  1. Patti, it's so good to see you're back and feeling well. You were sorely missed.
  2. Uh oh, Patti... Was it the Gibble's chips you reacted to?
  3. My daughter has not been diagnosed, but she was definitely reacting adversely to gluten. She is currently gluten free and doing VERY well on the diet. We can definitely tell when she's been glutened, so I'm pretty positive she also has Celiac. I think I read somewhere that the chances of a first degree relative having celiac disease were like 1/20 or something...
  4. If you have Turkey Hill products near you, they are definitely safe so long as you read the label. Mmmmmm.... My favorite ice creams EVER!
  5. I'm assuming your girlfriend is Celiac, right? You could make her baked chicken and vegetables (no sauces). I buy a whole Purdue chicken and season it with butter, garlic, and paprika. McCormick spices label clearly and most are gluten free, stay away from spice mixes though. That'll make your life easier. Anyway, there are directions right on the Purdue...
  6. I'm not trying to get into a fight here. This is all I'm going to say on this topic. I just wanted to note that it is possible to have Celiac Disease without having one of the currently known Celiac genes. I believe there are several on this forum who have Celiac (biopsy diagnosed) that do NOT have the genes.
  7. Please note that when Kraft lists the following, the product is still deemed gluten free UNLESS wheat, barley, rye, or oats is mentioned: vinegar, modified food starch, enzymes, natural flavorings, artificial flavorings, caramel coloring, maltodextrin, etc. Any gluten containing ingredient will be labeled using it's common name: wheat, barley, rye, or...
  8. If you make a side trip through Lancaster County PA there's a really cool old railroad called Strasburg railroad. They still have an old steam engine running that you can take a ride on. It's actually very romantic riding the train. I think they're still open in September. Open Original Shared Link
  9. Here's the recipe I use... Open Original Shared Link It's fantastic. It tastes "normal".
  10. There could be many many reasons causing your lack of sleep lately. 1. Celiac lifts the haze, typically called brain fog, and allows you to think much more clearly. Now that you're thinking more clearly you may find it harder to stop those thoughts at bedtime. 2. You may be starting to absorb more nutrients if intestinal damage is healing already. This...
  11. I agree with dlp, however, the gold standard of diagnosis is both biopsy and bloodwork positive. Luckily, after you get the biopsies and bloodwork out of the way, you can go gluten free immediately to see if the dietary change makes a difference. You don't need to wait on your results to try it. Many people test negative on both biopsy and bloodwork and still...
  12. Patti! You're back! How are you feeling?
  13. I gained almost 30 pounds on the gluten free ice cream. Ugh... If only I would have realized it would be harder to take the weight back off while being gluten free. It used to be so easy back in the day... Where's our closest Wegman's? I didn't think we had one around here.
  14. Have a great day, Rusla! I hope you're feeling well enough by now to thoroughly enjoy it.
  15. If you live in the US, just read the ingredients on the ragu jar... Ragu is made by Unilever and they will clearly label gluten as wheat, barley, rye, or oats. Classico sauces are gluten free and delicious. For pizza sauce I use Wal-mart's GV brand. It's very good and it says gluten free right on the jar.
  16. Where's Easton? What's the place called? I think Easton is further than Doylestown, but I'm really not sure. I'm willing to drive pretty far though for a gluten free meal that's relatively safe. I can always find something to make a day trip out of the excursion.
  17. Phew... That's good to know. I'm almost 8 weeks and last time I was pregnant the retardation kicked in around 12 weeks, so I'm trying to cover all my bases before then on the important stuff. I don't want to get glutened the day after having my baby. Last time I was so sick I didn't get to enjoy it. This time I really want to enjoy it.
  18. Does anyone have a list of safe brands of ginger ale? I'm afraid I'm going to forget to find out and then end up at the hospital to have my c-section and not know what I can safely drink. Are the standard brands safe like Canada Dry and Seagram's?
  19. There's a museum right around the corner from the pizza place called the Mercer Museum. Google it. My husband says he's been there and it was really cool. He said it's pretty big and not exactly a traditional museum. Maybe John would be into that???
  20. We're over an hour and a half away from there. I Mapquest-ed it last night. Still may be worth a trip out there.
  21. Thanks kbabe... That may actually be worth making a trip all the way to Doylestown.
  22. I give my dog dry dog food and carrots. She loves carrots. She also occasionally gets meat scraps from our daughter, but not usually intentionally.
  23. If Kraft says it's safe, it's safe. They're one of the few companies that we can actually trust as Celiacs. I eat their cheeses all the time and have never had any problems and I'm pretty sensitive.
  24. Bard's Tale makes Dragon's Gold Lakefront Brewery makes New Grist Ramapo Valley makes Honey Lager (don't know the exact name, but it gets bad reviews) Anhuiser-Busch makes Red Bridge I think those are the standard ones. I know there are a few others, but I don't know what they're called.

    ARCHIVED Angry Boy!

Gluten can absolutely cause behavioral problems. That's a fairly common symptom in young children.
