Chronic duodenitis and gastritis post diagnose
trents replied to Onemoreceliac's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It might be more practical and less expensive to just trial elimination of oats and dairy for a period of time and see if your symptoms improve. SIBO, however, would likely call for antibiotics in the short term and dietary adjustments in the long run. -

Even though your oats are gluten free, cross contamination with wheat may no be the issue. About 10% of celiacs cannot tolerate the main protein in oats, avenin, which causes them to react in the same way as they do to gluten in wheat. Also, it is very common for celiacs to be dairy intolerant. It can be caused by the sugar in milk (lactose) or a protein... -

Yes, you are correct RMJ. As soon as I posted that I thought to look it up and saw that I was incorrect. I thought I deleted it but I guess I failed in that. -

By the way, CT scans don't use radiation. Neither do MRIs This was incorrect. -

Does eating gluten cause bed wetting?
trents replied to Datsanne's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow, OldWithCeliac, you certainly have been handed a difficult road to travel! You have a lot challenges to cope with and a complex medical history. Kudos for hanging in there! Many would have given up. Thanks for sharing your story. It makes me feel I have it pretty easy. Like you, many of us came to realize that we probably lived with undiagnosed... -

Welcome to the forum, OldWithCeliac! You may find that as your gut heals from going gluten free (which I am assuming is your goal) that you will heal better after surgeries. Of course, the MG may be partly responsible for slow healing as well. Since Celiac Disease damages he villi that line the small bowel, where all of the nutrition is absorbed... -
How would they do that? Must be "chicken of the sea" hens. You're not talking about powdered eggs are you?

T1D, celiac, soy allergy, vegan…who’s with me?
trents replied to Tag's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Dennis, indeed, studies show that eating out is the number 1 threat to eating gluten free. No matter what you order from the menu, you have not control over the care with which it is handled in the kitchen needed to keep it from coming in contact with gluten-containing foods or the remnants of gluten containing food in the cooking and stirring, turning, etc...- 11 replies

I'm not really concerned about its effect on cholesterol. My concern is which one will have the most postive effect for lowering histamine levels, if either.

You must be related to the Apostle Paul when it comes to run on sentences: "Powerful evidince IMO at least in low doses the Niacin regimen seems to be safe and almost all every body remembers is the "Slow Niacin" study which stunts/restricts/controls this unigue Niacin feature (not well understood feature) known as the Niacin flush that is healthy for...

Wondering if there’s anyone else like me

"Just like "friends" taunt recovering alcoholics, your friends will taunt you and test you with gluten." Unfortunately, this can be true. -

Good information and good explanation, Bev. Thanks. -
Welcome to the forum, Kim L. Celiac disease can also cause elevated liver enzymes and, if it goes on long enough, liver disease. That was me and what ultimately led to my celiac disease diagnosis. I had mildly elevated liver enzymes for 13 years which could not be explained. I was tested for hepatitis A-Z and several other potential medical problems...

The multi-pronged approach is always the best. Personally, I find the low histamine diet quite impractical, nearly impossible. It excludes too many nutritious foods. It may be too early to tell but so far, the DAO supplementation combined with increasing my mag and a tad increase in my zyrtec seems to be working. No migraines in about a week and much less...

I am getting about 50mg of niacinamide daily between my multi and my B-complex. I am also taking warfarin and am aware that it there are drug interaction precautions associated with niacin/niacinamide supplementation while taking warfarin so I think I'll stand pat on what I'm doing now. Thanks for the input.

Do I Have Celiac And Best Test
trents replied to WhatsTheDealiac's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
MDR = minimum daily requirement. Those percentages on the vitamin bottle labels are based on this. But minimum should not be understood to mean adequate or optimal. MDR numbers basically are them minimum thought to prevent obvious deficiency diseases such as scurvy and pellagra and beriberi. -
Confused and not sure next steps
trents replied to Lashley9's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No. Unfortunately at this point in time there not another solution. You will have to live with the ambiquity. -
I did increase my magnesium supplementataion, Posterboy. When I trialed a 500 mg Niacinamide supplement it gave me a gut ache a year or so ago. It was manufactured on equipment that also was used for wheat products so the real issue may have been CC. So, you're suggesting the nicotinic acid form, correct? Actually, the changes I have made so far with...

Welcome to the forum, Beck123! Are you certain the rash on the back of your neck is DH? Could it be something else? Have you had the rash biopsied to confirm it is DH? Could something in your regular "safe" food consumption list have had a formulation change so that it is no longer gluten-free?
-
"The gastroenterologist basically said they disregard the EMA and because my ttg was 11 it's highly unlikely I'm coeliac. Had the biopsies today and he said everything looks normal and he thinks the biopsies will be negative." If you ever need a GI doc for something else, I think I would get a different one. This one does not impress me as being competent...

Natalie S, you can turn off the email option in your profile settings. We allow a certain amount of deviation by new members joining a thread but your concern that the thread has gotten off it's original track is understandable. We call that "hijacking" a thread. But please do keep us posted when you have more information about your daughter's issues from...
