ARCHIVED continued pain, nausea, testing and oats.Ennis-TX replied to ironictruth's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms NOTE the seasonal blend of candies like M&Ms, Hershey, Reese that are normally gluten-free are not the seasonal ones are made in a different facility and are pretty much never on the gluten-free candy list every year. On a side not your should probably avoid the Processed foods like breads, and dressings. Stick to whole foods and stuff from scratch...

ARCHIVED Endo for child?Ennis-TX replied to Fbmb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms The official diagnosis will help in the long run. There are some government programs and school programs that can help out, and these require the full diagnosis. Getting it down now might be worth it in the future to prevent having to introduce gluten again later and do it. It is your child and your choice, perhaps someone here can give you more details and...

ARCHIVED Monsanto Roundup and CheeriosEnnis-TX replied to Mike12345's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Always just stick to porridge, and stewing grains like buckwheat and rice. Flours from sorghum and coconut I know make a hearty porridge along with gluten-free Harvest oatmeal. I honestly miss grains and carbs in general they stopped agreeing with my stomach a bit over a year ago, Coconut Flour porridge is the closest thing I can eat a full serving of.

ARCHIVED Feed store sorghum?Ennis-TX replied to olesoulle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications As mentioned by GFinDC Could work but you will have to go through it, I almost guarantee there will be other grains in there other then sorghum. Issue is here is about how sensitive you are also. A lot of people still get sick from products made gluten-free by mechanical separation. They are still touching and causing some form of contamination. The feed...

Well this has me a bit concerned, I know I have had celiac for years, But as of late I started having really bad issues in my large intestine, mostly extremely blood stool, bunch of yellow mucus, night sweats, and sometimes just dropping clotted blood when I feel the need to go to the restroom. I have scopes in under 2 weeks scheduled, doctors said it could...

ARCHIVED How do you cook for family?Ennis-TX replied to stacie1121's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Stir-Fries, Soups, Baked meats and sides of stewed, roasted, grilled, sautes, steamed or boiled veggies......the combinations are endless, I love omelettes, and stir fries myself, I do not handle carbs or meats well. Now that winter is in huge pots of soup for a week flavoring differently with seasonings when served is cheap and effective. I have a friend...

Yes, I did I have responded on a few topics only have it disappear. I have stopped responding as often as of late on post, gets a tad annoying wording out a post to help someone then Poof. I assumed it was a issue with my stuff just not going through from my end due to rough internet past week but nice to see it might not have been just me.

So something is not agreeing with me, bloated, gassy, and cramping really bad. I can press where it is painful on my gut and hear a loud gurgling sloshing noise and get a pain that pulses from the front to back with extreme pain. So process of elimination of what is new in my diet, It could be the lettuce I just got cross contaminated, It could be the roma...

ARCHIVED Puffed Rice CerealEnnis-TX replied to Frances03's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I use Erewhon brown rise crisp when I make something for the farmers market using puffed rice. Tad expensive but I ran into issues with always some kind of allergen or cross contamination with Kellogg, Barbara, Arrowhead, etc. If you have to you can order on amazon.

ARCHIVED Smelling gluten in air or fried gluten food mood reaction?Ennis-TX replied to Awol cast iron stomach's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I have issues walking through or near the bakery at supermarkets, I sometimes get a gluten like reaction with the mood swings, numbness, fog, tightening neck and swollen lymph nodes. I was informed by others that this could be flour in the air, as it tend to float around a bit in that area. Unsure of the exact responses or why but I assume since celiac is...

ARCHIVED Severity of Celiac Joint PainEnnis-TX replied to emma6's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I had more muscle aches then joint, sometimes the knees felt like glass in them under the knee caps or my hands would stiffen feel slow and painful. I can't take NSAIDs either due to internal bleeding issues. I did the Epsom soak back then along with oral magnesium supplementation in drinks. I now take a collagen supplement and a joint support supplement...

ARCHIVED Private Selection Vanilla Coffee?Ennis-TX replied to mrsfunkway's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Very intriguing I noticed something interesting in this, in Europe they use wheat in caramel coloring, this could be relevant to several of the members here. As to coffee and flavoring, I have found a few companies that have admitted to using barley malt in flavorings. These are normally labelled but there was that one issues I mentioned before where they...

