  1. I've been gluten free 5 mos. now and my jaw does not hurt anymore. I had a bite-guard made when I was DX'd and it helped but for the past couple of months, I haven't worn it and my jaw is fine--I don't clench at all during the day and don't think I do at night as there is no more neck or jaw pain in the morning. I have to agree with you--its all somehow...
  2. I hear ya! At least we both lucked out in the husband dept
  3. Everybody is different--my reactions usually last 5 days. Hopefully you will feel better MUCH sooner!
  4. Thank goodness you checked the website before you ate it!! When I think of the times I see gluten free on a label and just assume that its fine--that company needs to get their act together
  5. You are not alone and have come to a good place for support. How long since you were DX'd? Are you sure that you have eliminated all of the gluten from your diet--using separate toaster, cutting board, pans etc.? How about personal care products such as shampoo, soap, makeup (especially lipstick)? From personal experience, I know that it can take very...
  6. Floridanative, Gosh, I could have written your post word for word! The 15-20 yrs. or so that I was "always sick", I think they all thought I was crazy or something--I don't really know. Now that I finally know whats wrong, they don't seem to really get it or really try, for that matter. And my family is what you would call "normal" --we get along fine...
  7. Yvonne, Please accept my deepest sympathy and prayers for you and your family.
  8. Darkangel, I was DX with TMJ also about 6 mo. before the Dx of Celiac. Do you think the 2 are related? It seems like the more posts you read, the more info. you can piece together. Thanks.
  9. Sorry you're feeling so bad. My eczema is only on my eyelid--I've had it for many years--when I went gluten-free, it got better for a while but keeps coming back. Yes, it itches like crazy. I've tried many things for it including RX steriod creams and different moisturizers and nothing works for very long. The red bumps on my arms would appear and be...
  10. I don't get hives associated with my celiac disease, but I do have eczema and when I was still eating gluten, I would get these little red, itchy bumps (like the ones you described) on my inner forearms. I had no idea what they were but I've been gluten free now for 5 months and have not had them in quite a while. It was another one of those things that...
  11. Prior to my DX, I tried Accupuncture. It didn't help my symptoms (of course!) but at that time I had no idea what was wrong with me. I would like to try it again now because I did feel so relaxed and calm after the sessions and now that I know what it is I have, I think it would help now with some of the lingering aches, fatigue etc. I also consulted with...
  12. Getting his eyes checked wouldn't be a bad idea. My son (21 now) had headaches frequently with no other medical cause around the time he started school. He was screened at school, we were notified of a potential vision problem, took him to an Optomitrist who confirmed he needed glasses. Hope your little guy feels better soon!
  13. I also think that The Gluten-Free Pantry Old Fashioned Cake And Cookie Mix is great. It would make good cupcakes, I'm sure. I used it to make a pineapple upside-down cake that was SO good--my husband (not gluten-free) loved it! The texture is not dry or crumbly and it keeps well.
  14. Try QVC.com--I have seen them advertised on air there.
  15. Does anyone know if Oscar Mayer Fully Cooked Microwave Sausage is gluten-free? I think it may be a newer product because I can't find it on any lists I have. Thanks!
  16. If you can tolorate corn, you can use cornstarch in place of the flour in a whitesauce recipe. Before I went dairy free, I did it all the time.
  17. I hope everything goes well for you tonight and you have a great time. I know exactly how you feel--I am afraid to eat out and really haven't all that much since my Dx. I am also very sensitive and am more sensitive to other things now after being gluten-free. I'm 5 months into it now and I hope that little by little, I'll become less sensitive (not to...
  18. That would be a good show and a dream come true for all of us but remember what happened with the Beef Industry when she did a show about their practices? I wonder if she would be willing to rile up the wheat industry? I'm still very much in favor of the E-mailing campaign, don't get me wrong, but I was just thinking...
  19. I order my Bare Escentuals from QVC. If you call the BE customer service # at QVC--1-800-345-4492, they will send you a free catalogue. They have one for Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer. If you order from the catalogue, they reduce the shipping to $3.97 for the whole order. I had been using BE foundations, blush etc. since before I had to be gluten-free...
  20. I've thought all along that Oprah would be the perfect forum to educate the general public about celiac disease. You can count me in!
  21. Oops--I was downstairs starting dinner when I dawned on me that I left out Whole Foods GLUTEN FREE BAKERY sandwich bread. Sorry about that
  22. It varies from person to person but I usually get sick within an hour or two and it lasts for five days.
  23. I buy the Sandwich Bread from Whole Foods. I keep it in the freezer and take it out as needed. Its good toasted (for BLT's ) or just thawed out. BTW, their Cinnamon Raisin Bread is good, also.
  24. There is a Wegmans under construction in South Jersey where I live. It will only be 15 min. away and I can't wait! Should be ready by end of year. My parents have one in Syracuse, NY that they shop at often--my Mom is always telling me about all of the "gluten free foods" that they offer.
