  1. If you ever go out to eat at a restaurant a need a fail safe menu item ask for thus 1. Plain lettuce and vegetable salad with no croutons and oil and vinegar in the side 2. Unmarinated, unseasoned grilled plain chicken/steak/fish served with a baked potato or steamed vegetables. 99% of restaurants can do those things. If you order the chicken...
  2. Recently, I was at the grocery store here in Vegas (Von's) I noticed Kozy Shack Puddings -- they have few ingredients and the ingredients listed are not difficult to understand. Here is the website for their products. Open Original Shared Link Every single product says "Gluten Free" in the bottom of each page (in black) I just picked up a...
  3. I ate cheetos yesterday -- no problems...
  4. If its made in the US, its probably corn starch....does it say where the starch came from? Did you call the company? You will probably be ok...
  5. I'm not mad at that them for making a business decision (it allows them to sell their product at a cheaper price and increase their profit)...good ol American capitalism! I only get upset when there is not a gluten-free alternative brand (then my entrepreunerial brain starts kicking in I start thinking about if I could market something like that... haha...
  6. If that were the case, I still probably wouldn't take it. The gluten-free diet keeps my weight pretty stable and my health good... If I could have all the "gluten stuff" again, I would gain 30 pounds in the first month -- haha Seriously...
  7. As much as some of us log on here, its funny how suprised we are when people haven't heard about the whole McD's scenario... Some folks go a few months between log ins -- hence they missed 99% of the McD's drama in here just a few weeks ago... Too funny...
  8. These are funny... In college, I used to make Cheetos/Mashed Potato Sandwiches (sometimes with a little gravy -- normally around 2:00 a.m. -- haha) I think pretty much anything in a corn tortilla is fair game -- salsa and guacamole make everything taste good! I still like making homemade hash browns with over easy eggs (break the yolk and yum...
  9. Bronco, Thank you for taking the time to contact us here at TacoTime. We always appreciate hearing from our valued guests. According to my research the following TacoTime food items or ingredients would not contain gluten: Corn Tortillas used for Crisp Taco Shells and Taco Chips (No dedicated fryers though) **** Cheddar Cheese Pepperjack Cheese...
  10. Please post what you had to eat when you went there. Note -- I usually avoid the chips and salsa as the chips are almost always fried in the same oil as gluten containing items.
  11. If it is being brewed in Cali, then they will probably sell it in Cali (and hopefully Nevada) -- right???? (Bronco looking around the room for anyone that agrees with him)
  12. I have been gluten free for 9 years this November. Life does get better and easier -- the first year was the hardest for me...so much to learn and how to handle the new lifestyle. After forcing myself to read all of Bette Hagman's books, Dana Korn's books and researching every food item at every restaurant I worked at, I finally became a "competent Celiac...
  13. Also, remember that you will need to buy your own condomints (or buy squeeze bottle condomints) and peanut butter -- if they touch it with a knife that has scarped normal bread, those crumbs will come back to haunt you later (if you eat it). Think of the diet like this, if anything has touched gluten, it is NOT OKAY to eat. Period. It takes a little...
  14. You know what's weird? I never eat Jelly Beans nor do I care for them that much. Last night, I had a dream that I was in a room full of Jelly Beans and I was eating them (except for the black ones) -- My roommate came in and said, "Chris, why are you eating those, are they gluten free?" I responded by pelting him with several Jelly Beans and loudly...
  15. I always get the Old Timer Burger (no Bun) with Mashed potatoes and a bowl of Baked Potato Soup The Corporate office told me all of those items are gluten-free...
  16. When I was in college and graduate school, I survived with a George Foreman grill -- it cooks burgers, chicken, pork chops, portabello mushrooms, etc. Also, Thai Kitchen makes a number of microwaveable foods (as does Amy's). If you have just been diagnosed and are healing, it is best to stay away from restaurants for 2-3 months and let your body heal...
  17. FYI, Lays Staxx and Ruffles are produced on dedicated lines (though I don't eat the flavored ones of either)
  18. Lays Staxx and Ruffles don't bother me. Regual and flavored Lays do bother me (Go Figure!) Progresso Soups bother me also (except Creamy Mushroom) Hormel's gluten-free products don't bother me..
  19. Plain Swiss Miss is gluten-free
  20. Online Bill Pay RULES!!! No more licking and no more buying stamps -- you can pay anyone online as long as you have an account number with the bill and they have an address. Seriously, it is sooooooooooooooo easy! Bronco p.s. I have Washington Mutual as my bank
  21. SH, I think you were my source -- haha -- I couldn't remember where I'd read or heard it ... I have e-mailed Gordon Biersch regarding the rumors, I will report back to the group when I know details...
  22. Rumor has it that Bards Beer is now incahootz with Gordon Biersch's bottling plant. This is interesting on several fronts 1. Bards will be available on the West Coast 2. Bards will be bigger than before (if true) I have heard that they will be offering two or three different beers later this year (one of them is supposed to be a chocolate stout...
  23. It is completely normal for your "glutening experience" to cause you to feel worse than before. Mosty people will tell you that getting "glutened" creates far more problems now than before (True for me). Go to the store and buy yourself a $10 toaster. don't ever use their toaster again! -- It will always make you sick. In college, I kepy my toaster...
  24. Whoops, I didn't answer the question correctly -- my bad! They should keep while frozen after they have been opened (as long as they are in a freezer bag or air tight)
  25. As far as the bread is concerned (and the Muffins), they will last a little while longer than the usual gluten-free bread (around a week or more) once opened... FYI, Make sure you toast the Energ Bread -- it might be the kost disgusting piece of food on the planet when it is not toasted You have been warned!
