(ldn) Low Dose Naltrexone Therapy?
PinkyGurl replied to Woolygimp's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I started LDN a few months ago to help fix my small intestine bacterial overgrowth. A good portion of celiacs have this issue. LDN is a prokenetic meaning it keeps the blowers flowing. It’s a big factor in treating SIBO properly. I have 5 autoimmune diseases so that’s why we choose LDN for my prokenetic. We are hoping it will help everything else. I... -
Many of Walmart’s great value brand items have this disclaimer in it. That just means that it’s either made in a facility that also has wheat in it or on the same lines. It’s their cover their ass statement. Technically the sauce is made from gluten-free ingredients but Cross contact may have occurred.

ARCHIVED Has anyone tried the Fasano diet?
PinkyGurl replied to PaigeyPants's topic in Super Sensitive People
I don't know what that diet is but I know a lot of us celiacs have leaky gut and small intestine bacterial overgrowth. Please look into Auto Immune Paleo Protocol. It actually proven to help with many auto immune conditions where people can't get their inflammation in check. -
ARCHIVED How much gluten is in a communion wafer
PinkyGurl replied to Deades's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Any gluten is too much. Speak to your pastor about what you can do for communion. I don't believe for one second God would want you to be eating poison just for communion. Don't do it! -
ARCHIVED Warning About Amy's Frozen Meals
PinkyGurl replied to ChamomileTea's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm super sensitive celiac and I have never had issues with Amy's. One of the few companies I trust shared lines because of their strict cleaning protocols. -
ARCHIVED Celiac and emergency room visits
PinkyGurl replied to RoxPet's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Nothing the MDs give you via IV contains gluten. Gluten is found in oral drugs because it's a binding agent or filler. Since IV meds are liquid they don't need bindings agents. So the versed and fentanyl yo received are not the issue. -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's Grilled Chicken
PinkyGurl replied to jststric's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hate to tell you but McDonalds French fries are NOT gluten free. The "natural beef flavoring" contains wheat. Their hasbrowns are also fried in the same fryers thus making them NOT gluten free. Lots of Miss information by this poster. -
ARCHIVED Aldi gluten-free Bread Availability?
PinkyGurl replied to JonathanG's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It was pulled a while back due to egg contamination. My Aldi's just got it back in stick this week, so hang in there slowly but surely it's shipping back out! -
ARCHIVED Biopsy negative
PinkyGurl replied to Hatbox121's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Celiac biopsies aren't taken from the terminal ileum they need to be taken from the duodenal bulb and 3rd portion of the duodenum. Which is reached by an upper scope not colonoscopy. If your GI believes he adequately ruled out celiac I'd find a new GI who knows what he/she is doing. -
ARCHIVED Levothyroxine question
PinkyGurl replied to Victoria1234's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
When taking thyroid meds yes you need to take on empty stomach with water only 30-60 minutes prior to eating. You should also avoid dairy or calcium containing things 4 hours around the pill as it decreases absorption. Magnesium at bedtime will be fine as it leaves plenty of time before your thyroid pill. Another option is to set an alarm for in the middle... -
ARCHIVED Still trying to process
PinkyGurl replied to Jules22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yea even deficient in IGA she is very positive. Your little is likely celiac. Ditto to still eating gluten till the endoscopy. It is important to have it to correlate the diagnosis! -
Gluten removed beers are not gluten free nor are they safe for celiacs. About 6 months after I was diagnosed I was given one of these beers...I didn't know then what I know now. I wanted to die that night. I spent so much time on the crapper I just slept on the bathroom floor. It took me 2 weeks to work through the rest of the symptoms. Brain fog, fatigue...

ARCHIVED just got my daughter's biopsy results :(
PinkyGurl replied to tarab87's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes celiac causes damage and inflammation to the small bowel. Once she goes gluten free her body will heal and she will feel loads better. -
ARCHIVED Gluten and inability to lose weight?
PinkyGurl replied to BarryC's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Problem is if you eat processed gluten free foods you will gain weight. Eat clean (meats, fish, veggies, fruit, and limited gluten-free carbs such as potatos) and exercise and you will lose weight. -
ARCHIVED Brianna's Salad Dressing Gf?
PinkyGurl replied to Anya78's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

PinkyGurl replied to EenieNeNe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Why didn't they run a TTG Iga? I see a TTG IGG and Gliadin IGA and IGG's. the TTG Iga is the main one they look at. -
From your post it sounds like you diet is a bit unbalance(nuts and carbs). You should be eating meats, cheese, carbs, veggies, fruit and good fats. (Avocado, olive oil)

Hi jamie111. I had the SAME thing! Turned out I also had hashimotos which is often seen with celiac. I would have your thyroid antibodies and thyroid levels checked. My antibodies were up but my thyroid labs were "within normal". I saw my endocrine and told her of all my thyroid symptoms and she was amazing and started me on meds (very low dose) and wow...

ARCHIVED New diagnosis, blood antibody questions
PinkyGurl replied to Meg k's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Interesting question for sure. My TTG Iga was 48 and I had no villi severe damage. We are very sure I became celiac when I was 12 as my symptoms started then and not on single MD connected the dots. I'm 34 when diagnosed. My endocrine said that often times when you've had a autoimmune disease for a long time you antibody levels are actually lower because... -
ARCHIVED 2 questions regarding test results...
PinkyGurl replied to elykoj's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The blood panel is only for celiac. They do not yet have a blood test for gluten sensitivity. Many people with silent celiac eventually get tested because they pop up with anemia or vitamin deficiencies like vitamin D. Unfortunately by that time the person has likely had the disease so long and are at higher risk of future auto immune diseases. Silent... -
ARCHIVED Price of a endoscopic biopsy ??
PinkyGurl replied to elykoj's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's very hard to estimate that because prices vary sooooo much throughout the country. Find out what faculty they want you to have the endoscopy at and then call their patient financial services/billing dept and ask for an estimate of costs for an out of pocket payer. They should be able to give you a much better idea. You can also discuss Financial assistance... -
ARCHIVED Do I have Celiac or DH??
PinkyGurl replied to sck's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
DH is the skin form of celiac. Only way to know if you have celiac is to get tested. Start with your primary and request the celiac blood panel. The also request to see dermatologist if you skin thing is still there. -
ARCHIVED Tested positive for Celiac with no traditional symptons
PinkyGurl replied to DianeWayans13's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sadly he should NOT have told you to go gluten free tell you see a GI doctor and have an endoscopy to get a actual diagnosis! IMO you should get back on gluten immediately and see a GI specialist for end and biopsy. -
