    ARCHIVED Relapsing?

I'm just begining to see what MAY be light at the end of a looong tunnel - been nearly three years gluten-free for me I think. Maybe more, but not sure. Blame a brain fog, though I don't recall having that
  2. Biscuits are easy to make, and work well for sandwiches. I'd like to think something like pancakes could work too, so that would be super easy and quick for a sandwich type thing. I'm sure you'll get plenty of fine suggestions from the many helpful members here.
  3. Well, the truth of the matter is; once gluten intolerant, always gluten intolerant. Many report that after being gluten-free for awhile, the sensitivities increase. It is the opinion of many that the immune system has had time to recoup, so it is stronger and more capable of reacting to the offending substance. Also without a constant irritant, subtle...

    ARCHIVED Frustrated

Though I haven't had weight gain, I do know that muscle weighs more than fat, so you need to watch inches, not just the number on the scale. It may be that your system is getting more nutrients from your diet, so it's more effectively putting them to use building muscles and such. That would be my first guess.
  5. I also had a lot of swelling in my feet and legs, and staying off the salt did help some. However, I now can use more salt without a problem (unless I really go overboard for a few days). It seems my malabsorption was at least part of the problem I had with salt. Plus I can also have more proteins, carbs, and fats with less of the problems I had from those...
  6. As I understand it, the acid isn't from the food itself, but from the stomach. The hydrochloric acid of the stomach is supposed to be very strong, and it is produced in response to food in need of digesting. I heard it is normally strong enough to dissolve the flesh off a human hand in three minutes! So it stands to reason that it would hurt to have such...
  7. Well, I can't say the whole room spun or anything, but I was finding it somewhat difficult to maintain good balance before taking a sublingual methylcobalamin (vitamin B12). That aside, I had rooms spinning, beds flipping, and all that stuff from intestinal yeast overgrowth (it was likely candida). For that, staying off all yeasts and sugars did wonders...
  8. All the ones you're asking about are gluten-free. That's not to say they will agree with your system, nor does it guaranty against CC. But fortunately, they aren't the sort so often processed along with wheat, like oats usually are. Hope you like whatever you choose.
  9. There you go! It figures there would be places offering to do it, and of course they don't use the original battery either, as those it would seem are garbage. Thanks Laurie.
  10. That can work for some types of batteries, but not all. Fortunately, todays portable stuff don't usually use lead-acid anymore, because draining those kills them pretty quick.
  11. I recently realized that before I started taking vitamin B12, my teeth were sorta "leaning", and though the front ones didn't look different, I kept on accidentally bitting my lip Not only does that not happen anymore (thank goodness), but I have noticed my gums look better.

    ARCHIVED Sle

Perhaps this will help: Open Original Shared Link Personally, I think the range of symptoms from Celiac is practically unbound.
  13. Firstly, I think you already have a diagnosis - via the diet! Second, not having D doesn't mean much if anything. Everyone has their own unique set of reactions, and many have C, D, or neither. Try not to look for an exact match to any one person. You'll likely share various symptoms with different people. If you want to continue to eat gluten, suppose...
  14. I've never looked at those things, but apparently they don't have an ordinary replaceable battery? That stinks! Anyway, I'm sure I could replace the battery. You'd be surprised what's possible when you have experience with such things If they put it together, then it comes apart too. Most times the manufacturer doesn't design a totally new battery,...

    ARCHIVED Relapsing?

It does sound like you've gotten glutened, but if not then it may be similar to what I experienced. The muscle pains eventually got quite debilitating. That is until recently when I decided to try a magnesium supplement. The phrase "Works like magic" is how I might describe it. I did start with a sublingual methylcobalamin supplement some time earlier...
  16. OK. Hope you like it. I don't recall that brand showing up on my radar, so I can't comment on it. The non-GMO means no genetically modified organisms. I think most expeller pressed oils get subject to some heat, but not sure just how much. But the rest of the specs look fine. It should smell and taste like fresh coconut, and melt in the palm of your hand...
  17. Here are some places you can check for a sour cream substitute: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Seems to me it shouldn't be too difficult to make a kind of sour cream like thing. Like whipping some combination of tapioca/sweet white rice/soy flours and/or rice/soy milk with some guar gum. Then a little something for the sour taste...
  18. The vinegar which is known to aid in curing/relieving heartburn is apple cider vinegar. Be certain it's the real thing though, not just flavored vinegar. It's been awhile since I looked it up, but I seem to recall that there is a particular compound in the vinegar which encourages the stomach lining to do its job, or some such thing. Some people need...
  19. By far the best way to diagnose an intolerance to gluten is by trying a gluten-free diet. That is also the only treatment. Thankfully, neither of these requires a doctor. So the question you need to ask yourself, is if you want blood work or other "official" tests to tell you to put your child on a gluten-free diet, or do you want to try it right now and...
  20. Well, this isn't a subject I can truly address, except that there's always a reason why the body doesn't do as it is supposed to. A drug seems like "let's create another imbalance". Like putting lotion on dry skin; the skin isn't supposed to dry out in the first place. Find the cause, and solve the problem, not cover it over. I know that may not help you...
  21. I can't stand the sight of needles, so I understand completely. It was actually this forum which gave me the incentive to try the B12. I gave up on doctors years ago, to answer that question. You don't need any prescription for vitamins, and the sublingual methylcobalamin has been proven to be just as effective as the shots. The fact is, taking...
  22. When I researched the oil, I found only two or so brands that have a truly top quality product. The oil is extracted by centrifuge. The one I tried was indeed fabulous, though sadly beyond my budget. So instead I use organic shredded coconut, which tastes great in everything I've put it in. Here's a Open Original Shared Link on this subject, in which I...
  23. I currently use this Open Original Shared Link from Now Foods. It does impart a bit of acidic taste, but it doesn't usually mess up the overall flavor of the meal unless the volume of food is relatively small. I did try their calcium/magnesium powder, which also has vitamin D. It tended to impart a slight taste I didn't appreciate, as the vitamin D comes...
  24. The thing that has helped me most in this area is a magnesium supplement. I use a powdered one for quick absorption. I wasn't specifically looking to boost energy, but it certainly has that benefit. Perhaps it's the increased nutrient absorption (which was my goal), but in any case I wish I'd started using it a long time ago. Seems to help me sleep more soundly...
  25. Sure - I'd be happy to send it along, and I'll probably post a thread with a few variations too. I actually love coconut so much I add it to all the meals I've been making thus far, even rice/pasta dishes. Seems to go great in everything. It's soooo yummy, and it does indeed give the body energy because the MCFAs get burned so easily. I use an organic unsweetened...
