  1. Thanks for the tip! Will do
  2. Mango-- I just had to tell you that I bought some at WF this morning! Can't wait to try it--thanks again!
  3. Hi Lister--I know you're really trying, and I think you are doing a good job at being gluten-free. These setbacks happen--I know I must sound like a broken record by now, but it is the truth. Please keep at it! There will be periods of up and downs--you just have to stay with it. I know it's a lot easier to stick with it when we feel good--but it's just...
  4. Ravenwood--I always picked my battles carefully, too! Happy to say, it seemed to work well--and even though they're now young adults , I still give my opinion--asked for or not
  5. Bev--Julie listed the legumes--and yes, wax beans are legumes. Chick peas and split peas, also. As far as nuts, I can do almonds--but right now, almond butter is too concentrated for me. I stick to the smaller amount in say, a Lara Bar or a few plain almonds. I don't want to rock the boat!! But I do miss nut butter with apple slices...
  6. Ms. SS--Vincent posted a link to it above. It is a 3-ring notebook of current gluten-free foods, as reported by the manufacturers--put out by the Celiac Sprue Association. I bought it shortly after I was diagnosed. I had no idea where else to get info--I had not yet found this board, and my doctor was no help. I would not buy it again--it is far from...
  7. Bev--I'm glad that the legume thing struck a chord--the legumes are what took me the longest to figure out! I love peanut butter, and was bound and determined not to give that up, too! But on the days I ate it, I would get the bad gas and the sweatiness. The gas was so bad, I literally was afraid to be around anyone--seriously! Add to that, I was also...
  8. Oh no! I feel kind of bad telling everyone how much I like these--I've made them 4 times now, and have had no problems. I have a gas oven, if that makes any difference.
  9. I just thought of something--Rachel, when you are all better, you can use the notes and documentation from this thread and write a book. Really, I'll bet there are lot of people out there that would benefit from all of it. Food for thought.....
  10. Well, I have to say--you look pretty darn relaxed there!
  11. I'm afraid of the spice mixes. I buy individual McCormack spices and mix them up according to what I'm making.
  12. Hi Shelli--welcome to the board! These ingredients always need to be checked, because they *could* contain gluten. There are companies that are very good about disclosing any gluten ingredients, and will not hide them under natural flavor or anything else. Kraft, Con Agra, Hershey, Nestle, Nabisco--those are a few, but there are many others. With...
  13. Bully 4 You makes a good point. I had been sick for many years, with really no help from the doctors I was seeing. I was mis-diagnosed many, many times, and as a result endured unnecessary medications (and their consequences) and all of the other things that come with it. About a year before I was finally diagnosed, I sought the help of a Kinesiologist...
  14. Karen--that looks delicious! I'm thinking I could sub some Vance's Dairi Free for the yogurt to make it dairy free
  15. This is my feeling--when IBS is given as a diagnosis or as an explaination of symptoms, there is really something else going on. Have you thought about additional intolerances? Foods or additives that you may be reacting to? When we remove the gluten from our diets, many times we will feel better at first, but then notice some symptoms returning. Possibly...
  16. Great article! We've been lucky--our cat is strictly indoors. I've heard the fleas can still get to an indoor cat, but it hasn't happened (knock wood) Enjoy the party! Oh--just saw the second article/picture--so cute!! And the new kitchen is gorgeous
  17. Well, peanut is a legume, as is soy. I don't know if there's a connection, but it is possible....something to think about, at least
  18. You're welcome I was happy to find it as I was wondering about those shower gels. She's actually on this weekend, and I'm tempted.....I love it when a website makes it easy to find ingredients.
  19. Hi Rachel--Good to see you're still making progress. You just get closer and closer--I know you are going to "nail" it very soon . About the egg--I don't think I've ever heard of an egg with no white. Separating an egg is easy! Crack the egg as neatly as possible (hit it firmly once--you want a single crack, not a dent). Since you don't want the white...
  20. It has something called tea-lauryl sulfate-- Open Original Shared Link I didn't know if it was the same thing, so I found this-- Open Original Shared Link
  21. I have gone over the thread a few times--I agree it would be very helpful to know if the products listed were verified gluten-free. Because I listed several, I will repeat that all of the products on my list are verified gluten-free (I wouldn't use them if the weren't ) Bare Escentuals mineral makeups are all gluten-free. So is the original mascara that...
  22. I agree with Ursula on the heartburn. While it could just be a pregnancy symptom--did you get it before, also? When I eliminated all of the foods that I am intolerant to, all of my heartburn/reflux problems went away. If you think you may have additional food intolerances, doing an elimination diet can be very helpful. Let us know how we can help
  23. Hi Stephanie--Nice to see you back--and your pretty kitty! (I even showed the picture of your cat to my husband--so cute!) I'm glad to hear that you've been doing well. Sorry, I don't have experience with those crackers--but it sounds to me like they are affecting you. I would stay away from them for a while--certainly through all of these happy occasions...
  24. Sharikay--I wanted to let you know that a diagnosis of DH is automaticly a diagnosis of Celiac Disease. One can not have DH and not have Celiac. (It is entirely possible to have Celiac and not have DH). It is also necessary to be on gluten for the Celiac blood panel
  25. Hi Leigh--This is from my own experience, but as a child and as an adult, I have always experienced anxiety--much in the same pattern as your son. Back before I knew what was really wrong, I would be anxious, and in my 20's, this progressed to panic attacks. Looking back, it would always correspond with stomach upset--something I had frequently. It wasn...
