  1. I have had luck with chocolate chip, gingersnaps and pumpkin cookies, but I haven't attempted the spritz cookies yet. Anyone have a tried & true? I guess I could just convert my recipe by using gluten-free flour mix and xanthan gum. I am just wondering how the dough handles going through the cookie press. Thanks for any tips.
  2. My MIL gets it and she makes a lot for DS and I. However, I also have a problem with onions and not too long ago she made some wonderful beef vegetable soup for me that had onions in it and I was in so much pain from the onions. As much as I hate to tell her, I have to or I would feel horrible if she makes it (or something else with onions) again and...
  3. The old gluten-free menu used to say to order without Heinz 57 sauce b/c it has malt vinegar in it. Heinz Kethup is gluten-free. I don't think they normally put the 57 sauce on their burgers anymore unless it is requested. Can you tell I eat there all the time?? LOL!! They have a new (or I should say newer) gluten-free menu.
  4. Saying a prayer for Carrie. I hope that she gets some answers and starts feeling better soon.
  5. Yes, they use a dedicated fryer for the fries and they ROCK! I go there to get my fry fix!
  6. I am so sorry. I will pray for Noah and his family.
  7. We usually go to CIP once a week after my DD's ice skating class. I usually have a glass of red wine, but have been asking them to get Red Bridge. Well, they did!! So I was now able to enjoy an ice cold beer with my cheeseburger & fries!! YUM!!!! Not sure if all CIP are going to carry it, but the one we go to is in Columbus, OH on Sancus Blvd...
  8. We live outside of Columbus. There are great places to shop and get wonderful gluten-free food in Columbus. There is Raisin Rack (Westerville), Whole Foods (Dublin), Trader Joe's (Easton or Dublin) and Wild Oat's (close to Grandview). I have heard about the group that was posted but have never been to a meeting. I was just as Raisin Rack yesterday and...
  9. I do rice cakes with PB & J. DS does Van's Waffles, Yoplait Yogurt, Carnation Instant Breakfast, Envirokids Bar, Fruity pebbles or eggs & bacon.
  10. I also let the host know in advance that I will be bringing my own food. I have had my son's friend's parents ask what brand of chips, ice cream, hot dogs to buy for him and that has worked out okay in the past. I also explain a bit about CC. There aren't many people that I would trust to make a gluten-free meal...my DH, Mom, MIL and my Dad with lots...
  11. Christmas Eve we do a lot of appetizers and gluten-free desserts, not so much a "sit down" dinner. We will have the following: Buffalo Chicken Dip with celery & tortilla chips Shrimip Cocktail BBQ Cocktail Weinies (made in Sweet Baby Ray's sauce) Veggie Tray with dill dip Maybe some lunch meat roll ups with cream cheese Cherry Pie Various...
  12. We made these last night (actually MIL did when we were out). She added some milk chocolate & peanut butter chips and they are the moistest, yummiest, heavenly things I have EVER tasted!!! She did not freeze them before cutting, but did let them cool.
  13. It would seem to me that after 6 months she is doing well. 22 down from 108 is great in 6 months. I agree with the above poster that it can take a while to completely normalize.
  14. I also know someone who was diagnosed as a baby/young child whose current dr wants her to go back on gluten to be tested?!?! I am not sure about specifics as far as her diagnosis as a baby, but it seems as if there was the same thought...that you could grow out of Celiac.

    ARCHIVED Ruby Tuesday

I had a good experience at a Ruby Tuesday. I didn't choose to go there, but went with family. I had a plain burger with cheese, steamed broccoli with butter only and a salad. I didn't get glutened and the manager was very helpful. It isn't someplace that I would go to frequently, but they were helpful when I needed to eat there.
  16. I called Wal-Mart a while back and they said their brand of Lactaid was gluten-free. I usually buy the Lactiad Fastact now, though. I think it works better.
  17. I freeze my lasagna all the time and it comes out great. I use Deboles Lasagna Noodles (no bake). I have also frozen Tinkyada with Mac & Cheese and it comes out great.
  18. We do the fries at Cheeseburger in Paradise, Red Robin, Chick-fil-a and McDonalds. I also buy the Alexia Sweet Potato Fries and make them in the oven, the kids love them! I find these at Wal-mart for under $2.50.
  19. Great response! He does sound genuinely concerned. Let us know if you try it again and how it goes.
  20. Sorry that you had a bad experience! I have had good luck at the 2 different locations that I have eaten at in Ohio, but have heard of others not being as good. I hope that you get a response and if you go back that everything is okay.
  21. This is great news!! Thanks for sharing!
  22. Hope you had a wonderful day!!! Happy belated b-day!
  23. IBC Rootbeer is also gluten-free.
  24. I am definitely more sensitive now than I was before going gluten-free. T Marzetti makes an awesome Supreme Caesar dressing that you can find in the produce section. It is one of the best non-homemade dressings I have tasted.
  25. So glad that you guys like them!! I also love to eat them cold. I ate these cookies growing up and was so sad when I thought I couldn't have them anymore. I am glad that they work so well gluten-free. I think you are the one who posted the Chocolate Chip Banana Bread recipe, right? I just have to say that I have made this a few times now and everyone...
