  1. My cat is still the dirty scruffball she has always been... LOL But on the Royal Canin RX food she doesn't get bladder issues anymore so I am glad for her and my pocketbook
  2. I read that they are just taking that snippet about gluten out of the commercial, I guess we will see tomorrow. It doesn't bother me too much since it wanes in comparison to other things like the joy behar incident, but if all the other advocate groups can make a big deal out of things in commercials and get them pulled, then we should too. LOL.
  3. If you look at the big picture, 900 dollars is a small price to pay for something that can potentially save your life. If it is something that is possible to scrounge up, do it. Healthcare is one area you don't want to go cheap with. Also, if the whole procedure is going to fall within your deductible, some medical offices and hospitals will negotiate...
  4. Most grocery store guacamoles are going to come with a warning about CC when asked. You just have to ask some questions about where it is prepared. Texas must be a guacamole loving place, because our grocery store has a little area in the produce section just for guac and their fresh squeezed juices, so no CC going on there. If it were made in the bakery...
  5. What..... the...... whatt....... wow. Wow. Definitely a horror story.
  6. Yes those hillshire farms little smokies that arlene linked are gluten-free! I will get those and make pigs in a blanket with them, using the King Arthur Flour gluten-free biscuit recipe. I am sure wrapped in bacon is totally delicious as well!! Now I want sausages in bacon. May have to pick some up, LOL
  7. Yes, the opposite of what I am going to do... fatten myself up. LOL
  8. This is a great site, I am glad I signed up with them. I highly recommend them. They also have some great informative articles that can really deepen your understanding of things like gluten contamination in food processes, etc.
  9. I feel this is the best site for finding Celiac-Friendly dining. I leave reviews on it, good or bad, so others can know. Some places will have multiple reviews letting others know it is not safe for Celiacs, and I will know to steer clear.
  10. Welcome to the forum! If you post this same question under the regular forum, under new topic, you will get some more replies.
  11. What is everyone planning on eating for super bowl watching snacks? I am not a big football person, but I do watch the game and the commercials. My husband suggested we break out the deep fryer and make fried chicken tenders and fried pickles since it has been a while, and I agreed that is a great idea. Yum Yum! Hopefully we can leave some ideas here...
  12. Tonight I am making sweet potato and black bean tacos. Tomorrow I will be tired from my IVIG, so I bought one of those Udi's lasagnas. The big sized one. Hopefully it is good... hard to mess up lasagna. I tried their penne with cheese sauce- another one of their new frozen dinners, and it was lacking. Not bad, but not worth the price over the Annies easy...
  13. Yes!!! Definitely go through with it. I totally understand the fear of germs, I am a horrible germaphobe myself, but the benefit of getting needed medical procedures done should not be missed.
  14. It was 80 in north Texas today. What Blizzard? lol
  15. That website can be a good starting point, but especially with the menus they list, they could be outdated and such, so definitely do a second check for yourself. They also include things on the gluten-free menu listings like fries that are fried in shared oil, etc, so use caution and verify yourself.
  16. If your son's total IgA is low, get him to an immunologist right away. A possible immunodeficiency can cause many of the symptoms you describe, but only an expert would be able to tell what exactly is going on.
  17. The author of that book is not a doctor. Also, it was written in 1994, so it is already 20 years old and likely dated. I would be cautious taking any advice from it.
  18. SLE, or Systemic lupus erythematosus, is an autoimmune disease just like Celiac is, and they tend to run in groups. If you were properly diagnosed with lupus, then you will always have it, but that doesn't mean you can't also have Celiac disease. With symptoms you describe, it can be difficult to tell what is causing what, but to at least answer one question...
  19. Great to hear you are healing up! The body has much more IGG than IGA, so in general the IGG number is going to stay higher as they go down. Great progress so far on it! What has your doctor said about the ANA and the bilirubin? It is good to hear that the lupus test was negative... have you seen a rheumatologist? Open Original Shared Link, however...
  20. Welcome to the forum. While there have been limited outbreaks from use of specialized duodenoscopes (equipment that is more specialized than what is needed for a standard endoscopy), even in Open Original Shared Link, they say: "Meanwhile, the scopes' "lifesaving" ability to detect and treat potentially fatal digestive disorders outweighs their infection...
  21. There are a few copycat recipes online... but that may be a dangerous thing to have... lol! I actually hate thin mints. I know, I'm weird. But my husband loves them.
  22. Welcome to the forum! Cyclinglady has left you some great info and links already there, so I don't have much to add there. But let us know how everything goes!
  23. Hi Piper, I move this topic and your pet food topic to our super sensitive celiac section since the experience of being glutened from the sources you talk about are atypical for most people with Celiac. That way people know where you are coming from and can reply accordingly. Feel free to post things there so you can get the answers you need. Do you...
  24. Tonight we were out shopping so we stopped at In N Out.... I brought my own bun. Cracks my husband up when I pull it out of my purse.
  25. I got my gluten-free cookies! I picked up four bags of the trios cookies... they are really good. Those are the oatmeal peanut butter chocolate chip ones. Soft and very good. They only have oats in them, no other gluten-free flours. I want to try and get a hold of the toffee tastic ones, I had someone tell me they are like pecan sandies, which are a cookie...
