your doctor. You seem to be missing a lot of valuable nutrients on just a nut, egg and chicken diet.
  4. I too, have Hashimoto's. You should ask for thyroid antibodies and not just T3, T4, and TSH as those might fall into normal ranges yet your antibodies could be high. I have not found anything about why I continue to test negatively on the TTG except for small children who can have a negative TTG yet a positive DGP (and I am not a small child). My...
  5. Welcome! You do have strange results as the TTG tests typically catch celiac disease. But, you are like me! I only get a positive on the DGP IgA even on follow-up testing. Your result is very very high, but that does not always correlate with the degree of intestinal damage. Mine was barely positive, yet I had a Marsh Stage IIIB on my biopsy. ...
  6. Everyone has different symptoms for celiac disease. Some have no symptoms at all even if they eat gluten! Look at the link I gave you. Get copies of your celiac test results from your doctor. Maybe you did not get the complete celiac blood panel: TTG, EMA, DGP.
  7. I hear ya! Piece of mind is priceless. I weigh out the risks. Is it worth $20 (or whatever) to be sick for 3 months? Often it is not. I guess I am not a gambler. I know others live in a shared household successfully, but I need a safe place where I can let down my guard and relax.
  8. Bleach is only good for killing bacteria. Gluten is a sticky protein that can be removed with soap and water as long as there are no tiny crevices or it is porous. The cast iron pan is pourous. That would need to go through a clean cycle (very high heat) in a self-cleaning oven (after scrubbing by hand first) and then reasoned. The grille? A good cleaning...
  9. Ha! ? I am pretty sure that I did not type beaming! Lesson learned: proofread!
  10. Looks delicious. Dang....I was bound and determine to monitor my carbs starting today (am diabetic beside having celiac disease). There is nothing like a reality check when trying on clothes in a department store dressing room and realizing that you are growing (not so good when you are 55!). ?
  11. I am sorry that you are ill. Celiac disease has many symptoms (over 300). It can not be diagnosed based on symptoms as they overlap with many other diseases. Best to get a celiac test. Here is more information. Open Original Shared Link But the only catch is that you have to beaming gluten daily for about 8 to 12 weeks prior to the blood test...
  12. Your daughter might be IgA deficient, but it should be enough to validate any celiac IgA tests like the TTG IgA. I would ask your doctor for the rest of the celiac panel. She carries the gene, but so does 30% of the population. ONly a few go on to actually develop celiac disease which can happen at any age! Ask for the EMA and the DGP tests. Why? The...
  13. Hum...here is an old posting about theses noddles:
  14. So, it sounds fine. I am assuming that you are buying these products in the store, prepackaged, and not off a hot dog cart where cross contamination could be an issue? USDA products , although not under the FDA, follow gluten free guidelines.
  15. Gluten contamination of naturally gluten-free flours and starches used by Canadians with celiac disease. This PubMed.gov article was certainly interesting: Open Original Shared Link
  16. I am assuming her GI orders follow-up celiac antibodies testing since her initial diagnosis?
  17. I know that you are desperate at this point in finding a solution for your daughter (mine is 16, so I get it), but celiac disease does require her to be on gluten. Why is a formal diagnosis important? You said it yourself....doubt. You daughter will most like doubt your diagnosis. She is a stakeholder in this and needs total buy in or she will cheat when...
  18. Welcome! First, you need to be on a gluten diet in order for any celiac testing to be valid. You should ask your doctor if in fact, he tested you for celiac disease. These are the tests (University of Chicago's celiac website): http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/screening/ Going gluten-free for as little as two weeks can impact the tests...
  19. Wow! So many issues. I am sorry that you are struggling! I do not have DH. I am one of the odd celiacs who continues to test negative to the TTG even on follow-up tests (DGP IgA positive, moderate to severe intestinal damage via endoscopy). A gluten challenge sounds awful. Not sure I could attempt it if I had DH. I know that you consider...
  20. Was that certified gluten free?
  21. Ha, ha! I see the links are no longer valid. However, I found it at UCLA's education website. So, really, no laughing matter (about 55% of Californians have pre diabetes, undiagnosed diabetes or diagnosed diabetes). Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  22. Make your own! Make a basic white sauce (butter, milk, and gluten-free flour/starch). Add tomato paste, cooked celery/celery seed, mushrooms, spices, whatever floats your boat. Takes just minutes. Sub out any item (e.g. Milk) for something you can tolerate.
  23. Welcome. Here is more information about screening. You may want to delay the blood draw for a few extra days to offset being gluten free for a week, but talk to your doctor! Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link The blood draw is simple and can be done at any time and ordered by any medical doctor...
  24. How sweet of you to think of me. I am better! The infection is going down and my cold is resolving. One thing that celiac disease has taught me is to take one day at a time. But I do fall off the wagon and forget what I preach on this forum -- patience!
