  1. Me too! My local Acme has begun carrying Amy's Rice Bowls (gluten-free). They look so good, but I know that so many of you have had reactions from them.
  2. Yep--they were mis-marked. Barley is off limits to Celiacs. So glad you read the label
  3. Yea Lauren--I would have, too. I go to the one in Marlton, NJ and they always have more stuff in the freezers both in the back, and in the take-out food area. Sorry you couldn't get a treat for breakfast
  4. I have to pick up a couple of the ingredients, but am going to try it--love that it uses sweet potatoes! Thanks again
  5. B--The TMJ can affect the jaw, face, neck, and arms--I get it all. The reason I never persued the Fibro. for me is that I don't get pain when I press on an area--they're just sore. Much more so when I wake up--and are somewhat relieved by a shower (if I'm lucky that day!). I've often wondered about that, though, because I also get hip pain, and I doubt...
  6. Well, today I heard back from a Customer Care Specialist from Whole Foods in Texas. She told me that the almond butter is not processed in a facility with wheat or gluten, but that they want to follow up on this. Luckily, I still have the jar--she is going to send me the packaging and return label, and they want me to send it back to them so they can have...
  7. Betty--those look delicious! I'm going to try your flour mix--I will just substitute potato starch for the tapioca--can't tolerate tapioca! I've been using the GFP Muffin and Scone Mix--very good, but a little expensive, and I'd rather have something on hand to use anyway. Thankx Oh--what brands of flour do you use--I normally use Ener-g, but am open...
  8. I know Zyrtek is gluten-free--I checked on it when it was prescribed for me recently. I have not used Flonase since going gluten-free, so I have not personally checked on it--like Chelsea said, if it did have an ingredient in there that a person reacts to, I know that a fair amount of it drains down the throat. I remember tasting it after using it.
  9. I make risotto often--my family loves it. I don't follow a recipe, just kind of throw it together. I put some olive oil in a flat-bottom skillet, and lightly saute a chopped onion in it. When it's translucent, I add the rice and stir it around to absorb the flavors. Add 1/2 cup of white wine and stir until absorbed. Add simmering chicken broth by the...
  10. Hi Bev--I have TMJ Disfunction, too. I was diagnosed by an ENT also. My dentist told me to wear the night guard as much as possible--just remove it to eat, brush teeth, etc at the beginning. I did that for a while--but it got old fast, if you know what I mean! It was hard to talk with it in, but that got easier the more I did it. I just wear it at night...
  11. I can't think of any reason why the dough hook wouldn't work with gluten-free dough. Definately go ahead and try it!
  12. The Gluten Free Pantry makes a dairy free sandwich bread. I've not tried it yet--just ordered some. I also ordered their French Bread/Pizza Crust Mix--does not list any dairy in ingred. I'll let you know how they are as I try them. Would love to know how others who have tried them like them! Whole Foods Gluten Free Bakeshop breads have milk in them-...
  13. This reminds me of giving my son prune juice many years ago for constipation. I had a strong feeling he would not want to drink it, so since he loved raisins, I told him it was raisin juice! In a glass, that's what it looked like to him--he drank it happily
  14. Sorry you got sick I used to love to go to Serendipity when we went up to NY. Looks like if we ever go there again, I'll be having a cup of tea
  15. Vincent--your shameless!!
  16. Carrie--The Planter's Fruit and Nut Trail Mix--do you buy that all made up, or do you put it together? I know you're very sensitive, and if you eat it, probably I can too
  17. Sounds really good!
  18. Hi Mia--welcome! Glad you found us--your symptoms sound like they could point to gluten intolerance. Here is a list of symptoms-- https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-01106488270.e2 If you are planning to see a doctor to be tested, don't go gluten-free yet--that could skew the results. Let us know how else we can help
  19. A couple of ideas--Use some sort of shortening or butter, use a whole tsp. of xanthan gum,-- and what is in the flour mix that you used? I get good results with replacing some of the rice flour with potato starch. The reason I sugested the shortening is because the gluten-free flours tend to be drier than wheat flour. Perhaps cut 1/2 cup or so of shortening...
  20. Hi Jaimi--I'm not familiar with Burger King's menu, but wheat free is *not* the same as gluten free. Even if a food is wheat free, it could still contain barley or rye (or oats).
  21. Thanks Mike--makes sense to me!
  22. Rusla--you are so funny! Can't wait to get the rest of the recipe--looks really good
  23. What a nice job! I love that it is up on the deck--so convenient. Looks like you're going to have lots of great herbs to use this summer
  24. Hi Matt--would love to see it! The links don't work for me
  25. Thanks! I have not seen this yet. I had the Jergens last year, but had to toss it when I went gluten-free. I use Dove anti frizz lotion on my hair, and have had no problem with it. Going to CVS today, and will check it out--thanks again Speaking of sunless tanning--I wish more manufacturers would make the towelettes. I used some (before I knew...
