  1. Oh yes--eggs can definately have that effect! I get gas, and terrible nausea from eggs. I find that I can only eat them if they are a small part of a recipe--I could never eat them plain.
  2. Just checking in--hope the banana stayed down! Hopefully he'll nap today--that'll be the best thing for him right now. Cheri--hope your little girl feels better soon! Jules--the whole family? You guys feel better too.
  3. I know--all this time I was afraid it would upset his system to switch! Now, I wish I'd done it much sooner--that stuff can't be good for him, either
  4. Judy--Yep, we bought them last night--I sent you an email earlier all about it. When you want to do a quote, instead of highlighting what you want to keep, try deleating everything in the post you don't want to include. This is what I do. Did you see my post about my cat? I had to share
  5. Well, hopefully, the worst is over. The displeasure over the small portions is a good sign! I usually gave my boys popsicles at this point--hard to get too much too fast with those, and it keeps them busy for a while so they think they're getting more to eat than they really are Hope mom and dad got some rest last night, too!
  6. Hi Judy--nice work on the quoting! Robbin--very well said, you have a real knack for getting to the heart of things
  7. As many of you probably know, I've been hesitant to change my cat's food due to his age--14 years. I didn't know how he'd take to it, as he's kind of an old fuddy-duddy Yesterday, we deceided to give it a try--the worst that could happen --we'd have to give the bag of food to my son for his cats! We bought Science Diet Senior Original, brought...
  8. Jeesh--that'll teach me to go to bed early--I missed all the fun
  9. In her case, I think it's just the normal course of events. When I was first on the diet, I would also get the urge to go very quickly--and have only seconds to make it to the bathroom in time. Luckily, I could be home most of the time, but anywhere I was, I tended to position myself so I could get to the restroom quickly! It can still happen, if I...
  10. I tend to get very few colds and that sort of thing. For years, before I was diagnosed, I would get "sick" a lot--but I now know that these "illnesses" were as a result of the Celiac. I've been gluten-free for 14 months, and (knock on wood) have not had one cold! You may find that as your system dosen't have the gluten to deal with anymore,...
  11. I wasn't on last night at all--sorry to hear that Tim is sick I hope he is better this morning
  12. I know they aren't connected to this outbreak--I was kind of thinking out loud
  13. On my local news, just a couple minutes ago, they said that even if the affected spinach was re-washed, it probably wouldn't have done any good because it (e-coli) was embedded in the leaves. I'm thinking about the fact that I eat bagged salad almost every day. I don't wash it--but even if I did, maybe it wouldn't do any good. I may go back to...
  14. I hadn't heard of the custom hairpieces--sounds like a good idea. Barb, to address your question--sorry to go off into my own hair issues --it sounds like a perm might be too strong for your hair right now. I don't know how long you've been gluten-free, but it might ba a better idea to wait until your hair is healthier. Mine took a while--I'm 14 months...
  15. The 'want what you don't have' is so true I'm right now, fighting the urge to have my hair straightened--I used to do that when it was longer. When I got really sick, and it fell out in patches, I stopped having anything done to it, and had it cut shorter. Now that it's growing out a little, and is healthy again--I want to get rid of this curl...
  16. Evie, Bless your heart for sharing your experiences with us! I hope all of the bad stuff is behind you now, and you just keep getting better! Congratulations on all of the happy events coming up this weekend. Have a wonderful time with your family
  17. Gosh Lynne, I don't know anything about this--but I will keep Ashley in my prayers
  18. This is a recipe I found here on the board-- SOY SAUCE SUB 2 cups beef broth 2 tsp. cider vinegar 1 tsp. molassas 1/8 tsp. ground ginger Dash of pepper, onion powder, garlic powder Combine all in saucepan. Biol uncovered until reduced to 1/2 cup. Store in refrigerator.
  19. It goes without saying that we'll need a full report of this, with a picture
  20. Love it!
  21. Hi Ursula, I've been reading, and everyone else (well, almost everyone--the advice to ditch the gluten-free diet to keep the peace was the exception) has given you great advice. I feel so badly that your own home is not the safe, comfortable haven that you deserve. How dare these people--family, no less, treat you this way. Since you can't change...
  22. Lynne--Thanks for putting it up! I love that picture, you all look so happy What the heck were you worried about you're a very pretty lady
  23. Happy Birthday, Andrea!
  24. Gosh, I'm so sorry that happened! How awful My first thought was food poisoning--that's what it sounded like to me. Of course its possible that it was gluten or something else that you're intolerant to. The same thing happened to me last year while driving--it was terrible! I had to stop at a Dunkin Donuts to use their bathroom, and almost...
  25. Yes, we have one of their stores nearby, and was there recently, as my husband loves their truffles. I was browsing, seeing if there was anything there I could eat, and I noticed that a lot of their items have that allergen statement.
