ARCHIVED Is This A Huge Issue?
icelandgirl replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I totally understand where you are coming from! I was diagnosed the same way...blood only...no mention of endoscopy until I got on this site and by then I wouldn't do a gluten challenge. I also improved a lot in the first few months and then have had some setbacks. I'm still trying to figure out. The only thing that bothers me sometimes is...what if there... -
ARCHIVED Almost 1 Year, Which Anniversary Should I Celebrate?
icelandgirl replied to C-Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Celebrate each one...then when you get 1 year symptom free do a big celebration!! I look forward to that one too...not sure how long, but I'm hopeful. -
Oh...I'm sorry...that's rough. I still have the D...not as often...but I hate it every time. Here's hoping for a resolution to this for you and lots of normal bowel movements ahead! (Hugs)

That's a tough one. I'm in Colorado and don't know of someone like that. You could ask your Dr to test you for deficiencies...D3, B12, iron, etc. 99% of what I've learned post diagnosis has come from this site, doing my own research and lots of reading. No Dr has been able to help other than order blood work that I specifically asked for. If you do...

That sounds bad Beth. I'm so sorry you are going through this. One thing I've done to speed up my appointments is calling regularly to see if they've had any cancelations. I recently had an appointment that was 6 weeks out but got it moved up 3 weeks with calling. Maybe try that? And what were you thinking sharing your good news! I feel the same....

ARCHIVED To Biopsy Or Not?
icelandgirl replied to roxweb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I didn't have a biopsy. My GP did the bloodwork, told me you have celiac and stop eating gluten and sent me on my way. He should have referred me to a GI, but he didn't. I was so ill that I was just happy to have a diagnosis. 2 weeks later I had my gallbladder out and during that recovery started researching and found out about the biopsy. I was not... -
I don't know much about it but wanted to send you (((hugs))) and positive thoughts. I hope that you get some answers and that you feel better soon.

ARCHIVED Pre-Occupation With Health
icelandgirl replied to cristiana's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It's so interesting how different we all are. I would love to have a little of what bartfull and Nicole have. So jealous of your ability to deny right now! Lol! Colleen...thanks for your suggestion of mindfulness...I will look into that. Nicole...I think you are right in that we have access to so much info now and that can be good or bad. When I... -
ARCHIVED Pre-Occupation With Health
icelandgirl replied to cristiana's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh girl...you know I do. I'd love some ideas for coping as well. I wasn't always like this...but having the 4 diagnoses at one time: celiac, h. Pylori, gallbladder polyps and uterine polyps turned my world upside down. A few months later I had a breast cancer scare and just a few weeks after that Hashimotos. I realized that I wake up with fear to some... -

ARCHIVED Hormones, Hashi's And Celiac- How Does This All Work Together?
icelandgirl replied to icelandgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Ladies...I hear you. I messed up. I called the endo and they had a cancelation at the end of the day. I'm going in. My actual prescription is for 112 Monday-Saturday and half of a 112 on Sunday. When I was feeling jittery I guess I thought I could try it...Instead I messed up. :-(- 144 replies

ARCHIVED Hormones, Hashi's And Celiac- How Does This All Work Together?
icelandgirl replied to icelandgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm not trembling now...but like 10 days ago I was...so I switched from my 112 mcg to 100 mcg. But that wasn't enough before so I'm wondering if that'd the case now. Today I took 112. I really don't know. A friend of mine has Hashis and she has had tingling and numbness when her meds have been too low. I'm trying to go with that for now. I'm due for...- 144 replies

ARCHIVED Hormones, Hashi's And Celiac- How Does This All Work Together?
icelandgirl replied to icelandgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hey Nicole, Gemini, CyclingLady and all others who know more about the thyroid than I do...which is most of you! I've had this tingling in my feet and fingers(at times) the past 4 days. 10 days ago I was feeling all jittery, trembling fingers and such so I went to my lower dose of thyroid med. Could this tingling thing be not enough thyroid med...- 144 replies

ARCHIVED Hormones, Hashi's And Celiac- How Does This All Work Together?
icelandgirl replied to icelandgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Kim...interesting on the tingling. Does it annoy you as much as it does me?? Hashimoto's is autoimmune thyroid disease. It's fairly common it seems for celiacs to have both. Your thyroid was removed? Then I don't know if you can have it or not. I'm not sure how that works. Without a thyroid to attack I would think the Hashi's would go away...- 144 replies

ARCHIVED Hormones, Hashi's And Celiac- How Does This All Work Together?
icelandgirl replied to icelandgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Kim and welcome... The thyroid issues are such a pain! If the thyroid is working well, all is good...if it's not, it's a nightmare. I've been having this weird tingling in my feel and fingers the past 3 days and I'm wondering if it's related to the thyroid. Too much med? Not enough? I don't know. I'd love to get this thing nice and stable! ...- 144 replies

ARCHIVED 1 Year On Gluten Free Diet, But Still Have Inflammation
icelandgirl replied to egger's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I so agree with waitingindreams...removing carageenan was huge for me. My bloating and D were literally cut in half removing that substance which was in my almond and coconut milk. I'm 8 months in and I still have some inflammation but it has improved a lot. I was diagnosed with Hashis a month ago as well so having the thyroid checked I'd always a good... -
