  1. Giving her the travel card is is good idea, but not on its own. You really, seriously, need to sit down with her, and have a private talk about gluten. Let her know you really appreciate her efforts, and that you haven't told her about her gluten mistakes because you didn't want to hurt her feelings. And while the goodies were delicious, only your family...
  2. You know, Georgie, little piglets you wrap up in a warm blanket when they get cold, especially in winter.
  3. Andrea, I love that picture of your kids. Happy New Year to all of you, too!
  4. I'm glad your experiment was a success. It sounds really nice.
  5. Happy New Year to you too, and everybody else here. I wouldn't know what to do without you.
  6. Momma Goose and Rebecca, do you realize that you just replied in the TEENAGERS ONLY forum? Tippy was not asking if it was okay to hang out with you 'older teenagers', but rather if it was okay to hang out with the 'real teens', as being older.
  7. Rachel, I just popped in (I do that very occasionally, and I've given up keeping up with this thread). What you just said about autism is fascinating, and makes a lot of sense. I quit several Asperger forums, because those people were absolutely adamant that autism is only hereditary, and that trying treatments of any kind with autistic kids was abuse...
  8. Hi Laura, and welcome to this board. I see a few possibilities here. It could be celiac disease, that's one possibility. If you really want to give it a good try to see if it's the problem, you really need to cut out all gluten, or you'll never know. Eliminating all gluten means not just wheat, but rye and barley as well. And you'd really need to make sure...
  9. Echinacea and Zinc will NOT harm the baby. Especially if all you do is suck Zinc lozenges, and drink echinacea tea. Also, it is completely safe to up your vitamin C, since any excess is just excreted with your urine. I was going to suggest making hot lemonade with honey, since that is fairly effective. But I guess that's out because it's citrus. Other...
  10. I used to have terrible all over body pain, requiring me to be on codeine 24 hours a day for five years. Yes, dairy could be a problem. So could soy, though. I don't think that soy milk is safe for anybody. My joint pains and gastrointestinal problems were caused by lectins (of which gluten is one), and the allover body pain was caused by salicylates....
  11. I use the Genestra brand. It is very expensive, but is the only one I can tolerate. It really has no junk in it, and is hypoallergenic.
  12. These are the ingredients I would question: This is what I found on Yucca Schidigera: Here: Open Original Shared Link Maybe that is what is happening, your bowels are being cleansed. If you do some more studying on Yucca, you will find that it is widely used as an arthritis remedy. It might be the Noni, too, or the black cherry juice concentrate...
  13. What kind of lemonade? What are the ingredients?
  14. You know that your son could have become autistic due to vaccine damage? Somehow, many kids are perfectly normal until vaccinated, and then show definite signs of autism. With many it is around the 18 month to two year range, when they get their booster shot. They'd show signs of reacting to vaccinations with earlier ones, but recover. But often the booster...
  15. I have Asperger Syndrome. Going gluten-free has not made me any less autistic, but it has greatly helped with meltdowns. I only get those now when I have been glutened. I don't believe that celiac disease causes AS, but rather that autistic people are more prone to having celiac disease for some reason. Which is not to say that celiac disease and casein...
  16. Yes, those are usually my first symptoms as well, the D doesn't usually show up for at least another day, sometimes it's delayed by up to a week.
  17. Excellent decision, Jerry! I hope you get the answers you've been searching for.
  18. The link to her website is in her signature. Click on that, then scroll down to the bottom of her home page to find the links to the newbie survival kit.
  19. All most psychiatrists can think if is to prescribe antidepressants. Those are dangerous, and in your case, useless. You know that it's gluten making you depressed. Do your utmost in being gluten-free, and tell the rest of your family that being glutened makes you depressed, as gluten affects your brain. Ask them to help you out by making sure they don't...
  20. It is not the butter that is making you gain weight. It's the sugar and the starches. Butter is healthy, and the replacements are not. Splenda is a terrible choice for replacing sugar. Try agave nectar, stevia or maple syrup instead. Gluten free replacement foods are very high in starches and sugars. In order to lose weight, you will just need to try limiting...
  21. Check out these links, to see if any of that fits. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  22. It is true that a gluten-free diet can fix the thyroid. But it didn't work for me. Actually, being heat and/or cold intolerant can be a sign of hypothyroidism. And feeling very hot and flushed is as well. The reason is, that your body is so cold, that the normal temperature in people's houses makes you feel way too hot. I always have my thermostat no...
  23. Liz, you're not selfish or a whiner. Having a kid act out the way your son does would be very emotionally draining. If you're worn out, you won't have the energy to be a good mother. There is only so much you can handle without breaking down. I know I would feel the same way as you. You need to look after yourself, in order to be able to look after your...
  24. Have you ever been tested for low thyroid? That can cause your whole system to slow down, including your intestines. And even if your blood tests appear to show that your thyroid function is normal, temperature is a much better indicator. If your body temperature is consistently below normal, you have a problem with your thyroid.
  25. Hi Marcus, and welcome to this board. Your symptoms could be from celiac disease, other food intolerances, but are also very suggestive of low thyroid function. Is your body temperature consistently below what is considered normal? That would be one telltale sign of hypothyroidism. Yes, even if all the tests appear to be 'normal'. I suggest several...
