  1. Hi everyone I have been suffering from gastro pain these last few days - accidental glutening I thought. But then I wondered, I have been taking NSAIDs (a brand called Nurofen here in the UK) because I have inflammation of the sacroiliac joint and wondered could the real cause of this gastro pain be the anti-inflammatory medication? I have just remembered...
  2. I was glutened albeit in small amounts twice in the last two weeks. Yesterday I had a potato salad and an iced lolly at the local swimming pool - we don't usually get much hot weather here in England during the summer months so one has to make the most of it! - and I felt queasy within half an hour of eating, really like the bad old days just prior to my...
  3. Are you finding that you are able to tolerate dairy? If so, that's great, but if you are having issues with dairy (this may well just be temporary) my nutritionalist said it was important to get calcium from somewhere else and has encouraged me to eat tinned sardines which fortunately I have acquired more of a taste for! Eggs are good too for providing...
  4. I just wanted to say that I had sudden vertigo last summer and for months was quite sure I was being glutened, but despite being strict could not find out what was causing it. It came on suddenly, my limbs felt distant and disjointed, it was a weird feeling, and I felt that I was continuously walking on board a ship at sea. I thought I must be suffering...
  5. This new setback has made me look at things again, I was really really strict at the beginning as I kept having blood test results with slightly elevated gamma globulins but the electrphoresis tests didn't show any spikes, just diffuse inflammation. Thankfully the blood straightened out nicely when I went gluten free and I thought, well, I have this under...
  6. Well said, icelandgirl. I hope things do get better for you Nicole and what encouraging responses for those of us whose health issues persist, I think there are quite a few of us out here. Thank you all for sharing.
  7. Total sense - a 'lightbulb moment' in fact! Thank you so much. I am definitely not going to eat out until this joint is better because I am sure that has been the cause of my most recent CC and I have started washing my hands properly every time I make my children's toast.
  8. So for clarification, for a celiac, having traces of gluten in the diet not only inflames the gut but can arguably also cause any other part of the body to become inflamed - for example, the sacroiliac joint?
  9. Thanks so much Colleen, I must read that - never have, even though I've been reading everything else! Perhaps that's where I have been going wrong!
  10. This interests me as before I was diagnosed with celiac disease my bad headaches (which I always suspected were actually migraines because they made me feel sick and I couldn't look at light) turned into aura migraines without pain. The first episode I had was the silver flashing lights, kind of a paisley pattern, in both eyes which was then followed by...
  11. Thanks so much, fellow (ex-)sufferers. So interesting greenbeanie that you had relief after going gluten free. I am just wondering if trace amounts of gluten are getting in and making things worse. I have to share a kitchen with my family of gluten eaters and I'm now wondering about crumbs, gluten in the oven, on drawer handles etc. Clearly what is going...
  12. Well, having experienced all sorts of weird pain in my left rib and left hip/groin area which sometimes made me feel as if my skin were on fire but there was no rash, I have seen a really good chiropractor who has discovered that I have inflammation in my left sacroiliac joint - and boy did I feel it! Yet I was completely unaware of it until she touched...
  13. Thank you everyone. Steph, you do sound like you have very similar reactions to me, perhaps it is the fat. Oh well... back to the tinned sardines (my nutritionalist said I should eat them for my calcium intake!)
  14. I have found it such a relief at last to be able to attribute all the weird symptoms I have been having all these years to Celiac. The diet has forced me to eat healthily and discover that healthy food isn't all that bad after all - in fact I rather like it, plus I don't have the dreadful cravings I used to have borne of years of eating what I liked just...
  15. Just wondering, in the last month or so I have been feeling queasy after eating hard cheese and other dairy products. I have also been glutened twice during this period. I am just wondering, having been able to tolerate hard cheese after a few weeks of going gluten free a year ago, could this glutening be responsible for damaging the tips of the villi enough...
  16. Hi Irish Heart. Reporting back to say scan went well, and probiotics beginning to work! Wish I had taken them a year ago! They seem to make me feel a tiny bit nauseous but perhaps that is just me thinking about it too much. But will persevere as I think the benefits are worth it. Thanks so much for your support.
  17. Odd. My tummy pain used to be more evenly distributed but now it is also mostly left side. Left sided abdominal pain. Left sided nerve pain in chest and hip area. Also left leg seems to feel fizzy sometimes after exercise. I had never really thought about it before. I'm not sure if it is just a coincidence, but maybe there is something in it!
  18. Will do - and thank you! x
  19. Thanks girls! It certainly feels like a war is going on! Good to hear from you, Irish Heart. I have been thinking of you with my burning skin going on still. I'm having a pelvic scan Wednesday to check this burning pain just below the surface of my skin - still no rash - and now this trapped wind isn't anything else. By the way, I typed in skin pain...
  20. So interesting, thank you. I seem to be less upset by the latest dose, perhaps it was because I took the last lot too close to a very strong peppermint tea!
  21. Little Gems, that makes them sound even better! I might try taking one at night, tonight then. After all it is Sunday tomorrow so if my tummy protests I can take it easy. I think I read somewhere that at first there is a bit of a battle going on with the good guys and the baddies so perhaps that's what's happening. I am keen to give them a go as clearly...
  22. Hi mawmaw. The Nutritional Facts on the back state, "Serving Size 1 Capsule - L plantarum (SD1) 10 Billion; L salvirarius (ATCC 11741) 4 Billion and L rhamnosus (TP) 3 Billion. It also says the RDA has not yet been established! Compared with those figures you have given me it seems that these might be far too strong? How can there be Billions in such...
  23. Hi everyone. My nutritionalist has put me onto a very strong dose of Probiotics which I am supposed to take, once daily, on an empty stomach. I have had problems with trapped wind and she is of the view that because in the last 18 months I have had to take three rounds of antibiotics, not to mention having experienced a lot of D around the time of...
  24. Thanks for sharing your experience, Samjayde. I am grateful. I am having yet another scan next week to just check all OK in my lower abdomen area. If that is clear I think I will feel more confident to take some medication - I didn't want to numb any pain (which I gather itching can be, a type of pain) that was trying to tell me something. I hope your...
  25. Thanks so much, my celiac friends, very much appreciated. It is always good to know that I'm not the only one! What a brilliant forum.
