ARCHIVED I'm Cured!-temporarily?
Nantzie replied to Candy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Maybe it was candida and not celiac. Google candida and see if maybe that matchs your symptoms. Candida feeds off of carbs, but can be brought back into balance by cutting out carbs for a period of time. So that would make a lot of sense for you. Worth a look. Hope you continue to feel better. ARCHIVED Important Personal Questions About Celiac's
Nantzie replied to Mabiac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey! My husband has low testosterone. He uses the Androderm patches and feels much better on them. He also feels much better on a gluten-free diet. He won't go for testing, but he has been "doing Atkins" for a couple months now. The last time he had gluten as a cheat (rather than a non-gluten carb like potatoes) he was SICK as a dog for a couple days... -
ARCHIVED If You Are A Vegetarian.... Why?
Nantzie replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
If you decide to try going vegetarian, really consider taking a couple cooking classes in it. Some of my mom's friends were vegetarians/foodies and they made the BEST food. I'm still to this day kicking myself for not getting recipes for some of their food. Nancy -
ARCHIVED Elizabeth Hasselhoff - The View
Nantzie replied to Lisa's topic in Publications & Publicity
I like what I've seen of Elizabeth. I have to wonder if she is being constantly glutened by Joy. Joy just seems to be the type who would go into Elizabeth's gluten-free food stash and touching everything with gluten-y hands, just to be a b****. I've never been a fan of The View at all, and am even less of a fan of Joy, who always seems to go out of her... -
Just got back from La Jolla. It was good. Only got glutened once. This is after another big, really, really, REALLY bad, drama/trauma with a family member. I ended up almost not going because I couldn't trust that family member with my kids almost at the last minute. That person has been through so much and I really thing just reached the breaking point...

ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
Nantzie replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Definitely #5. I see you're in Fredricksburg! I used to live on Quantico Marine Corps Base when I was like ages 5-8. I still miss it. Beautiful place. Nancy -
Blood in your urine usually means urinary tract or bladder infection. I used to get a lot of them. Is there an emergency room or urgent care center you can get to? You should also tell them everything else that's going on. Sometimes the ER docs are a lot more alert to things than the doctors with the offices. I've never heard of an infection going...

ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
Nantzie replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would say then maybe you should see a GI, just to keep tabs on things. Maybe an endoscopy now, and then another in six months and another in a year? It would be interesting to find out if you do have classic celiac, and if so, the progression, if any, with reduced gluten rather than gluten-free. Nancy -
ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?

Brain Farts!!! That is hilarious. It would totally make sense too in an odd, convoluted way.... Nancy -
ARCHIVED Need Your Help! How Do You Convince Someone?
Nantzie replied to Mango04's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree that it's the idea of it that is worse than the actual living with it. Other than hidden gluten and cross contamination it's WAY less restrictive than even the Atkins diet. My husband is on Atkins, and I have to go without rice, potatoes, sugar and even some veggies for dinner. I just think that the gluten-free diet sounds harder and more overwhelming... -
I've been slightly overweight since I had kids too. You got down to 133? That's awesome!!! I knew my weight wouldn't change once I found out that Cool Ranch Doritos, Butterfingers, Reese's Cups, EZ Cheese and pretty much every brand of chips and salsa was gluten-free. Add to that, Kinnikinnick and Whole Foods, and it's really just sad... LOL!!...

Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry you had such an awful day. {{{HUGS}}} for you. Nancy

ARCHIVED Quicker Test For Gluten Intolerance Touted
Nantzie replied to Claire's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you put celiac in the search window it pulls it up. It's a really short article though so I'm just going to cut and paste. ........................ Quicker test for gluten intolerance touted TURIN, Italy, March 28 (UPI) -- Italian researchers say they have developed a quick and cheap test to diagnose gluten intolerance, or celiac disease, and... -
ARCHIVED A Wheat-free Bread That I Can Toast
Nantzie replied to Lynxear's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My favorite bread is Whole Foods' Gluten Free Bakehouse Sundried Tomato Garlic Bread. Toasted with butter. It's SO yummy. Especially along with a Tinkyada spaghetti dinner. I'm going to have to try that flax bread. A PB&J sounds so good right now. Nancy -
ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
Nantzie replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The thing is that most of us finally came to celiac, and the gluten-free diet after years of pain, misery and hopelessness. It sounds like, although you have found an answer to your digestive issues, other possible areas of gluten-related issues either aren't there, or, since you haven't been 100% gluten-free, haven't become obvious. The way you're... -
ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
Nantzie replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I know this is all a lot to take in. I just want to assure you that we are talking to you the same way we would talk to anyone who has celiac (self-diagnosed or otherwise) and isn't taking care of themselves. Every once in a while we get the same questions you posed, and we are just as adamant about our views. So don't take it as being jumped on because... -
I hate that good people have bad things happen to them. I hate that losing people hurts. I hate that love is the biggest, most painful risk we can take. But above all that, today, right this minute, after working out almost EVERY day this last two weeks... I HATE BACK FAT!!!! Blech.

Vent on! I would be so hurt. It sounds like you have to deal with the manager only. You might want to mention the mix-up to him so that he can talk to her. We get portrayed as hypochondriacs so much that maybe that's what she assumed. She may not even be aware that, as bizarre as this sounds, it's all true. Sorry you're feeling gross already....

ARCHIVED Idea - How About A gluten-free Convention
Nantzie replied to Nantzie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm so excited that everybody thinks this would be fun too. I was thinking a weekend thing would be good at first. I know we could fill a whole week, but that's kind of a lot at first. I actually posted this in the Coping With section originally because I didn't know where the best place for this was either. But it got moved here by a mod. It's... -
ARCHIVED What Is Your Most Annoying Symptom?
Nantzie replied to erin24's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
EXTREMELY FOUL GAS and unpredictable, immediate DIARRHEA. It meant that I couldn't GO anywhere. I couldn't go to the store, to the bank, to people's houses. There were even a couple funerals I missed and that family still doesn't know why I missed. The worst though was when my dad was sick and after he died, I couldn't even go to church because... -
I'm pretty sure you couldn't enlist in the military because if you get sent for combat, you're looking at MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat) which is what you eat out in the field. At this point, they wouldn't be able to accomodate a combat soldier with a gluten-free MRE. I'm guessing though if you are already in the military and find this out, they would...

ARCHIVED I Really Need Some Help I Am Scared
Nantzie replied to mommy2ky's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have you talked to your ob/gyn about it? You should let her know what is happening just in case it's pregnancy related. You should also let her know that you may have celiac disease, and that it runs in your family. If you're not eating gluten, or eating very little gluten, at the time of the blood test for celiac, you can get a false negative. There... -
ARCHIVED Idea - How About A gluten-free Convention
Nantzie posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Wouldn't that be fun? We could have it either centrally located somewhere in the middle/north US, or do a poll on where the most celiacs happen to be, and have it there the first time. Get all the gluten-free companies to have booths there. We could have a cooking competition using gluten-free products. It could just be one basic thing that we can... -
ARCHIVED Why Go Through Endoscopy?
Nantzie replied to radman's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yep, many, many, many, many... Okay, MOST of us here have been told either by family, friends or doctors, at some point or another that we were hypochondriacs. I was told that I was making it up the chronic pain I was in to get sympathy and get people to do things for me. This was after about two years of being in so much pain that I couldn't properly... -
ARCHIVED Ut-oh- The Easter Bunny Is Coming... Does He Know What's gluten-free?
Nantzie replied to Sagesmama's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yea, if God didn't want us to eat animals He wouldn't have made them out of meat. On another note, I'm so excited to hear the Cabury Egg is gluten-free. I usually only have one or two a year (they're SOOO sweet), but it doesn't seem like Easter without one. Nancy
