    ARCHIVED Hi I Am New

Welcome! This board is a LIFESAVER, as you will soon find out. Let us know what you need!
  2. Tone's is another brand I forgot to add.
  3. I think my son only had Celiac. He used have an intolerance for dairy, but that seems to have gone away now that he's been gluten-free for a while. Hopefully he won't develop any problems since we caught it. My daughter is a whole different story. We've yet to figure out all of her problems. Hopefully her problems will improve and she won't develop...
  4. My son had 2 negative biopsies and "inconclusive" bloodwork. He was soooo sick, though, so I put him on the diet anyway and the results have been AMAZING. You might want to do the rotation diet. You eat all you want of one type of food (dairy, rice, green beans, etc) in one serving, but don't eat it again for 3 days. Write down what you eat and when and...
  5. I hope they feel better soon. We had the same thing last week and then I realized I had gotten the regular Vann's waffles by mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I felt like such a lousy mom. Good luck in finding it!
  6. I've just started thinking about other foods too. The word "intolerance" is so broad. If someone is lactose intolerant, it gives them an upset stomach to eat it, but does it do any real damage to the body? (I saw Carrie's post on casein, but just using an ex.) I know I have a bad mold allergy and cheddar cheese gives me a headache because of it. I try...
  7. Luzianne (decaf is what I use), Lipton (lists gluten ingredients), and Crystal Light are all gluten-free. I don't think I could give up my tea. I did it one year for Lent , never again!!!!
  8. Cracker Jack's are gluten-free! I keep them around for snacking all the time. Appropriate choice, I would think.
  9. I got this list of companies who always list gluten ingredients (Wheat, Rye, Barley, or Oats) at my last GIG meeting. I thought it was awesome and wanted to pass it on. It's definitely going to help me when shopping. The small known gluten-free companies arent' listed. This is main stream stuff. If you know of others, please add!! Aunt Nelly's Balance...
  10. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Dr. Fasano, who is at the top of celiac disease research works with some folks in Italy. He is at the University of Maryland. You might could look that up and see what is available in Italy. Open Original Shared Link This is one of the best sites I've found and there are links off of it for symptoms. Open Original Shared...
  11. WOW! I never thought of this. I've gotten pregnant twice on the pill, but I never thought of this. I wasn't gluten-free at the time, didn't even know what celiac disease was. Now it makes sense. I thought I was just blessed with not having to plan my pregnancies.
  12. I'm an on the go person too and have had the pain all my life. When I was little I would lay in bed and cry and my Dad felt so helpless. He had me tested for everything. Tylenol did help, but it never went away. Active days were worse, but I learned to live with it. My family is full of chronic pain disorders, so I thought it was normal for me. The diet...
  13. I have a list of foods and other issues that I typed up for people keeping our son. I'd be glad to send it to you. Just PM me. It might help to get you started. I love the Cause You're Special mixes - everything from bread to biscuits to panckes and Cake. Open Original Shared Link EVERYTING I've tried there has been sooooo good. I made cupcakes...
  14. A good example of CC is to tell other's stories: My son ate gluten-free icing out of a containter that had no visible crumbs. Within an hours he was having D so bad he couldn't get to toilet in time and it lasted 3 days. He felt awful and acted awful too. It turned out the icing was used to ice a gluten cake. Even though we couldn't see anything in...
  15. Have you tried grilling portobella mushrooms? Delish eaten like a hamburger.
  16. My son is tiny too, was in the -10th percentile, but he hasn't been measured in about 3 months. I'm 5'2 and my husband is 5'8". We both have grandfathers under 5'6", so genetics aren't on his side. As far as the comment about being little feeling like a birth defect - We have a friend from college who is just barely 5'. He is AMAZING! He is so...
  17. I don't know about Cold Stone, but have any of you had the soft serve IceDream from Chic fil A??? It is soooooooo good and gluten-free. Their fries are too. We haven't had any problem. My husband is a Youth pastor, though, and a lot of the kids work there, so we know who we can trust.
  18. Hormel has a lot of good products that are shelf stable. Check on thier website. I have a microwave meal of thiers that is Southwestern Rice and Beans that is gluten-free. It doesn't have to be microwaved, though. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks good and is vegetarian, I think. PB is always good. Amy's has some good soups too. Black bean and split...
  19. It took about 4 mos. for my joint pain to get better and they hurt sooo bad with accidental glutening.
  20. I';ve heard that Dr. Fasano at Maryland will do this, but we haven't done it. You might could look him up and find out more.
  21. We love these. They're one thing that I cheat and deep fry, though. They're much better that way.
  22. I love the Cause You're Special brand.
  23. We went through CF testing for my son. I think they do it pretty standardly for failure to thrive kids. The sweat test was negative. We had a scare with our daughter a couple weeks ago. They found a pneumatocele in her lung and we were researching like crazy to see if it could be CF. It doesn't look like a possibility, thank goodness. From what we read...
  24. Great. I have a 5 lb bag of Jim Dandy in the Pantry. I'll look for Dixie Lilly. thanks so much for the info. I've been wondering about all of that. What about Martha White? Anyone checked with them?
  25. Welcome! I just wanted to let you know about a friend of mine. As I was reading over the symptoms of Celiac when we started learning my son might have it, I thought of a friend of mine who had had 3 miscarriages and lots of female issues. I called her mom and she told her about it. She decided to just try the diet and see what happened. She had the first...