ARCHIVED anxiety, celiac, problems, doctors, i'm lostEnnis-TX replied to Jm34's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease It honestly got a tad stupid how I would fix stuff, bit from paranoia but I used to just open the pantry, spice door, and fridge and get everything ready then put on gloves and fix my meal without touching any handles so I knew my food would be safe. I also laid out butcher paper on the counter so nothing would touch it (this also makes cleaning up real easy...

ARCHIVED Private Selection Vanilla Coffee?Ennis-TX replied to mrsfunkway's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications It is not uncommon to use Barley Malt in flavorings in coffees, it could be you will have to wait for the email to be sure. I checked private selections but they say they will list any known allergens when they are used in their products. I do know Kroger had a issue a month or so ago about a product containing malt in the "Flavorings" and not mentioning...

ARCHIVED anxiety, celiac, problems, doctors, i'm lostEnnis-TX replied to Jm34's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I would say go with what GFinDC suggested and go on a whole food only diet, nothing processed for a while, A food elimination diet might also help, you might have developed a intolerance to some other foods so try removing certain foods completely from your diet for a week then reintroducing them to see if feel different. I have heard of others developing...

I would suggest investing in new dedicated gluten free cook ware and dishes. At least for now perhaps use disposable? Might make SURE that is not the issue. Also the prep environment, it could be the surface you fixed it on, or something you handled that had been previously contaminated, IE Fridge door has batter smears, residue on knobs, handles, and counter...

ARCHIVED Dating and celiac diseaseEnnis-TX replied to pdm1981's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Done this, in most cases they have to let you bring your own meal to things like this or to theme parks, movies, etc. where they do not have safe food. If you have to bring food cause of a medical reason as long as your paying for something they normally let you. I sometimes go out to eat and just order a drink or something I know is safe (Raw Veggies) and...

ARCHIVED Dating and celiac diseaseEnnis-TX replied to pdm1981's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I posted on several dating sites, I have mentioned the disease. Stated that I would prefer someone who eats gluten free, or is willing to change for it. So far no fish., I am a tad broken but I am a very good cook, I OCD clean, and have my own place completely gluten free....OK very broken but still.

ARCHIVED Coffee?Ennis-TX replied to Fbmb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I have no experience with K-cubs would I would not trust instant things like that. You have to be careful with certain brands that run flavor lines in the same facility on any coffee. I use a few brands I trust that do not do "Added Flavors" or have gluten-free certification. Most people never have issues with coffees, I have personally ran into starbucks...

Ugg I hear you, I am safe in my bubble I call my home, I am bloody allergic to CORN in America, I got one of these new biodegradable plastics bags at a grocery store the other day and ended up with a burning rash and a fever as it was made of corn. Top it off with other issues, I am lucky my pollen allergies can be dealt with antihistamines, I have responded...

ARCHIVED Best gluten-free flourEnnis-TX replied to mbrookes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I normally order my flours for baking from authentic foods online and have them shipped to me. I tend to use almond, oat, and coconut blends along with their garfava blend for savory herb quick breads (bit like cornbread/pancake). Starchy blends never been anything I would use.

ARCHIVED What to do with amaranth flour?Ennis-TX replied to Pegleg84's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips Yeah I have a random bag of sorghum and millet laying around....Thinking I might try making a pumpkin banana bread combo with each one and give them away tomorrow. Got them for baking but learned you can not sell anything made with sorghum at farmers markets around here as it is against health regulations. (odd rule) And the millet was a tad grainy but should...

ARCHIVED Peripheral Neuropathy, gluten, and dairyEnnis-TX replied to Raspberry's topic in Related Issues & Disorders Gluten is present in wheat, rye, barley, etc. A different kind of gluten protein is present in some other foods but not the kind to worry about (IE corn gluten is a different kind of gluten) If you wish to cut out dairy you do not have to give up yogurts there is So Delicious Coconut yogurt available and even in unsweetened versions ends up being healthier...
