Ah, one of my intolerances at the beginning turned out to be Xanthan Gum which never bothered my husband who had long since healed. I gave up some commercial crackers and bread containing xanthan gum. I made my own using guar gum and have done well. I can eat a little xanthan gum now and have not had an issues. One of the blessings of a healed gut!

ARCHIVED How Likely Are Lab Errors?
cyclinglady replied to Brit1612's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I do not know! Sorry! My heart goes out to you. Diagnosing tiny children can be difficult. There are so many scenarios and his case is a bit strange. I did read in Dr. fansano's, "Guten Freedom" that "10 to 20 percent of celiac disease patients test negative to serology screening tests." With his serum IGA deficiency and both positive and negative blood... -
ARCHIVED Phlegm And Coughing After Eating
cyclinglady replied to ktyler44's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I can not speak for your lab processing time, but it should not take more than 10 business days. Even if you lab results are negative, your GI may still want to perform an endoscopy of he suspects something else as the cause of your symptoms. Who knows? -
You are self-diagnosed, right? If you are still not feeling well on a gluten free diet and you are strictly adhering to it, look for other intolerances. Keep a journal. I hope you find your answers! I can tell you from my experience, that most gluten-free processed cereals and goodies are not good food choices. They seem to be packed with sugar!

ARCHIVED Are 4C Gluten Free Bread Crumbs Really gluten-free?
cyclinglady replied to gfmomtoK's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What was created with the breadcrumbs? I made and ate gluten-free fried chicken coated with certified gluten-free breadcrumbs about two months after my diagnosis and ended up in the hospital! Was it the bread crumbs? No! It was sheer gluttony. Too much chicken, too much fat -- I was a pig! It tasted so good. Not a good thing to consume just after a... -
Wow! I remember Seeing that pile up on the news! That is awful about the current cost of propane. We just have to purchase it for the RV or the BBQ grille. We never run the heater in the RV, but then we never go anywhere where it goes below freezing. I guess we are used to tent camping where layering up is the rule. We use propane to run the frig...

ARCHIVED Celiac And Constipation
cyclinglady replied to alihawk's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well, you could have been eating healthy, but not really absorbing it well. That was me! Ate well and ran, swam or biked six days of the week. Until my anemia was knocking me down. That was when I was diagnosed with celiac disease. A few months later I had some vertabrae fractures doing NOTHING! Yep, bones were compromised! Try not to worry about... -
We pulled a wagon full of Girl Scout cookies around the neighborhood in what felt like scorching hea on Sunday! It has been in the 80's in Los Angeles. Came home from band rehearsal tonight and threw open all the windows! It was too hot in the house. Wishing for cooler weather. I got a few nice scarves at Christmas and would like to wear them.

It is important to get the celiac blood test. Otherwise, you will never know if you have Celiac Disease or not as many thing can damage intestinal villi. -
ARCHIVED Feeling Unwell
cyclinglady replied to Zebra007's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Zebra, Sorry that you are feeling so unwell. Getting glutened is toughis and can take up to three weeks to feel well. Symptoms can vary which is really frustrating. Have you researched Mast Cell Activation Syndrome? It is all about allergies. One of our forum members who is a pediatrician and a celiac has this disorder as well -- so it is a legitimate... -

ARCHIVED Endocsopy And Biopsy Tomorrow
cyclinglady replied to amandarowe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! Did your PCP run a celiac blood panel? That is usually the first step prior to an endoscopy. You GI doc may or may not see any damage visually. You may have to wait a week for the biopsy results to come back. You doctor should take up to six samples. Your GI tract is vast and it is easy to miss patches of damage. Confirm with him or her... -
ARCHIVED Negative Biopsy Results.what Now?
cyclinglady replied to jopan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Get all copies of all lab reports. You need to find out how many biopsies (tissue samples) were taken during the endoscopy and if a complete celiac blood panel was run. Post the results. Someone might be able to help you. BleesedMommy is right, something is off and I agree that a second opinion may be in order! Please do not give up! -
ARCHIVED Overlapping Symptoms
cyclinglady replied to SLEteen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A GP can easily order a celiac or thyroid panel. Be sure to ask for thyroid antibodies, they might be out of range, but your other thyroid results (TSH, etc.) can be normal. That is how I first presented with Hashi's. You can decide then if adding thyroid replacement might help you. Then you could ask for referrals if needed. -
ARCHIVED New To This Group
cyclinglady replied to Jamgee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
She could very well have celiac disease which is an autoimmune response triggered by gluten found in rye, wheat and barley. It is not an allergy to wheat, though it is possible to have both. Here is some information about celiac disease and testing from the University of Chicago. Any MD can test. You must make sure that she is eating gluten daily until... -
ARCHIVED Pizza Hut Gluten Free
cyclinglady replied to masterjen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would ask to the manger to walk you through the preparation process. Observe them making the pizza. I do this at my fav burger joint. Only once did I catch an employee not following gluten "allergy" procedures. So, I watch every single time and talk to the manager first! I can not wait to try the pizza! -
ARCHIVED Food Allergies And Speech Delay In Toddlers
cyclinglady replied to eebright's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The speech delay might not have anything to do with celiac disease or allergies or anything! My kid brother did not speak until he was three. He had older siblings and doting parents to cater to him. When he was three, he started talking in complete sentences. My daughter had some speech issues. My parents thought she was deaf. Turns out that there... -
ARCHIVED Glutened By Dd Coffee/nature's Path Cereal/sundown Vits?
cyclinglady replied to brooklyngal's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They all appear to be gluten free assuming you make the coffee yourself. Have you developed a corn intolerance? Iron can be hard for anyone to digest. Take some with orange juice as vitamin c allows iron to be absorbed more easily. If you are new like Bart mentioned, maybe you should stick to whole foods for now. You really want heal fast! That... -
ARCHIVED Cbc Results Not Mentioned....
cyclinglady replied to Brit1612's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Celiac disease symptoms can wax and wane which is infuriating! Here is a site that explains it better than the technical government sites. Open Original... -
ARCHIVED Dairy Intolerant...any Success In Adding In Goat's Milk?
cyclinglady replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
My lactose intolerance has resolved, but my casein allergy? Who knows? It always has diminished during winter. I used to think I was cured during Winter (even told my allergist who would chuckle) and it would come back with a vengeance come Spring. I react strongly to tree pollen. Another family curse! Of course, I have been testing periodically... -
ARCHIVED Overlapping Symptoms
cyclinglady replied to SLEteen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would think about testing as autoimmune disorders seem to run together. My grandmother had lupus, RA, diabetes, and a non-functioning gallbladder. We suspect that she had celiac disease based on my diagnosis along with my aunt and cousin. I have Hashi's thyroiditis, celiac disease, and diabetes. You have to be eating gluten daily for up to 8 weeks... -

Welcome! Wow! it sure sounds like celiac disease could be your problem.
