  1. I found the newer Trix cereal without gluten and bought it last night, along with the newer Cocoa Puffs. I held the box for a good hour debating with my huband why we shouldn't buy it. He won. I brought it home, and the only other times I'd seen my son this excited is during Christmas and his birthday. He literally ate half the box, while I cringed. ...
  2. TCA, I have nothing to offer. But I just sent a fervent prayer from my heart up on your behalf. Keep us posted on her condition as you get the chance.

    ARCHIVED Introduction

Hi Robb - great to have you on board. Can anyone tell me where I can get coconut oil? Maybe a stupid question, but does it come in a bottle or are they capsules?
  4. Lisa, I'm sorry - I didn't get the details on all your symptoms. The symptoms for Crohn's are almost identical to those of Celiac. Many times bloody stools do not mean Crohn's. Do you mind posting all of your symptoms again and why your doc is wanting to rule out Crohn's? (aside from the bloody stool and localized pain)

    ARCHIVED Fiance

Nicole, you totally do not deserve this. You can do better. I won't be as diplomatic as everyone else. Dump this guy...pronto! He must think he's too cool for your celiac disease. If he really loved you, he would be instructing restaurant servers on your behalf.
  6. same with my kids
  7. K, here is a link. Open Original Shared Link. I'll look for more in the meantime.
  8. So the list is growing...Trix, Cocoa Puffs and now Dora. Has anyone had any luck getting through on the cross contamination issue? My son hates Envirokidz and he'd jump at a chance to eat a mainstream cereal, even in the shape of Dora.
  9. I'm so sorry about Grace, Richard. I always wondered who that pretty girl was. My condolences to you. I'm so sorry for everyone else on this board for all of their problems. Sometimes life's so hard. I suffer from depression occasionally, but why I don't know. I do not take medication for it, but I realize that this is an answer for many people. I...
  10. I think we're all related. My family does garbage like that. They all get together and gossip behind my back in my own house about how we are so "problematic" with health and food, then they act all condescending. With family like that, who needs enemies? I've worked hard to keep it together but find myself bitter towards them.
  11. Welcome to my life. You know, a close friend of mine ridiculed my son's problem when we were eating at a birthday party last year. She made us seem like aliens. Imagine my surprise when a year later, her daughter was not only diagnosed with celiac disease but with diabetes. Imagine how she has to prepare for the birthday parties her daughter attends?...
  12. One day gluten free is not enough to tell if the diet can help you. I say give the diet a try for at least a good 2 months. If you don't feel significantly better, then go back on gluten and get tested. My son has celiac disease, but my husband was diagnosed with IBS and had negative results on the celiac panel. He is on a gluten free diet and has responded...
  13. My son gets gas a lot too and has stomachaches caused by the gas. He definitely is not getting glutened. I've yet to figure out the cause, but I know 100% it is not gluten.
  14. Before my son was diagnosed, he was hospitalized with terrible stomach pain, source unknown. He had all kinds of tests, including a cat scan with contrast. The only positive test results were a high sed rate and a high white blood cell count. Both can be indicative of inflammation, but the doctors didn't know what to make of them then. After his celiac...
  15. Hi K. Yes, OCD has been linked to celiac disease. Both my children have it. I don't have any website links to offer you, but you might google it and find them. I know I've seen it out there.
  16. Taz, the problem may be quite simple. Vaginal yeast infections are commonly caused by exposure to moisture. So you might simply try to wash the area and then dry it thoroughly after sex. Also, try not to stay in a wet bathing suit very long after swimming. Try that and see if it helps. But first, treat yourself with the topical yeast infection medication...
  17. Hi. I feel like I have that kind of belly too, and I'm not even the celiac of the family! But seriously, you didn't mention how old you are or how long you've been on the diet. Have you been very sick and underweight? You see a lot of this in children when celiac is the cause. If malabsorption is the culprit, it should improve with time on the gluten...
  18. Hi. What a difficult situation you're facing, and I understand it. While my husband is very supportive, I can relate to others thinking you're nuts about your son's condition and not taking it seriously at all. As for the trembling way your son awakens, it describes - to the "T" - the way my son used to wake up. I didn't know what it was then, and...
  19. Hi moussyluv. You said the blood was bright red, which could probably mean it isn't coming from way deep internally (good sign). It may be hemmorhoids, but you never know. Blood anywhere is something to check out with the doctor. By the way, was it a little blood or a lot?
  20. Sorry to hear this. I know how worried you must be. I agree that you have to re-check everything in your son's environment for gluten. However, remember that it can take up to a year, sometimes longer for the villi to heal. Also, if your son has grown and gained weight, that is a definite sign of some healing (according to my doctor). Also, what do his...
  21. I called them just a few days ago wanted to confirm if their cake frosting was gluten-free, and they told me that they were certain it didn't contain wheat, but that they were presently trying to verify if flavorings contained barley or rye.
  22. Frustrating, isn't it? Dh is negative for bloodtest, but having been diagnosed IBS years ago with horrible stomach problems and having a celiac son, he went on gluten-free diet with very positive changes. Still, he gets sick even with the slightest cc, so it kind of makes me wonder what doctors really know about diagnosing celiac. It would be great for...
  23. Thanks Chels, keep those yummy recipes coming!
  24. Sorry you're going though this. I know how stressful it can be, as we went through something similar with my son. After eliminating gluten and seeing a positive change, he got sick again and I eliminated dairy. After a positive change, again he got sick and we eliminated soy. Then he got better and then worse and better and worse and so on. My husband...
  25. My husband bought a Kitchenaid refurbished one too - the monster size model. I was furious when he brought it home because he knows how much I worry about cc. However, he pointed out that it was really clean when we got it - like new, and it was either use the darn thing or start WWIII. So I washed the bowl and paddles with tons of soap and hot water many...
