  1. I get more cramping and the cramps are more painful than pre gluten-free. It may be my age-49- but I don't think so.
  2. I have read "Dangerous Grains" and would recommend it highly.
  3. I make the meatloaf the way I always have--just substituting a slice of my gluten-free sandwich bread, crumbled, for the breadcrumbs per lb. of meat. I do the same thing with meatballs. We really can't tell the difference.
  4. I had the colo. and endo. done the same day, also. The prep was rough--the worst part by far. I have to say that after the procedures, I felt pretty good. Aside from being thirsty, I was fine--no pain or anything. My husband and I stopped at the store on the way home. It must really vary from person to person--
  5. I just got off the phone with a rep. at Bare Essentuals. I had checked by e-mail before, but after reading that some of us are getting different info., I wanted to speak with someone directly. She read me the list of "gluten free makeup products approved by the Chemists"--these included all mascaras and lip products. She is also going to e-mail me the...
  6. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I don't know about the phospho stuff--I had to drink the vile gallon jug of laxitive--the juice and other things you mentioned sound ok, but I wouldn't rule gluten out of anything without checking first. I have heard about people on here that have reacted to Amy's foods even though they are gluten-free. If you...
  7. Glad to hear you're feeling so much better today
  8. WOW--Mark @ Olivio e-mailed me back immediately! I wish other companies were half that quick.
  9. eeyor--Thanks for the update. I just e-mailed Olivio today to check on the spread! My husband bought some and I was hoping I would be able to try it.
  10. Thanks, Claire--that will come in handy many times. Hopefully, it'll work with my rice milk
  11. Nisla--I hope you do cause they sound really good!
  12. Thanks Jen--I get it now!
  13. Thanks, tiffjake, for the makeup tips! Its good to know we have a professional in our midst
  14. I have a problem w/ itching (no rash) on my arms, back, thighs and the inside of my ears. Before gluten-free, it would get awful--even the water from the shower would sting. I tried changing soap, laundry det. etc. Since being gluten-free, it is much improved--I still get it at times, I don't always know what triggers it.
  15. Thats interesting--I've never noticed that warning before. I have taken echinacia before, but it was several years ago--I didn't know I had celiac disease, so I didn't read labels with the same scrutiny that I do now. I never thought that it helped me with colds, etc. so I stopped using it.
  16. Wow--little by little........
  17. Ah--the Black and White cookie, Where I grew up, in Central NY, we called them "Half Moons". Looking at the recipe that Jen found, I bet it could be converted pretty easily.
  18. I called L'Oreal today and the rep. told me that Feria--the kind I use--"has no gluten ingredients whatsoever". I didn't see any on the label--so I went ahead and used it, but its good to know for sure
  19. Hi Liz, I do understand--My husband and son are not gluten-free but this really does not pose a problem for us. The meal that we eat together (dinner) is usually meat, veg, potatoes, rice, or gluten-free pasta w/sauce and my gluten-free meatballs, etc. Regular dinner stuff tweaked a little here and there where necessary. They have their bread, I have mine...
  20. Hi TinkerbellSwt--Welcome! I am from NJ, too. South Jersey, actually. Glad to hear that you're finally feeling better. As everyone said, this is a great place to come to ask questions, or just talk to some great people all in the same boat. I was DX in June and the board has been a lifesaver for me.
  21. Thanks for letting us know its gluten-free. I was reading the label at CVS the other day and was wondering. I've heard good things about it.
  22. Jen and Carrie, Have either of you tried sublingual Vit. B12? I found it to be helpful with my fatigue. After nearly 6 mo. gluten-free, I was still tiring very easily and had a low energy level despite the fact that other symptoms were improving. I tried it about 2 weeks ago and noticed a definate difference in my energy level. I didn't get tired to the...
  23. Yeah Richard, come to think of it, I did too. I identified more with her case than with the little boy. Of course, I was DX at a much older age than he. Just shows how symptoms of celiac disease get mistaken for other things....
  24. Jen-- Keep watching for it, I saw it about a month ago. I think they repeat shows pretty frequently.
