I haven't tried this recipe yet, but she says it is a bit like a popover (although with lots of cheese). Open Original Shared Link -

ARCHIVED Abnormal Screening Mammogram...worried
RMJ replied to icelandgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I hope that it is only a benign cyst and that you don't have to wait too long to find out. If i knew how to insert a "hug" emoticon I'd put one here for you. -
ARCHIVED Abnormal Screening Mammogram...worried
RMJ replied to icelandgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I worried a little but didn't freak out. I've heard that being called back for more testing is pretty common. It is one reason that some people feel that too many mammograms are done - all of the false positives/callbacks cause too much emotional stress. -

Bunnies can eat more than one type of hay. If alfalfa bothers you, you could try timothy. Although it might be hard to always buy the type that doesn't bother you. i think the local house rabbit society sells a mix (at least they used to - it has been years since I had a bunny). -

ARCHIVED Cost Of Celiac Genetic Test?
RMJ replied to hazelnutty42's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The idea of doing genetic testing of relatives is to rule out Celiac. If ruled out, that's it, no more testing. If it is not ruled out, antibody testing every few years. -

ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance May Not Exist? Thoughts?
RMJ replied to SiandAshs Mom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some researchers now suggest that people diagnosed with NCGI aren't reacting to the gluten, but are reacting to another component of the wheat. If someone is on a gluten free diet, they are also basically on a wheat free diet. But in the study you reference, it looks like purified gluten was added to the diet. That study would not detect a reaction to... -
ARCHIVED Labs Completely Different From 2 Different Labs? One + One -
RMJ replied to StephanieL's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Several percent of the people tested. That is what it means to have a specificity of 96 or 97%. It is not accurate 100% of the time. -
ARCHIVED Labs Completely Different From 2 Different Labs? One + One -
RMJ replied to StephanieL's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I used to develop tests for antibodies. They are not perfect. Run the same sample twice and the numerical results will be off by a bit. If a different person runs the test, or it is run on a different day, the results will be further off. I looked at information on the FDA website for one manufacturer of celiac DGP tests. When two different tests manufactured... -
ARCHIVED Discouraged And Needing Your Advice...
RMJ replied to herbgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Edited: Oops, I meant to post this in a different thread. Sorry if it is not relevant here. I used to develop tests for antibodies. They are not perfect. Run the same sample twice and the numerical results will be off by a bit. If a different person runs the test, or it is run on a different day, the results will be further off. ARCHIVED Trader Joe's And The New Fda Law
RMJ replied to TGK112's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is from the FDA website: Are statements like “made with no gluten-containing ingredients” or similarly “not made with gluten-containing ingredients” permitted on labels of foods bearing a gluten-free claim? Yes. Neither the final rule nor FDA’s general food labeling regulations prohibit the use of a statement like “made with no gluten-containing ... -
I had an unexplained episode of double vision. Since I do get classic migraines, the neurologist finally decided it was a variant of a migraine. This was before I was diagnosed with Celiac and went gluten free. I get far fewer migraines now.

ARCHIVED Does Sensitivity Increase With Time Since Gluten Free?
RMJ replied to Redbard52's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you for posting that - I searched for such papers and didn't find this. I guess I didn't use the correct search terms! -
The titer result is probably from the endomysial antibody test. The titer of 1:160 means that when your daughter's serum was diluted one part her serum and 159 parts diluent, it was still positive. That is a high positive for that test.

ARCHIVED Thinking Of Intentionally Glutening Myself.
RMJ replied to GFAnnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I understand your desire to test yourself with a bite of gluten. I was diagnosed because of chronic migraines, and I'm not sure if I have digestive symptoms or not. I sometimes have nausea, but don't know if it is because of eating something that was contaminated with gluten or not. It would be nice to know, because then when nauseated I would search for... -
ARCHIVED Gene Testing
RMJ replied to lc1333's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
