  1. It just takes time! Sorry, I wish I had a better answer for you. Eat and get plenty of rest. I recall one bout of flu where I stayed in the guest room and my family tossed in food and water bottles! I had fever for seven days. At one point I was able to shower and I was so exhausted that I went back to bed. Your weight should come back as your...
  2. Welcome! Here is a link to an article that can be found under our "Coping" section: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  3. Glad that you are feeling better! With all my morning sickness I did not gain weight during my first trimester. I was little like you (just an inch shorter). I gain 26 pounds (doctor said to shoot for 25) during my entire pregnancy and delivered a 6 pound , 9 oz. Baby. Add plenty of fat to your diet. Avocado, olive oil, bacon, salmon, sardines...
  4. Make sure you had the complete celiac blood panel. Your GI doc did say it was incomplete. Get copies of the lab reports. Here is a list: -tTG IgA and tTG IgG -DGP IgA and DGP IgG -EMA IgA -total serum IgA and IgG (control test) -AGA IGA and AGA IgG - older and less reliable tests largely replace by the DGP tests -endoscopic biopsy - make sure...
  5. Guess what? I am not genetically related to my husband, but we both have celiac disease. Well, pretty sure. Hubby went gluten-free 14 years ago per the poor advice of his GP and my allergist. All his health problems resolved and we know when he gets glutened. At this point he refuses to do a gluten challenge. I can not blame him. His family, like mine...
  6. Everyone is different depending on the severity of intestinal damage and damage to other systems. In my case, I felt better in about six months. I am approaching my second diagnosis anniversary and feel pretty close to 100%. Of course I am still dealing with other health issues like diabetes, osteoporosis, allergies, and menopause! Be patient! Things...
  7. I take Armour thyroid and have for almost 20 years. There was a time that insurance would not pay for it (many years ago) but I paid cash. In fact, I have been paying cash up until last year. It is the same price or close as my co-pay of $15.00. I get a 100 day supply and it is about $25 to $30. If I would order it through insurance, I would have to...
  8. Yep, heavy periods can be attributed to being hypothyroid. I have some fibroids too. Three years ago, I was having 30 day periods, I did not know that I was in my last year of perimenopause. Got my thyroid meds adjusted, but it was difficult because I was swinging between being hypo to hyper wich was driving my doc nuts. My GYN kept pushing for a hysterectomy...
  9. I just took a look at the website. You have been gluten-free for several years and still experiencing constipation? I assume that you are adhering to the diet and it looks like you have been dairy, egg, and peanut free. I do not eat grains because I am on a low carb high fat diet to keep my blood sugar in line. I eat what makes my meter happy! ...
  10. I think you need to research more and you can share with your derm. Here is a link to the University of Chicago's celiac website: Open Original Shared Link Then search through this forum under the DH section. It clearly explains how the doc should biopsy for celiac disease. This is critical! YOU HAVE TO BE CONSUMING GLUTEN TO GET ACCURRATE TEST...
  11. Dove soap and mineral foundation. My kid uses a tea tree oil soap that is labeled gluten-free. Her skin is oily. Might be a food that triggers. I have Rosacea and things like red wine and garlic (known allergen for me) triggers it. Try keeping a food journal.
  12. Talk to the manager. They are good about stocking products at the request of a regular customer. My kid loves Van's waffles with Nutella and bananas or berries.
  13. Welcome! Sorry that I do not have any answers for you. The best thing would be to research celiac disease to determine if any of your symptoms apply. Here is a link to the University of Chicago's celiac center: Open Original Shared Link This is the actual list of tests: -tTG IgA and tTG IgG -DGP IgA and DGP IgG -EMA IgA -total serum IgA and IgG...
  14. Just like thyroid or celiac disease antibodies, GAD tests for type 1 diabetes which can develop as an adult. It is called LADA (Lantent Autoimmune Diabetes). I have not been tested at this time since my doc and I agree that the treatment is the same whether I have type 1 or 2 for now. I decided against testing since I was barely positive on my celiac...
  15. You can use either one in my opinion. Whatever is in your kitchen or on sale! I prefer traditional and buy a bag of it at Costco. Keep it in the frig and it will last for a year or more. You can always proof it to make sure it is active.
  16. I usually order wine, but depending on the bar, I ask for it in a plastic cup. Do you see how they clean glasses in most bar sinks? Yuck! I save the mixed drinks for home.
  17. Did your doctor talk to you about celiac disease? Did he offer testing? Here is some information about celiac disease. Unfortunately you have to be eating gluten in order for the to be accurate. http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/medical-professionals/guide/factsheets I can recommend keeping a food journal to help identify intolerances. I hope...
  18. Going gluten free will not impact your blood sugar. You could be developing diabetes -- hypoglycemia. I would advise getting tested. Your diet seems to lack fat and protein which will keep you more satiated throughout the day. Might consider or research that. Why did you cut calories? Why did you give up gluten?
  19. I think that is a strong possibility. My MIL took steroids for MS. She fractured her wrists and hip (not at the same time) due to falling because of her gait. We blamed the steroids she took, but without them, she was often unable to walk especially due a flare-up. In retrospect, she could have had celiac disease as well. My husband has been gluten free...
  20. Is this class a requirement in order to graduate? Even so, the principal should be able to override this requirement. My kid can eat gluten and is in middle school. I did not have her take Home Ec (she wanted to) but instead She took music for the year. I talked to the Home Ec teacher at the Open House prior to our enrolling and was not impressed....
  21. Well, my test was barely positive and anemia was my only symptom at the time. My endoscopy was seven weeks out (due to work constraints and not my doctor), so I took that time to eat all my old favorites -- a fond farewell! The problem was that I went overboard. I literally ate a loaf of sourdough a day! Plus, cookies and cakes! My biopsy revealed A...
  22. I agree with Shell. Do not worry as long as you stay within your BMI range.
  23. Congrats!
  24. Yes, based on my personal experience of having the same exact result. Keep dealing gluten until all testing is complete. Here is some more information: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
