  1. Here is recipe that I used last night. Open Original Shared Link I do not use cookbooks anymore because of storage issues (clutter) and my handy iPad! I look for recipes and match the ingredients I have in my pantry. I happened to have plain Greek yogurt (full fat) on hand and lots of honey, so I tried the above recipe link . I used butter and Pamela...
  2. Live and learn! You will get it! You can always skip bread for a while. gluten-free tends to taste better the longer you have been away from gluten-containing products. I did serve chili last night to a crowd last night and no one suspected the cornbread muffins were gluten-free. Pamela's is my go-to flour blend.
  3. I would trade the candy for purchased candy today. Take them to the store and let them pick out their favorite bag of gluten-free candy. It is all on sale anyway! If you want them to eat from the bag, you can search the forum for our G F candy list. Tootsie Candies (Tootsie Rolls) And Smarties are gluten free and I passed those out last night and...
  4. Welcome to the club! I only had DGP IGA come up positive. My biopsy result was a Marsh Stage IIIB (moderate to severe damage). My main symptom was anemia, but a few weeks after my diagnosis, I fractured two vertebrae doing nothing! Osteoporosis! Keep eating gluten until all testing is complete. Good luck!
  5. Welcome! Wow, what are you doing for the Osteoporosis? If you were gluten free for all those years, how did the osteoporosis develop? Perhaps, you were not as gluten free as you thought. Cross contamination is a big issue. I highly recommend reading our Newbie 101 section under the "Coping" section of this forum. Here is the link: https://www.celiac...
  6. When villi are damaged from celiac disease, they can not release the enzymes to digest foods (e.g. Lactose). Often this is temporary (six months or more) until intestinal healing occurs. I would get copies of all the reports. Visually, my endoscopy looked normal. The biopsy from reviewed by the pathologist showed differently.
  7. I was only positive on the DGP IGA and I had a Marsh Stage IIIB on my biopsy. NVSMOM usually says, "You can not be barely pregnant --a positive is a positive and that goes for celiac disease too." (Or something like that......) Anyway, I am hoping she might pop up and add her thoughts since she resides in Canada. I would find another doctor who would...
  8. Did you see the link? I stand my ground. Toilets are engineered to handle human waste. Toilets can get blocked or have reduced capacity over the years from mineral deposits. They can also be clogged by those who put too much paper into the toilet.
  9. No stool should ever clog a toilet. Your toilet may be clogged or partially clogged. Time for a plumber! Here is the scoop on poop as told on the Dr. Oz show: Open Original Shared Link
  10. I would. My daughter tested negative, but with both parents having gluten issues and an entire family diagnosed with tons of autoimmune diseases, chances are she is doomed and she knows it. At least she will not have to suffer needlessly for years. My dx has helped others in my extended family too.
  11. My hospital was able to accommodate me, but only in my room. I did testing (they thought I had a heart attack when I really just fractured my back as a result of celiac disease) in the Nuclear Department and they could not feed me (they only had sandwiches). I starved! They could not run down to the kitchen.....really! I strongly advise that you...
  12. Ugh! I can not believe it! You do not have to have intestinal symptoms to have celiac disease!!!!! I had pretty severe anemia that was attributed to Thalassemia (a genetic anemia), hypo thyroid (true.....) and my last year of perimenopause ( 30 day periods). But I also had celiac disease which was discover by my GI when I went in for a routine colonoscopy...
  13. You might find relief from your Fibro symptoms after you have been gluten free for a few months to a year or longer (takes lots of time to heal your intestinal tract). As mentioned in " Newbie 101", you might have additional intolerances, again resulting from intestinal damage. It is strongly encourage to give up all dairy for a while and keep a food journal...
  14. Yes, you can have just positive out of the all the tests. That is why it is imperative to have all the celiac tests done. Even with the IGA deficiency, you still tested positive. Many people here on this forum have Fibro as well. I have celiac disease and my Mom has Fibro. There could be a relationship.
  15. So, if I am following this correctly, you had a colonoscopy? Everything is normal? That is great! But a colonoscopy is not going to find celiac disease which occurs in the small intestine and not the large (colon). Ask for the biopsies during the gastroscopy (a.k.a. Endoscopy). Keep eating gluten until all testing is complete. I would really push...
  16. Sounds like tinnitus. Not sure if it is related to celiac disease.
  17. Well, if you are backing off on the hormones, it is like going through another menopause. Per the ladies at the YMCA, menopausal symptoms tend to wax and wane into your 80's! Ugh! I never knew that! I have had every perimenopausal symptom there is over the course of 12 years. As I am backing off on HRT, hot flashes are appearing. Hopefully they will...
  18. How old are you? Do you have a uterus? If yes, you should be on progestrone to protect your uterus. The sweating sounds like perimenpause or post-menopause symptoms. Is is possible to be swing from hypo to hyper when you have autoimmune thyroiditis (Graves or Hashimoto's). I had crazy swings during the last two years of perimenopause and undiagnosed...
  19. Bring a notebook. It is hard to recall everything said during an office visit.
  20. Oh, you can download restaurant cards in Japanese. These might help you at the market too! Talk to your friends and get their advice on traditional foods. Your favorite restaurant might work with you too (let you bring your own soy sauce). We eat at a local Chinese restaurant and one of their employees has a sister with celiac disease. We buy a bottle...
  21. Yes, it is the gluten! Symptoms can wax and wane. They can change too. Read this link to our newbie thread: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ You have to treat gluten as if it were poison. No cheating ever!! Oh, you get cold from a virus. Not the weather! Take care! Hope you feel better soon. Feel free to ask...
  22. Yikes! How long was your fracture? I have another year to go before my next scan and I am hoping that the extra calcium and estrogen has build bone. I just want to have a "normal" risk factor when it comes to my bones. You are not a hypochondriac! Just go in with the U of Chicago's celiac website screening materials and the list of 300 symptoms. ...
  23. JD, I am so sorry! Is possible to get a second opinion? Did the new GI doc offer any treatment to relieve you of some of your symptoms? Did you actually see the biopsy results?
