  1. I love my Zoji!!!! I also have the X20 that I ordered from Amazon last Dec when I was diagnosed. I've probably baked a loaf/week since I got it, and have tried different mixes and even a few "from scratch,"....sandwich bread, banana bread, jalapeno cheese bread, raisin bread, etc. Perfect loaf every time. I think the 2 paddles make a BIG difference for...
  2. Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about. The only "gluten-free" foods that I've found to consistently keep me well, are those that are from dedicated facilities...Kinnikinnick...Enjoy Life....whoever makes those EnviroKidz products, etc. I've researched and those stick to the less than 20 ppm. I agree, 200 ppm is TOO MUCH GLUTEN for me. The proof...
  3. I also had my gall-bladder removed mid-May by lap. No problems at all once I recovered from surgery and a couple of weeks for my system to adjust.
  4. I'd bet there IS gluten in the broth. Before I was diagnosed and before I was at my sickest and seeking medical help, we tried eating at Moe's SW a few times. It didn't matter what I ordered, I always got sick. After 2 or 3 tries, we quit going there. This thread has been a great "AH-HA" for me. There were some restaurants where no matter what I...
  5. I take one every a.m. I'll have to try to remember, but there was a reason my GI and physician wanted me on Aciphex vs prevacid or something less expensive. yes, Aciphex is $$ but it's good stuff.
  6. Wild Oats carries them.
  7. Yep it is!
  8. I was diagnosed in Dec '05. At that time my GI was very firm that I should avoid oats. I do.
  9. 9 mos later and I am beginning to tolerate. Still trying to stay with dairy in only a light way though. Healing not complete.
  10. More info, please!!??
  11. On the Border tortilla chips from Wal-Mart and Kroger....yum!!! No problems.
  12. Many deep and sincere prayers and much love.
  13. I'm not sure about this. Thank you for the input, but you may want to have another look. I don't think that the batter fried foods and the pastas are gluten free. Yet some of them are on the gluten-free menu, just withOUT the gluten-free stamp. It has to be that only the foods marked gluten-free are gluten-free on this menu. Please be careful when you...

    ARCHIVED Smokey Bones

First let me say that I just ate at a Smokey Bones for the very first time. The location was Southaven, MS, just outside of Memphis. I had a GREAT experience!!! The manager was awesome! I asked to speak to him as soon as the hostess seated us. When he arrived at the table, he said that he had some understanding of Celiac, "It's the wheat thing, right...

    ARCHIVED Steak Escape

I didn't expect this question to be a "Stump the Community" question...no experience out there with Steak Escape??? I've written the company from their website. We'll see. I'll share any response I get from them.

    ARCHIVED Steak Escape

Does anyone know anything about possible gluten free menu items at Steak Escape. I've googled but haven't found anything. Thanks!
  17. This sounds like a great topic for a thread.....Jmunchkin, ok if we hop on???? No, I just had the best sandwich ever .... Avocado and Tomato on Jalepeno/Cheese Bread For starters, I made some homemade jalapeno cheese bread. I just followed the recipe for cheese bread on the side of Pamela's Amazing Wheat Free Bread Mix and added the optional jalapenos...
  18. I just read your post Beverly...I am so sorry! You have certainly been through a lot. FloraQ is the probiotic my GI gives me. I take it twice a day (as needed like when on antibiotics, etc.) and always on an empty stomach. It helps me tremendously. Hopefully you'll be good as new soon. Hugs!
  19. I discovered soy and dairy intolerances almost immediately after going gluten-free. Now, 7 mos gluten-free, I am able to add a little dairy back into my diet with no problems. I still largely avoid soy, but will try to add that back at some point too. Do look for patterns that point to other intolerances, and as everyone told me when I first joined this...
  20. Well, there you have it!!! Yes, like you I thought that it was a regular menu, and they just marked what is Gluten Free with the gluten-free tag. You mean, everything on the gluten-free menu is gluten-free???? Really????? Someone suggested that on the back flap the Thunder would have been marked gluten-free. Nope, searched this menu high and low, and...
  21. Ok, now I'm confused. I was at an Outback yesterday. I asked for and received the gluten-free menu. I was all set for the Thunder from Down Under dessert. (I've never ordered it before.) BUT, on my gluten-free menu, NONE of the desserts, including the Thunder was marked gluten-free!!! My menu was dated April '06. So, I didn't dare try it. I went dessert...
  22. I had this experience! I was prepared though; my dr. said he would order gluten-free but not to trust that the hospital kitchen would know. Meals came marked gluten-free, but there was always at least one gluten-filled item on the tray. I didn't eat anything they brought up.
  23. As others have said, nope, no temptation, never looked back. I was one of the "so very sick" folks, so when my dr said, and then I experienced that he was correct, that gluten was the problem, it was a no-brainer. Nope, I'm with the troupe who equates it with rat poison, I was just that sick and now I'm not. I'm not a 100% either, but I've "got to admit...
