  1. In any case, the product has been tested to insure it meets gluten -free standards.
  2. My box has a gluten-free certified seal. Check the box.
  3. I was just in a Grocery store and saw this product. I would not consider it safe for celiacs at least in the US.
  4. Yes, but both my GP and my GYN found an enlarged thyroid and some nodules.
  5. Gee, you already have one AI disorder. Think they would be more helpful in identifying another! But it is ALL about the money!
  6. Check out the DH section of this forum. Lots of photos and suggestions which basically say, "NEVER EAT GLUTEN!" The rash can get worse with each accidental glutening. It is pretty awful. Fries can be easily cross contaminated. I would also check out our Newbie 101 thread under our "Coping" section for a refresher course. As far as your brain stuff...
  7. Check out the University of Chicago's celiac website. It has some great information. And.....all first-degree relatives should get tested even withou symptoms (some of us have no symptoms at all). Get tested!
  8. Did he even touch your neck? My doc caught my thyroid enlargement and nodules and ordered the complete panel. But that was 20 years ago, when insurance paid without question.
  9. About $40 to chip here on the West Coast. Half the fee goes towards the paperwork. Both my cat and dog are chipped.
  10. Hey, there is an In N Out less than four miles away! We eat there safely! Tell them you have a gluten allergy.
  11. I think it is about as safe as you are going to get at a university. Are the baked goods certified and prepackaged? Where are the gluten-free toaster ovens kept? Is someone going to throw in gluten-containing toast in the gluten-free toaster oven to save time? Are they baking gluten-free baked goods in dedicated areas using gluten-free equipment? Can...
  12. Obtaining a biopsy is still considered the "gold standard" by leading experts in diagnosing celiac disease. It is nice to know or have a benchmark of damage and to check for cancer. My husband went gluten-free 14 years ago per the advice of my allergist and his GP. It worked. He feels great. But he would be the first to tell you that I get a ton of...
  13. Lactose (milk sugar) intolerance is not the same as casein (milk protein) intolerance or allergy. Avoidance is best.
  14. Welcome! Here is a link to Mary Shomon site regarding thyroid testing: Open Original Shared Link These are the celiac tests: -tTG IgA and tTG IgG -DGP IgA and DGP IgG -EMA IgA -total serum IgA and IgG (control test) -AGA IGA and AGA IgG - older and less reliable tests largely replace by the DGP tests -endoscopic biopsy - make sure at least...
  15. No, it can takes months to YEARS to have symptoms resolve! Some people do not have any symptoms at all! I would strongly do some research. The University of Chicago has a great celiac website and discusses testing. Doctors, even GI doc get it wrong all the time. Just read all the threads in this forum. You do have to be eating gluten to get tested...
  16. Welcome. Can you provide the ranges? Lab ranges vary, so it is impossible to tell based on actual result numbers.
  17. Well, this is beyond my scope of understanding, but obviously you have many things going on : osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, disc budges (not sure if those are a result of the osteoarthritis or earlier injury). Perhaps, the doctors want to insure bone improvement at this stage with meds so that there is bone to work with should you need surgery in the future...
  18. Welcome! Everyone is different. But a single glutening can trigger a response that can last for weeks. I wish you well.
  19. Talk to your doctor about your concerns. It would be worth the cost of an office visit. Ask him directly what kind of equipment he uses. I think you will feel better then.
  20. What does the MRI report say? I read that DXA is best for testing bone density and for diagnosing osteoporosis. An MRI can identify fractures not seen well on a regular X-ray. Do you have more fractures than you thought or were found on a regular X-ray? Are they all the same "age"?
  21. Research Lichen Sclerosus. It is a skin disease that some doctors classify as an autoimmune disorder. It mostly affects the genitals. Some get it on their chest. No one know why it happens. It happens mostly to women. There is no cure, but special hydrocortisone medication for it can relieve itching and some pain. It seems to affect those with hormonal...
  22. Congratulations, Coach! I am sure the kids did a great job, but as coach, you were behind every move they made! They could have not done it without you. My hat (helmet) is off to you for working with kids!
  23. Congratulations on getting accepted. Is SB short for Santa Barbara?
  24. Keep eating gluten until all testing is complete! That is super important!
