Posterboy replied to BushbabyLou's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
BushbabyLou, Niacin is a histamine regulator in the body......once you become too low in your body....it goes "Haywire" to quote a technical term. If you begin taking some Niacinamide it should help your Sjorgen's Syndrome symptom's...... But you are not only low in Niacin but Riboflavin and Thiamine as well......so taking Niacinamide with...- 37 replies

T-Burd, I think Knitty Kitty has given you good advice. I don't have much time tonight but I was curious about Niacin connection (if there was one in PMLE and sure enough it has been studied before. See this study about it.... Entitled "Treatment of polymorphous light eruption with nicotinamide: a pilot study" aka NIacinamide. https...

Scott, (et al) If Thiamine was not the trigger (IMO) then your Thiamine levels would improve on a Gluten Free diet.....but just the opposite happens. See this Australian study entitled "Nutritional inadequacies of the gluten-free diet in both recently-diagnosed and long-term patients with coeliac disease" https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23...

Supplements
Posterboy replied to Grandma Mary's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Grandma Mary, They have all given you some good advice. Nature Made Vitamins are 3rd party tested for purity and potency but I find the form matter more than the brand, per se assuming they are Certified gluten-free of course....... I wrote a blog post about how to supplement and why you would want to if your a Celiac or NCGS patient. Maybe... -
Low Ferritin
Posterboy replied to Angela1287's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Angela Et Al, If it is gout taking Magnesium Citrate should help it. I did this research a few months back for a friend.....and I am still amazed to this day how many things Magnesium can help with. See this research about it. Entitled "Plasma magnesium and the risk of new-onset hyperuricaemia in hypertensive patients" https://pubmed... -
Russ, I just wanted to add this reference work on Vitamin and Mineral interactions for you to read up on it is the most comprehensive I have read on the topic.....and to introduce the concept of Co-Factors. https://deannaminich.com/vitamin-and-mineral-interactions-the-complex-relationship-of-essential-nutrients/ Co-Factors are like the Key...

Sabaarya, For Magnesium Form definitely matters. The easiest and best forms to take are Magnesium Glycinate (most expensive) and Magnesium Citrate. Don't take Magnesium Citrate as a powder until you have found how it is going to affect you. It is so quick dissolving as a powder (in water) that it can act as mild a laxative. In Tablet/Pills...

Low Ferritin
Posterboy replied to Angela1287's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Angela et Al, Trents has given you good advice. The trick with a B-Vitamin is to take it multiple times a day with meals. Once a day is not enough.......you can see this by how your urine changes color. Riboflavin will start to change your urine to a yellow color.....when it begins to bypass through your kidneys. Riboflavin also helps... -
Scott et All, I don't think I could convenience you either way but I do know Celiac disease IBS, Chrons, UC, Heartburn (GERD) etc. happens when Low Stomach acid is ignored or overlooked in GI Disease(s) etc. Howard Hughes Medical Institute aka HHMI debunked this theory years ago (20 years ago in fact to this year) but PPIs and H2 Blockers are as...

Are some of us over doing our Protein intake ??
Posterboy replied to Jackie Garrett's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Jackie Garrett, I think Scott has given you good advice. I am late to this conversation......and I have only lightly scanned the topic......so this might or might not be helpful. But it is a misnomer that in an average person diet that we can change our bodies acid base from our diet alone. If you read all the way to the end of the article... -
Kate333, You might try some Lecithin......I started retaking it again recently.....it has really helped my focus. It can be brought in granules or as a Liquid gel (capsule)......best taken with meals. I knew about Lecithin before.....but it had been a while since I had taken it......but I cycled back on it recently.... And while I have...

To All, I recently rediscovered this research on Lactose Intolerance and a Thiamine deficiency and thought it deserved it's own topic. Entitled "Effect of dietary thiamine deficiency (aka Vitamin B1) on intestinal functions in rats" https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/6465054/ I will quote the whole abstract because I think it is instructive...

Posterboy replied to KittenPA's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
KittenPA, My nephew is going through this now!......and the doctor's can't figure it out because the don't understand basic nutrition. You will become low in Iron, and Copper, and Zinc and Magnesium etc.....IE your minerals when your stomach acid is not strong enough to dissolve them.......what your stomach acid can't dissolve your Villi can't absorb... -
Kate333, Knitty Kitty has given you good advice! Taking some Benfotiamine (it has a much higher absorption rate) than standard Thiamines found in B-Complex's...like 6 to 7x as much.... Benfotiamine has successfully been used in Diabetic Polyneuopathy..... See this article about it.... https://www.naturalmedicinejournal.com/journal...

Marcel G, I see this alot......we get low in nutrients then we get sick.... See here how Lysine can help your child's Mouth Ulcers.... Entitled "Clinical success of lysine in association with serumal and salivary presence of HSV-1 in patients with recurrent aphthous ulceration" https://www.researchgate.net/publication/267202860_Clinical...

Rogol72, You have found good research on the Molybdenum it a master "detoxifier" trace mineral and will be depleted in with SIBO or if someone has Candida etc. Here are some resources that might help you. Eon Nutrition has in the UK has done great work on SIBO. https://www.eonutrition.co.uk/post/thiamine-deficiency-a-major-cause-of-sibo https...

Rogol72 et Al, I just wanted to say Knitty Kitty has put you on a good path. A Thiamine deficiency is woefully overlooked. Here is a nice overall summary of the many ways a thiamine deficiency can show up in the chronically ill. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21912244/ quoting the whole abstract for easy review. Thiamine supplementation...

Refractory Celiac?
Posterboy replied to J Morgan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Liz and Trents, There is some evidence to suggest Low dose Aspirin at night can help BP.....generally considered to be best when taken at night time to lower BP. My doctor's recently started me on 325 EC to be safe on my stomach.....and to help thin my blood. Here is the research on it... https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28684123/ I... -

Posterboy replied to J Morgan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Trents and Wheatwacked, Trents, Wheatwacked is right....it was a setting in Edge. Here is some of the citations cited again with links......I don't have time to summarize them again tonight.....so I will try and be brief with just links and a small explanation. https://www.mayoclinic.org/medical-professionals/digestive-diseases/news/gluten... -
Refractory Celiac?
Posterboy replied to J Morgan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Stuart Et Al, First off I am no up to date on this thread......so if someone else has mentioned this already I apologize in advance. But I have found that helping my low stomach acid going undiagnosed/or misdiagnosed as another GI condition helped many of my remaining GI problems after going gluten free. I would also suggest going dairy (casein... -

One Giant Crunchie, Scott is right.....Knitty Kitty and I do know a lot about nutrition....IE supplementation because we found taking our "Missing Nutrients" was key to help us feel better. To Whom Ever Might Read This, This is triggered by some research Scott shared with me. Entitled "With age, insufficient tryptophan alters gut microbiota, increases inflammation" https://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2021-06/mcog-wai062321.php And the very recent research I came across that shows Celiac disease (by monitoring our Microbiome...

Posterboy replied to BNGed8's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
BNGed8, Scott has given you good advice.....they might be gluten free but it is better to go with those labeled to gluten-free to be on the safe side. But I wanted to note.....You need to find a good form of the Magnesium and Thiamine aka Vitamin B1... Knitty Kitty cited the best link on it.....on how to find a good Thiamine form....that is...
