  1. I would get new sippy cups! Too many crevices. Sounds like you have it down.
  2. You have to wait for the biopsy results. I had no visible damage, but the biopsy showed a Marsh Stage IIIB (moderate to severe damage). Hang in there, Mom! Be sure to read our Newbie 101 thread under the coping section of this forum. It contains helpful tips and how to avoid cross contamination.
  3. Our Girl Scout Troop is headed out to watch or town's Veteran's Day Parade and ceremony. We have a few neighbor veterans in their 80's who can march that mile! We are thankful to those who have served (my Dad, Uncles and FIL)and are serving (my niece!)
  4. Good advice, Nicole! I forgot about the T4 and T3 variations as mine have never been out of range -- just my TSH and antibodies vary. Thanks!
  5. She needs to reduce her thyroid replacement again. She is running "hyper" which would not explain her symptoms. Usually you feel hot all the time, have muscle weakness, fatigue (same as hypo), weight loss, and are jittery ( hold out arms and look for tremors). TSH should be between a 1 and a 3. The danger of running hyper is bone loss, damage to the...
  6. I was "barely positive" on just one of the celiac disease blood tests, yet I had a Marsh Stage IIIB score on my biopsy (moderate to severe damage. I personally needed the biopsy to confirm my diagnosis. My husband had been gluten free for 13 years and I knew exactly what gluten free meant -- a life-long commitment!
  7. It is possible. I have cold urticaria. Had it since I was a baby. I get red itchy skin, swelling and big hives. Makes for fun conversation when you are a kid and you rub an ice cube on your leg during a party. Not so attractive as a teen coming out of the ocean. Tough to ski whn it takes 30 minutes to get your boots off due to the swelling. I was allowed...
  8. My 13 year old daughter (negative for celiac disease) has not purchased a school lunch since the first grade. I beg her at times to to buy it, but she refuses. I can not blame her. I have seen and tasted it! It is not so bad making lunches. We use a thermos a lot! It is great that your provider has celiac disease. I would feel confident if she were...
  9. It could be both. My kid is recovering from a cold that had just two days of sniffles, but she has been coughing for three weeks. No fever, feeling okay, but I want her to stop coughing! ER doc neighbor informed me that she will live! Ha! Keep your child well hydrated and give her lots of hugs! Keep feeding her gluten until all testing is complete...
  10. Glad you are feeling better!
  11. I belonged to the MOMS club ( MOMs offering MOMs Support) when my daughter was a toddler. It is an international group. We met once a week at various parks in our city. Easy. Occasionally, we hosted play dates, but that was optional. We took city bus rides, went to the beach, did crafts at the park, games, the mall, fed the horses, picked strawberries...
  12. Hang in there, Mom! Eliminating dairy is an excellent idea. Intestinal villi is damaged and can not release all the various enzymes to help digest foods or, in this case, lactose (milk sugar). Some people resolve their food intolerances eventually. It takes time to cause damage and time to heal. I am sure you will see results in a few more months...
  13. Have you had another HIDA scan? I know you had your GB removed, but did they re-check your bile duct? My Aunt had to have a stent inserted after her gallbladder removal. Her duct kept collapsing and causing GB "like" symptoms. Bile was not moving through properly. I am not sure a CT scan would pick it up. Nothing but the HIDA caught my non-functioning...
  14. That tiny amount can make you sick in hours or days and last for a week or more. It triggers an autoimmune response that causes your body to attack your small intestines. You might be asymptomatic and not realize the damage you are causing. Before i was diagnosed, I was anemic but just thought I was tired due to my age and menopause. I had osteoporosis...
  15. I can not resolve your bread issues, but are you being careful about cross contamination? Is this being baked in a dedicated area in a dedicated bread maker? Read out newbie section under "coping". It contains tips about cooking safely in your kitchen. Just using gluten free ingredients is not enough for someone with celiac disease. gluten-free...
  16. I skip the rolls. I have not made a gluten-free batch that can pass with my extended gluten-eating family. They love my cookies and cakes. I do make the gluten-free stuffing but is disguised with all the traditional savory flavorings! Pumpkin pie with a gluten-free crust is good, but sometimes I bake it without.
  17. Your Ped may refer you to a GI for an endoscopy and that could take a while. So, it might be best to keep feeding your son gluten until you talk to your Ped. He may give you an official diagnosis without an endoscopy (that is fine). An official diagnosis (from a MD) is very helpful when your son goes to school. Oh, my TTG was normal. I only had...
  18. Nice to have a Naturopath, but enzymes or supplements are not going to resolve Intestinal issues, low ferritin, or osteoporosis, if you have celiac disease. You need to get a celiac blood panel.
  19. Eat only in the main dining room. No room service. Get to personally know your head waiter and staff. I track them down after boarding and they can provide me with that first lunch when the main dining room is often closed. Ask about snacks. I had some prepackaged cookies, etc. Delivered to our room throughout the cruise as directed by my headwaiter...
  20. Is she consuming any milk products? I assume that she is not getting accidental exposure to gluten.
  21. Jim, Have you gone to our DH section within this forum? You might find it helpful. Hopefully one of our DH members will catch your posting, but it has been discussed many times before. I hope you get relief soon!
  22. Yes, keep eating gluten until all testing is complete (that means until your January appointment). You can do it! Take care!
  23. Those tests are not very accurate, but it is a start! Try keep a food log. Rotate your foods around. Test the foods on your list. Do you have celiac disease? You might find with healing that many of your intolerances will diminish or go away all together with time (months or years depending on damage). Oh, eat dinner for breakfast!
  24. Sounds good! Thanks for sharing!
  25. I would google a standard recipe from a well-known cook (like someone from the Food Network). You will need baking soda/powder. My very best waffles in the past were made with yeast. But that takes like 1 hour to wait for it to rise, so go for the soda if you are in a hurry. You will need some kind of gum to help bind, but just the egg might do it...
