Let me know how you do there! I live about 30 min. from Marlton. Actually lived in Marlton for a few years. When you go, save time for some shopping--there are great stores right there near Changs. I did eat there once--right after it opened, but that was pre-gluten free. It was really good. Have fun

ARCHIVED I Am Putting The "oats Are Okay" Theory To The Test
jerseyangel replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Karen--Hope you get some relief! I remember using the Aveeno body wash a couple of years ago. My skin was itchy and prickly after, but back then I didn't know I was sensitive to gluten on my skin. But we're all different and I wish you luck with it -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pantry Brownie Mix
jerseyangel replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Judy--Sorry you aren't feeling well at the moment . I made the GFP brownies recently, and while I don't have a bag here to refer to, I baked them for the minimum time listed--(I always do that as my oven runs a little hot). Mine were not overly fudgy inside. Actually, what I liked about them was that they looked and tasted like "regular" brownies,... -

Gee Claire--you have so many great food ideas! These look good. -
ARCHIVED Tests Are Back...and I Am Confused..
jerseyangel replied to cherie012's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have 2 sons myself. If I were faced with the same decision, I would try the gluten free approach first. If that solves it, he will never have to go on the serious medications. In a matter of a few weeks or less, you could have an answer, and your son will be healthier in the long run as well. -
ARCHIVED Do You Ever Miss The Stupid Things?
jerseyangel replied to Lauren M's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There is a diner in Cherry Hill NJ not far from us that makes the BEST butter cookies. They make a ton of different varietes--all good. We would always go before a holiday and order a couple pounds of them--stand there and choose our favorites. I miss Ponzio's cookies -
My husband loves mincemeat pie. I want to make one for Christmas, but don't know of a gluten free brand of mincemeat. I searched the board here and came up blank. Has anyone had experience with this?

ARCHIVED Hair Products
jerseyangel replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Moongirl--Aveda products I used to love, but many of them contain wheat. Because of my fear of cross contamination, I don't use them or any "regular brands" anymore. Thats just my opinion, though. I'm using shampoo from The Gluten Free Savonnerie now and like it. No C.C. worries. I plan to try the shampoo and bodywash from California Baby (ordered... -
ARCHIVED Slightly Humourous But Serious Poop Question
jerseyangel replied to lorka150's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Traveljunkie--When you take Immodium after a gluten accident, does it also help with the cramping and nausea? I usually let it run its course, but if that would help, I may try it. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Has Any One Dry Patches Or Eczema On Their Finger Joint?
jerseyangel replied to elisabet's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Since she's already had blood tests, she may want to give gluten free a try. Lucky her--to have you as a coach! (of course, if she is considering a biopsy, she should hold off until after). -

jerseyangel replied to ebrbetty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ebrbetty--According to Open Original Shared Link Nifedipine cap (Novapharm), and Nifedipine ER (Mylan) are gluten free. There was no listing of Procardia there. -
ARCHIVED Has Any One Dry Patches Or Eczema On Their Finger Joint?
jerseyangel replied to elisabet's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Elisabeth--Does your friend have any other symptoms that might make you think she could be Celiac? Dry skin on the fingers, alone, would make me think that maybe dry air, skin irritations or possibly (if it also itches) eczema could be the culprit. Especially this time of year, if you are in a cold climate and have the heat on, skin irritations are common... -

ARCHIVED Slightly Humourous But Serious Poop Question
jerseyangel replied to lorka150's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Lorka--I get very hungry after being glutened, too. Probably the 3rd or 4th day when the nausea lets up, I'm so thirsty and hungry for gluten free carbs, especially. Good luck at the Dr. -
ARCHIVED Good Cereals To Eat?
jerseyangel replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I called the company about this a couple months ago. The rep. told me Rice and Shine was gluten free. I thought it was ok, but I like Cream of Rice better. -
Idahogirl--I don't know about Cover Girl but a good, inexpensive lipgloss--Neutrogena Moistureshine Lip Gloss. I pick it up at CVS--lots of colors!

I feel somewhat different. I grieve the loss of so much of the last 20 years. Don't get me wrong--I have a nice life, great husband and 2 wonderful sons who have grown up to be men I'm proud of. The thing is that most all holidays, weddings, trips--anything that should have been a fun memory is marred by my being either too sick and embarassed to enjoy...

Hi Carly and welcome --I agree with everyone that it is important to keep your personal products gluten free. My personal opinion on whether gluten can be absorbed through the skin is that if certain medicines can work by using a patch or cream on the skin then I would rather be safe and not chance it (I believe Floridanative already said the same thing...

ARCHIVED Arrowhead Mills Rice Flour Being Bitter
jerseyangel replied to taneil's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Arrowhead Mills was the first flour I bought when I went gluten free. I didn't like the taste, but had nothing to compare it to. I use the ener-g flours now and am very happy with them. -
ARCHIVED Mini Gluten Challenge
jerseyangel replied to Nantzie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Nantzie--I know what you mean about your face and the changes in it when you are off wheat. Although I have gained back the 15 or so lbs. I lost when I was very sick pre DX, (I could do without it, but its a positive sign...) my face is leaner looking than ever. Its like you were writing about me--and about the skin looking better--I don't get the breakouts...
