This is up to you, but normally I would suggest waiting to see a GI to obtain biopsies via endoscopy, but with this pandemic, it could take time. Neurological issues are not to be messed with in my non-medical opinion. You might consider going on the diet now if in fact, your celiac antibodies [DGP, TTG) were pretty high (only one positive necessary)....

I have not heard specifically of a connection. However, TM can be autoimmune (MS, Lupus, Sjogren’s Syndrome etc.) and celiac disease is autoimmune. You can have more than one autoimmune disorder. Let’s hope that you heal just by calming down your immune system (if your TM is in fact autoimmune) with a gluten free diet. I found that if my celiac dis...

There are a few chili mixes out in the market that are labeled gluten free — Shilling and Carroll Shelby (excellent by the way). Perhaps you can order online. If not, make a mix from scratch. Lots of recipes on the internet/YouTube. https://www.carrollshelbyschili.com/products Read the history of this site. If you eat this chili, you might b...

I feel as though doctors don't take my Celiac seriously
cyclinglady replied to CottenCandyDream's topic in Doctors
I have a letter from my diagnosing GI and all my lab records. I give copies to every new doctor I have met since my diagnosis. This has worked well for me. Hard to argue with a lab result. I have also shared the standard follow-up care recommendations for celiac disease with my PCP who has in turn, been good about ordering the necessary tests. ... -
LUQ and abdominal pain
cyclinglady replied to Asiders's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Besides checking your diet (consider trialing the Fasano gluten-free Diet), you might want to get your celiac antibodies re-checked. This can help determine if gluten is the culprit. I thought for sure Gluten was getting into my diet (I did trial the Fasano diet), but a repeat endoscopy revealed a healed small intestine. However, I was diagnosed... -

I use Eucerin on my face and Equate (Walmart) for my body on bike rides. The Equate brand received good marks from Consumer Reports. Cheap and effective. I would not worry about sunscreen unless you have DH or you plan on eating it. -
abdominal pain and stool color change

Hi! Unless you have had a HIDA scan, you can not rule out gallbladder issues. Mine was non-functioning (would not squeeze properly to release bile) and I had no stones. My ultrasounds always looked good. My niece had fatty liver. She is a tiny little thing, but had a huge sweet tooth. Once she reduced her carbs, her liver issues resolved... -
Celiac Testing
cyclinglady replied to Sandy777's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Once a celiac, always a celiac. Celiac disease is like a chameleon, symptoms can wax and wane. i have a girl friend who was recently diagnosed in her late 40’s. Her sister in Ireland was diagnosed with celiac disease as a baby. Her mother was told that she would outgrow it. That was not true. The woman was re-diagnosed with celiac disease in her 4... -
It depends. Everyone is unique. Soy is a very common food allergen. It is one of the top 8 allergens that must be listed on food products. Hubby takes metoprolol tartrate. We do check to make sure it is gluten free by contacting the manufacturer, Mylan and checking Pillbox (a government website): https://pillbox.nlm.nih.gov/pillimage/search.php Your pharmacist and doctor should be able to guide you. If not, find another one.

Hey, I cut my hubby’s hair yesterday. Not bad. I guess we will find out how well I did when he sees his barber. ? -

What Scott said is true, but this is a highly processed yogurt (not very natural in my book). What is all that stuff in it and why? Because it is private labeled for Walmart, you can not contact the manufacturing company to determine if the lines are shared or not, etc. I do buy yogurts that are labeled gluten free (certified gluten-free or just... -
Gluten free does not need to be expensive. If you are looking for gluten free processed foods like bread or cookies, then yes. It is certainly more expensive. You should be able to find dried beans, rice, vegetables, fruit, meats, nuts, fish, eggs (dairy should be avoided if you find that you are lactose intolerant). I hope you feel better...

Kirkland (Costco) is labeled gluten free. But as long as there are no gluten ingredients, you should be just fine. My thyroid hormone replacement is not certified gluten-free and I do just fine on it. Unfortunately, pharmaceuticals do not have to comply with gluten free guidelines. A bill has been submitted this past fall, but with this pandemic...

Gatorade is free from gluten and safe for celiacs. It is even included on what we call the “Fasano” diet for non-responsive celiacs. (Dr. Fasano is a leading Celiac Disease PED GI). Retraining Bowels

Did anything change in your gluten-free diet? If not, Maybe you should call your GI. When you have one autoimmune disorder, you can develop more. For example, when I was diagnosed with celiac disease, I already had Hashimoto’s. A few years later, I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Gastritis. Take care. -

Well, that seems strange. Maybe you have a viral illness. Know that any dramatic dietary change can cause issues (think about when you change a dog’s food from one brand to another). This is what happened to me. I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Hubby had been gluten-free for 12 years. I knew the dietary drill. What I did not know was t... -
The supply chain for crops and goods were long established (contracts) before this pandemic occurred. For example, many crops were grown specifically for restaurants and schools (now closed). How does the farmer figure out how to get those crops safely to a consumer? Offer it for free and see people stampeding to fields and thus causing more viral spread...

Just had an upper endoscopy
cyclinglady replied to OliviaClaire99's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am sorry this is happening to you. It sounds like you had this procedure done for reasons other than investigating a celiac disease diagnosis or do you already have have celiac disease in addition to the swallowing issues? I am sure your GI gave you information about this procedure and it’s potential side effects. Consider calling your G... -
Celiac Disease and Quarantine

I am the opposite of C Johnson. I consume a lot of dairy. My lactose intolerance resolved on a gluten free diet within a year of my diagnosis. A repeat endoscopy/biopsy while consuming lots of dairy revealed a healed small intestine. We are all different! These are stressing times and stress can cause so many issues. Look to your “at home” di...
