  1. During the week I usually have Knickiknick bread toasted w/ cashew or almond butter. Weekends are either french toast made w/ same bread, gluten-free English Muffins w/ nut butter or eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. Mmmm. I'm hungry now!
  2. If you don't like the one you made an appt with, I can send you the contact information for mine. She's great, and her daughter is gluten-free so that helped a lot!
  3. I've used Vicks Vapo Rub and it cleared up a mild case. Old wives tale - maybe.... can I go without nail polish now? YES!
  4. Yes!!! I have to have my room totally dark, and on the weekend will even put on a sleep mask to block the light. I also block any lights from TV's or my cordless phone (power on kind of little red dots). My favorite trick is to block the clock!! Not only do I not get the red glare, but just looking at the time sends my anxiety zooming.
  5. He could try some melatonin - which is what the body produces to make you sleepy. It's available at most drugstores or natural stores. Personally, I use Ambien. I've had trouble sleeping for years too.
  6. The one time I was brave enough to do a gluten challenge, my first symptom was brain fog - and bad! Good luck!
  7. Yeah, nothing like being high maintenance date - on top of being a single mother who hasn't had a good date in a few years re-entering the dating scene. Yikes!
  8. Broccoli, apples, grapes, pears all seem to help me sometimes
  9. Ok - reader's digest version: I'm 38, divorced for 3 years, have mostly full time custody of our daughter. Which means very little time to myself, let alone meeting people. So, after thinking about it I've decided it's time to put myself back out there. This whole wheat/dairy free thing is pretty new for me. How on earth do I go about bringing it up...
  10. I use the regular Rolaids and am fine. I also use Pepcid AC. (Which will also say "we don't put gluten in it, but can't guarantee the suppliers...."), It's just a CYA thing. But do NOT get "fast melts or chews", those DO have gluten.
  11. Back to the BRAT diet.... Bananas, Rice... more Bananas and Rice...
  12. My boss treated us all to pizza for a Holiday Luncheon. And yes, she knows what I can and can not have. She did offer to order salad, but I didn't trust it. Instead I showed up at the lunch (which was in our conference room) with my own food. Personally, I would talk to the boss if you can. If you're part of the team and you're being rewarded you...
  13. I was told to give up dairy, which was so hard for me. I slowly reintroduced it about 3 months after going gluten-free and still had trouble. I gave it up again until just a few weeks ago and have been having a bit of goat cheese here and there. (so yummy!!) Goat cheese supposedly has a different protein then regular cheese and for some is easier to digest...
  14. I think all the Knickiknick stuff is good... try the chocolate donuts too!!
  15. My aunt gave me this cookbook, it's called Cooking Free - for people with multiple food sensitivites Open Original Shared Link
  16. Make some jello!
  17. The last time my daughter threw up she'd just had some Cheetos.... I'll speak no more about that incident. Is Pedialyte gluten-free? Otherwise I'd stick with water or a mixture of water/clear juices until he lets you know he's hungry, and then very small meals. Popsicles are good too. My daughter did have a marathon incident where I actually...
  18. I asked myself that last night as I opened the bottle... never found out a real answer... but dang it was good (and I seem to be fine).
  19. My grandfather was in Hospice, and it was such a blessing! It was a beautiful facility, it had a family room with things to keep the kids busy, a giant bird cage - and you could get birds to keep in your room if you wanted!! They let us hold family activities there... good memories... I don't think you could go wrong volunteering there.
  20. My dr. put me on two weeks of Diflucan. He warned me the die off would make it worse before it got better - and he was right!!
  21. For me, Brain Fog is like a spaced out (or stoned - if I knew what that meant ) feeling. I do get the occasional tonge-ties and brain farts (like looking in the fridge for the dinner I just heated in the microwave)... but hard to tell if it's from anything or it just is.
  22. I mostly order from Knickiknick... great breads, wonderful treats - including chocolate chip cookies!! The shipping is worth it, only $10 up to a $200 order. Welcome!
  23. If it's just been today, I wouldn't worry. Keep a journal and keep track of your moods. You're going to have some grumpy days, who doesn't?
  24. Finally - a response. I did see the Almond Macaroons in the store and they do clearly list wheat in them, although they are on the wheat free list according to their website. I sent a message and hopefully they will fix it - fortunately we are all so good at reading labels now! We are working hard to respond to all the messages we received during the...
  25. My brother lives there and he told me we went to Carraba's Italian Grill... they menu is on line so you can check it out and see if there's something she'd like.
