I used the various gluten-free sauces for a while, but now I just make my own. Â All the bottled sauces are either too sweet or too spicy for me, I like something in the middle.
-
As a kid we always had punch made with 7up and sherbet at our Christmas parties. Â Can just put it in a big bowl.
-
I use Mccormick turmeric, my primary gluten-free spice brand. Â I would recommend using a food diary to see what else could be bothering you... sometimes it is just from not being healed yet. Â Also, if you are using turmeric to make things like spicy curries, those certainly can cause GI distress

The KAF cake enhancer is something they use in all their cake recipes but they say is optional. Â It makes stuff stay softer and moist longer. Â Ive heard some great things about it but never tried it myself.

Not everyone washes dishes well. if my husband washed the plate, you should rewash before using!
LOL

I would use your best judgement on it. Â Ancient petrified stuck in the nooks and crannies= toss. Â They can run pretty cheap, so if it is a cheap one I would toss and get a new one. Â Let me know how the cookie recipe turns out, I was thinking of making spritz cookies.

LOL Protein!
Â
Â
Â
Well.... The meal WAS a little light on protein..... Lol
Â
What they said! Â LOL
Â
I wouldn't have eaten it, either. Â But hey, nature brings all kinds of creatures to the veggie yard lol.

If it doesn't feel clean, wash the plate again by hand first. Â Usually, though, people are going to clean plates well enough to be okay. Â Of course, not everyone has the same standards of hygiene... so always do a stealth inspection first, lol. Â
-
Yep, you are good to go! Â Enjoy!
-
Yay! Â So glad to hear!

Yeah, if ordering in bulk from canyon (its $5/loaf if you order a case) isn't going to be an option without a big freezer, I would definitely say make your own. Â I know bread recipes can be very diverse and there are mixes, too. Â So ya just gotta have at it and do some experimentation! Â May be worth investing in a good bread knife, etc, so you can get actual slices.

That frozen food shipping can get ya good. Â I tried one of those from a store, forget where, it was pretty good. Â A nice treat.

Looking at old posts, looks like the OP has not been properly diagnosed but has a family history and symptoms.Â

With that being said, Monkeygirl, I hope that with you having assumed that you likely have Celiac disease, that you have taken it seriously and cut down on processed food and eating out from the 4-5x per week you mentioned in a previous thread. Â Sometimes, even if you consume a certain amount of calories, they may not do much for you as far as nutrients go if they are empty calories like corn dogs and stuff from a box (I say the box thing because you are saying at home food is certified gluten free which is often processed food). Â If you still have trouble with family always eating out, try to eat pure foods that don't have ingredient lists- meat, fruit, veggies. Â Like you can make chicken and veggies in the oven pretty easy... feel free to look around the forum for recipe suggestions, it is a popular topic.
Â
When you are healing up from possible (in this case, unconfirmed) intestinal damage from Celiac disease, it is important to be very strict so you give your body the best chance to heal up well.

With those, I have heard that buying the real thermos kind and paying a little more can be worth it. Â Definitely check out reviews before you buy, they can say a lot. Â

Yep, thyroid issues definitely need to be ruled out. Â Other things that can add up to that are dehydration (try to drink more water) and medications (OTC and RX). Â Either way, if you can't figure out what is causing it, and diet tweaks don't help, it is a good idea to go get checked out by a doctor for things they can detect like the thyroid stuff.
-
I have heard that, too. Â I am just afraid to switch up my recipe... but I will have to try lard next year!
-
While neuropathy can be caused my a Celiac ingesting gluten/ untreated Celiac, it can be caused by other stuff, too. Â So if you are getting it much more than usual, a trip to the doctor is in order to make sure there isn't another cause.

I second the use of coconut oil. Â It is a single ingredient product, and if you don't like the light smell of coconut, get refined coconut oil. Â It goes on the skin very lightly and I use it for my facial eczema- every other moisturizer gives me acne which I can't treat in an eczema spot. Â

Making it tomorrow or the day of is fine. Â To heat it back up, just add some broth so it doesn't dry out, and don't overheat it.

Bah, you guys make me want to get an electric roaster!  Last year I had to play  musical oven spaces.... this year I just got a turkey breast roast to do, plus a small ham.

Today is Friday. 6 months ago Fridays were family night-get a pizza, or subs and watch a movie on t.v. and eat. Now 3 of us are gluten free and dealing o.k. with it. 2 of us have since added dairy free. Any ideas for take out foods we could eat? Having Chipotle tonight.Kids won't eat it. So, we let them cheat with dairy and get gluten-free pizza. 2 different stops. This is such a pain! Sometimes I think it's not worth it. I have 7 food allergies and have only eliminated 1 1/2 so far. So, I'm not feeling wonderful yet.
FYI: I am only gluten sensitive, dairy sensitive, etc. So, that's a plus. I don't have celiac.
Â
Welcome to the forum, Christine! Â Are the children Celiac or only gluten sensitive? Either way, the best practice is to do 100% gluten free, especially for growing kids. Â Honestly, the best solution fora family with multiple people with multiple food allergies is to make food at home. Â Check out Chebe pizza crust mix, it is made of tapioca and if you make it without the cheese it is dairy free (and actually better by a few people's opinion here on the board). Â For the toppings you can use daiya dairy free cheese and whatever else you like on top. Â With kids you can get them involved and pretty much get them to do all the work for you, and it will be cheaper in the long run instead of eating out.
Â
It is important to not allow kids to "cheat" on a medically neccesary diet. Â Keeping them on track sets the stage for success in proper self care long into adulthood. Â There are some pizza places that can do gluten-free and DF properly, but they can be hard to find. Â Mellow Mushroom is a prominent one. Â Take a look at the "Find me gluten free" app/website and put in your city, and they usually have very telling reviews of how good a place is to a person that has to be gluten-free. Â A quick phone call to see if they have dairy free cheese, or a look at their menu (many times places that cater to vegans will have dairy free cheese, if that helps you when you are looking). Â You can also just do a pizza with no cheese. Â Once you pile on all the veggies and meats thick, it really tastes the same without the cheese. Â It may be something the whole family can do in support of the two dairy free ones so they don't feel left out.
Â
Another kid friendly place is Chik Fil A. Â Check out their website and they have a great listing, and most I have been to have pretty good employees who will go tell the kitchen staff to use clean utensils when making the grilled nuggets, and their fries are not fried in a shared oil with the breaded stuff. Â Their side salads and fruit cups are usually good and are also gluten-free. Â Feel free to search the names of any local places on the forum here, too, sometimes people will post about those. Â Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Hello, to answer part of the question regarding Febreeze having gluten in it..I was glutened by febreeze twice last week when I went to throw it away and then when it lingered in my trash pail..I'm still learning as I go. But if you're sensitive like I am (lunchrooms and supermarket checkouts with crumbs on the counter), the inhalation when its too close to my face and I'm glutened for the next 24 hours. Just trying to share information that I am gathering as I go..hope everyone is doing alright..xoxo
Welcome to the forum, msbellatex. Â Do note that this thread is a few years old, so some of the people may no longer be active. Â Also, as a super sensitive celiac (Do you have a diagnosis of Celiac?) I highly recommend keeping the discussion of those types of issues in our "super sensitive" section so the conversation is separated to those who also feel they have strong sensitivities to gluten, since that is different from what most Celiacs experience.

Hi JacqT. Â Your tests for Celiac were only done with you eating gluten for two days? Â If so, that is not long enough (see the link Kareng posted) and your tests could potentially be a false negative. Â I highly recommend seeking out proper testing while eating gluten so they can be accurate.
