  1. Wow--great info. thanks!
  2. A good, inexpensive, gluten-free lip gloss--Neutrogena MoistureShine Gloss. I get it at my CVS -
  3. "Men twisting God's intent"--I couldn't have said it better myself. I grew up in the Church and it is so hurtfull that this would be such an unbending issue with them. I followed the situation in the paper regarding a little girl from NJ (where I also live) who had her First Communion invalidated because a rice wafer was used. Her mom even spoke to their...
  4. Why would the Catholic Church fear a scandal if they ordained a Celiac? I'm a Catholic and have never heard that and I'm just interested.
  5. Dove soap is definately gluten free. I called the co.--I use the bar for sensitive skin as well as the gluten-free Sav. bar soap. Like them both. For laundry, I use Purex Free & Clear (in the white jug). I called that co. also and was told it was gluten-free.
  6. Thanks for the link, Smunkeemom, I printed it and am going to send it to my mom.
  7. I got an e-mail response from the Co. that said that the minerals, lip glosses and mascara that I asked about were gluten free. I got a bottle if BE lotion as a gift, though, and it had wheat listed on the bottle.
  8. I use Imagine broth --its gluten-free. It is labeled on the container.
  9. You sound like a great mom Happy Thanksgiving!
  10. Hi, I called Butterball a couple of weeks ago and asked about gluten in their turkeys. A rep. told me that their plain, frozen, unstuffed turkeys do not contain gluten. He said that they were injected with a "salt solution". I ended up ordering a fresh Butterball that will not be injected with anything. I'm sure, though, from a gluten standpoint that the...
  11. Judy, I don't know why some of us seem to become more sensitive after going gluten-free. As for getting healthier, I have to say that, for me, that is happening--slowly! My D, anxiety, mental clarity, easy brusing and nausea are greatly improved (unless, of course, accidently glutened). Other things like fatigue, muscle pain in my neck, gas and bloating...
  12. Jen, Sorry you are not feeling well. I don't know if Nasonex is gluten-free or not, but it sounds suspicious and since there are other sprays available, I agree--I'd try something else. I don't know what your nasal/sinus issues are, but I've also had some success with plain saline sprays. They can be used as often as you need them, as they are drug free...
  13. I feel the same way! I never knew what the heck it was, either. It was such a relief to know that thats what it was and that I'm not alone and not going crazy. Its easy to look back and say "ok, I understand it now" but when you're actually going through it, its scary. Head wrapped in an airtight box--exactly.
  14. Funny you should mention Nasonex.. A couple of years ago, pre gluten free, I tried Nasonex and got a strange pain in my upper stomach area. At the time, I thought it was weird that a nasal spray would affect me that way, but didn't think much of it.. I mentioned it to my Dr. who prescribed Flonase instead--which I used with no problem. I haven't thought...
  15. Glad you got your order so fast and that you're happy with it
  16. I have muscle cramps in my calves and feet--usually when I'm in bed. I had them in my hands, also, but those haven't been bothering me lately. I think it might be because of a vitamin deficiancy but am not sure.
  17. For me it was a good 3 months before I had more or less normal BM's. Before that, I'd have good and bad days. I gradually improved and around month 4, pretty much was good every day (except for accidental glutening, which at that point was not happening as much).
  18. I currently take Vit. B12 in a tablet form. Its a slow release tablet. I understand that the body absorbs the sublingual form better than a pill. Could anyone point me to a gluten-free sublingual B12? Thanks.
  19. I'm glad we're talking about this. My mother has suffered from C as long as I can remember. Even had hemmoroid surgery as a result. She has unexplained anemia--they do tests, but have no idea where "the blood went" (I kid you not). She has hair loss enough so that at 74, she has to wear a wig. She has trouble swallowing, burning in her face, tingling...
  20. Deb--Thanks for the info.
  21. I don't know but I know that a number of people here are and judging from my positive results from finally giving it up, I'm pretty sure I am, too. It couldn't hurt to give it a try--the way I understand it, the protein is almost identical to the protein in gluten and the immune system can mistake it for gluten. Makes sense.
  22. I use potato starch for gravy.
  23. It was a message board discussion on casein sensitivity. Very interesting.
  24. George, Thanks for posting that link. I have been gluten-free since June. At the time of my DX my Dr. told me to follow a gluten free and dairy free diet. I have been perfectly gluten free, but I allowed myself to have butter (no other dairy). I've been doing pretty well--but after reading a lot of things here about casien, I gave up the butter about ...
