  1. Well, it must be a relief to know where you stand. My niece has Crohn's (newly diagnosed). Her medications are helping. If I could get her to eat healthier, like you.......
  2. I thought about getting the genetic testing for my kid so she would not have to go through antibodies testing every few years or so (sooner, if symptoms present), but someone on this board reminded me of our healthcare system. So, we know that 30% of the population carries the gene that could develop into celiac disease. But the health insurance industry...
  3. Nope. I would not try this product. Their website mentions that they developed this product for their gluten-free kids. There is no mention of them having celiac disease. Plus, the fine print at the bottom indicates that this product is not for celiacs or those with a gluten sensitivity (this is not a direct quote). Here is what the Celiac Foundation...
  4. Welcome to the forum! Check out our Newbie 101 adbpvice for some valuable tips. Most of us have temporary or sometimes permanent food intolerances due to intestinal damage. You might like this Article which features Dr. Fasano, a leading celiac GI expert which explains the possible reasons why: http://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2015/12/09...
  5. Thank Cristiana and Gemini for the added tips and advice. My infection started (or was noticed seven weeks ago). I did take antibiotics, but the infection had spread from the tooth site. Then I tried to retreat the tooth canal, but a cracked root meant it needed to be pullled as it was the source of the bacteria. So, it never really was knocked out the...
  6. Ugh! I am so sorry that this happened to you! I am glad you recovered finally. I think I will too. Am taking lots of probiotics to offset the antibiotics. I do think I will need another round.
  7. Like you, I am concerned about arsenic in rice products. But I have used common sense in keeping my family safe. We use other grains or starches beside rice. I purchase rice from California and soak and wash it well (I still prefer steaming). Here is more information from the Gluten Free Watch Dog that should set your mind at ease or show you how to work...
  8. I looked up the website and called. Baush and Lomb said that their products do not contain gluten, but they do not test the finished product or verify raw materials for gluten contamination. This company has strict manufacturing processes (hubby once worked in pharmaceutical manufacturing). I would take them. Studies show this supplement may help with...
  9. @Gemini, So happy to hear that someone with AI issues is doing well with implants. You are right about the time frame. I was told I would have to wait six months depending on my healing time. The way it is going, it will take a while. There was a lot of damage to the bone, so re-growth is necessary. I go back to the office at the end of the week...
  10. Wow, I used an acupuncturist years ago for a shoulder injury. Why didn't I think if that? Thanks Raven!
  11. My advice is to run a celiac antibodies test too. I thought for sure that I developed SIBO, but antibodies testing revealed that gluten was the source of my symptoms. At least rule that out first, as you should have it done annually as a standard management of care for celiac disease. Open Original Shared Link
  12. Here is my non-medical advice..... Two months into the gluten-free diet is, honestly, too short of a time to see a lot of improvement. Let's face it, you said that you have been glutened twice already. Did you know that a glutening just starts the autoimmune response? That response can go on for days, week or months. Everyone is different, but I...
  13. Yes. It is the "load more activity" button found at the bottom of the page. It affects the link you provided and then where I hang..."Activity", then "all activity". Again, the "load more activity" button freezes. I am on a iPad: Safari, 10.2.1 software, so it is current.
  14. Thanks! Like so many people this winter, I am tired of being sick! Just a bad year for me. I have gone years and years avoiding colds and flu. It finally caught up. Maybe all the "colder" rain we finally have been getting in California is to blame. My garden is happy though!
  15. Thanks. My vitamin K levels are normal. My GI tested them during my last visit. Plus, I eat a diet rich in dairy, meat and cheese. As long as I do not get glutened, I am absorbing all my minerals and vitamins without any supplements from a good Whole Foods diet based on lab results. I just need to tough this out, I guess.
  16. Yes! Just try to load more off the "All Activity" screen and it froze.
  17. Ugh! I am here to just simply vent. Six weeks ago I experienced facial swelling, but no pain. I conducted a Google search and made an appointment with my dentist and a medical doctor. My dentist suspected a root canal gone bad (had one 20 years prior) and referred me to an Endodontist. The MD confirmed the diagnosis and added a sinus infection. ...
  18. When you get diagnosed with celiac disease, doctors (like mine) sent me on my way telling me to just avoid gluten. Because my hubby has been gluten free for over a decade, I opted out of seeing a dietitian. I knew the gluten-free diet. What I did not know was that I was pretty sick (severely anemic) and that I should have been viewing food as medicine...
  19. I completely understand your hesitation about testing for celiac disease if it means consuming gluten. My hubby went Gluten Free 12 years prior to my celiac disease diagnosis per the poor advice of two doctors. The diet worked. Now, no one knows if he has celiac disease or even NCGI and he will NEVER do a challenge to find out. Consuming gluten will make...
  20. Karen is right. The scientific community agrees that gluten can not be absorbed into the skin. However, you can have more than just celiac disease going on. You might have an allergy or intolerance to any of the ingredients. Who knows? Personally, I make sure that all products that might come into contact with my mouth, are gluten free. That includes...
  21. Sorry, the photo does not show enough for me to comment. I can see that she is not IgA deficient. For celiac testing, it means all the IgA celiac tests (EMA, TTG and DGP) are valid. At best, she is on the fence? Ask for DGP testing or go forward with a biopsy. Anyone else?
  22. Welcome Shelby! Did you know that celiac disease can develop at anytime in your life? It is a autoimmune disorder, (like lupus or R. Arthritis) except the trigger for a flare-up is known -- gluten! So, before trying the gluten-free diet, I would ask your doctor to run a simple blood test to rule out celiac disease. If negative, you can at least give...
  23. gluten-free in DC is right about posting in our forum section, but I would like to address your question. Your daughter is ill. She has an AI issue and not an allergy. A gluten exposure triggers an autoimmune response (like lupus or RA) that can last for days, weeks or months). Removing all gluten is great, but it takes time for the body to heal. Most...
