  1. Could there be cross contamination from the slicer used on your ham? Just a thought.
  2. Stephanie, Sorry to get off topic, but what a beautiful cat! I love cats and yours is so cute I had to mention it. Sorry--back to the serious discussion.
  3. The brownies sound really good, I want to try them as today I made brownies from scratch and they turned out dry . I love The Gluten Free Pantry Cake and Cookie Mix. You add vanilla to it and it is moist and very good.

    ARCHIVED Thyroid Drs?

I had a bunch of blood tests done last week by my Family Practioner. Among other things, they tested my TSH--I believe that is Thyroid Stimulating Hormone.
  5. quantumsugar, I checked out their website and found out they carry their products at the Whole Foods near me--I'll be going there on Sunday!
  6. THANK-YOU! I've been looking for chocolate w/o the dairy and soy. I'm going to check it out. I'm excited, too!
  7. Since my DX in June of this year, I've gained 14 lbs. It seemed to come on quite quickly like in the first couple of months. It also seems to be leveling off--at least I hope so . I've never been thin, but before my DX, I had lost weight when I was at my sickest.
  8. I've posted many times of my love of their breads! They have a pecan pie that is yummy. I haven't tried any of their other stuff but they look good.
  9. Hi and welcome! You will find that this is a caring and supportive place to come with questions or just to be around others who know what you're going through. I know it was a Godsend for me when I stumbled on it right after my diagnosis.
  10. Have you tried Bare Escentuals? I have used it even before I went gluten-free. Their makeup line is gluten free althouth some of their lotions and bath products have wheat in them. I really love their makeup--I get it through QVC--if you want it, I'll post the phone# to call to get a catalogue.
  11. Well, my name starts with D so I just E-mailed Oprah. Hope it helps! Maybe its an omen, but as I E-mailed her show, Oprah is on "The Insider". I'm hearing her voice as I write this
  12. So happy to hear your little girl is doing so well. What a great Dr. you have there!
  13. Wow! The store sounds great and the kindness of your boss is icing on the (gluten-free) cake!
  14. If you have a Whole Foods near you, their Gluten Free Bakeshop Sandwich Bread is good. Also try the Cinnamon Rasin toasted!
  15. Sounds like you have some good friends there! I'd give them the benifit of the doubt, too
  16. Yea--I noticed that at the store while reading the label about the .002% and didn't read any further. I use Pacific Foods Plain Rice Milk--they also have a vanilla version which I haven't tried yet. I like it in mashed potatoes--don't drink it plain, though.
  17. I use the Honeydew Cleanser by MyChelle (800-447-2076 for a catalogue) that I get at Whole Foods. They do not use any gluten in their products--I spoke to a rep. there--and use good ingred. such as honey enzymes and fruit and seaweed extracts. Its not cheap but I love the way my face feels-not too dry and no redness which I get from a lot of products.
  18. Never heard about the % of Italians--I'm all Italian, both mom & dad. I think my mother and 1 sister have it but they aren't doing anything about it at the moment.
  19. Terri, I have color treated hair (more than a few grays ) and I don't find it fades the color--actually, my hair is really shiny. I plan to keep using it.
  20. I agree that it takes a while to feel better more or less consistantly. At 3 months, I was still having bad days but after the fourth month, there were definately more good days than bad--thats the point where I felt I had my gluten-free act together and kind of turned a corner so to speak. I'm only five months into it now but the D is gone but some of...
  21. Kaiti, I find it interesting that at your age, you had mostly nausea as a symptom. I am 49 now but had been sick for 20 years or so. The main symptom I had for a long time was nausea and dizziness. I was told it was allergies. It wasen't until 2 years ago, when my symptoms worsened to D (frequent and urgent), anemia, depression, anxiety, wt. loss, tingling...
  22. I used to feel the "crawlies", too especially the 2 years before going gluten-free. It was mostly in my legs in bed at night. Sometines, they would also affect my left arm, neck and face. They are mostly gone now
  23. I've been using their shampoo, conditioner, premium bar soap and lotion for a couple of weeks now. I've been very happy with them. I live in NJ and my order arrived in 2 days. It does make it a lot easier--I found I was spending a lot on trying different things that weren"t agreeing with my increasingly sensitive skin (a lot more so since going gluten...
  24. Well said, Nettie! It just hurts sometimes when people you thought you were close to seem to not want to understand.. I'm really trying to come to terms with this in my own situation.
  25. I agree about the milk! My own opinion is that cow's milk was created to turn a calf into a cow and thats about it. Think about this: cows don't drink milk after weaning, they eat plants and make all the milk they want! My sons are grown now, but even when they were little, I never pushed milk on them and they are both strong, healthy guys (thank God...
