  1. Oh Sande honey, I'm so sorry. Take good care, and all my best to your family.
  2. I agree--it's too warm. Not safe
  3. Lough--no, it's too warm to keep yer casseroles outside. Lord knows, you do not need phood poisoning on top o' everything else! Can you re-stack stuff in yer fridge to get them in?
  4. Sounds cozy--ya'll can make cocoa tonight and stay nice and warm
  5. You're not Right now you are probably feeling the effects of the Big Mac. How about supplements? Do you take any?
  6. Gosh, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all this. I don't know how accurate the home tests are, but if 2 of them came up positive for the antibodies, I would think that means something. Also, Richard is right that not all Celiacs get diarrhea or even any GI symptoms. My thyroid testing has always been in the normal ranges--even at my sickest except...
  7. Being that it's only 3 tablespoons, you could really use whatever flour/mix that you want.
  8. To go with the 1/2 cup of butter/margarine (for this I wouldn't melt it), I would blend in 1 cup of rice flour or whatever flour mix you like, a cup of sugar (white or light brown), and a teaspoon of cinnamon if you want extra flavor--or skip it if you don't. Chop the nuts, add those and spoon evenly over the top.
  9. You're welcome, and good luck with the oats! I miss them too
  10. You are right, they are. The caveat is that they process certified gluten-free oats there too--so technically their gluten-free products are gluten-free, but the 20% or so of us who are also sensitive to oats may not be able to tolerate the products due to cross contamination from the oats. I fall into that category too, and for a long time didn't realize...
  11. I'm making my Thanksgiving dinner tonight so I have one to take on Thursday. Been cookin' me 'ead off
  12. Rachel-24 no longer posts here. I would suggest posting any questions about this on either the "Leaky Gut" or "Related Disorder" forums.
  13. Enjoy Life makes dairy free/gluten free/soy free chocolate chips-- Open Original Shared Link
  14. Nope. It's so nice of your mom to try and cook for you--my MIL and sister have offered too. I'm just so sensitive to cross contamination that hard as they may try, I know they bake in their kitchens, cook pasta in the pans, use cutting boards for bread, etc. I tell them that I really need to bring my own food--I don't want them to go to any extra trouble...

  16. I had nausea for years before I found out. Did the doctor do a biopsy after your EGD last year? Bloodwork? Taking into consideration your chronic inflammation, poor absorption along with the nausea, I would suggest you try the diet now (unless you plan on further testing). We can help you navigate the holidays gluten-free--it's really not so hard. ...
  17. I usually stick to simple candied sweet potatoes--heating butter, brown sugar and cinnamon, pouring over cooked sweets and baking until sticky and bubbly. I've never made them in the crockpot, but I think the same topping could be used over raw sliced sweet potatoes and slow cooked. You could make a ton of them that way.... Maybe stick some orange slices...
  18. Being more of a wine drinker (see av), I've only had Redbridge. For a beer, I thought it was pretty good--although I like a lighter beer anyway.
  19. Hi georgie--goodness, I'm so sorry. Can you call your SIL directly and tell her you will bring your own food--all you will need to do is microwave it and no one needs to worry about what you can and can't eat?
  20. Thanks PeOte--those tips will be very helpful Being me phirst try, I made it just a wee bit thick but it was still really good--I just baked it longer. I will get 2 out of this batch, but next time will divide it into thirds. How great it will be to have a pizza crust all ready to go in the freezer--just like the "old days" Nik!! me son and...
