  1. We have 2 bunnies up for adoption. A boy (buck) who broke his leg, lilac agouti/ Lynx Holland Lop; and a girl (doe) she is a bit overweight - Chestnut Agouti Holland Lop.
  2. I'm glad you have a diagnoses. Some tips... Carry a snack bag that has many safe options. Kids are offered so many treats at all different places. (even the vets office gave my kids candy when they were little) You are going to have to bend a bit here and include favorite candy. The point is to make sure Celiac doesn't seem like a punishment and...
  3. He used his unique talent to share smiles with the world. (I laughed so hard during Aladin) Rest in peace.
  4. There is a red flag here, the fact that the symptoms started 3 weeks ago with vomit. Cases of EE "flare" at the end of summer and most cases are diagnosed by early fall. Talk it over very earnestly with your ped gastro. As a parent I would never want a child to go through un-needed testing, but there are a few other possibilities that can co-exist with...
  5. Richard, You are experiencing dysphagia. You should see a doctor to find out why, before it becomes life threatening. In some cases, emergency dilation is needed. If you search Eosinophilic Esophagitus, you will have an overview of esophagus damage associated with dysphagia. There is a known link between Celiac and EE. Both are auto-immune disease...
  6. I know it is hard to keep giving your son anything with gluten, but it is necessary for any further testing. It is more common for little ones to vomit with Celiac, but it could indicate other problems. An endoscopy with biopsy will be helpful to diagnose or rule out any other issues along WITH Celiac, and Celiac. Ask any questions you want here...
  7. Gluten free & egg free is tough. Lived through it though, and learned a lot. Go for your old recipes that have only 1 or 2 eggs to replace. Think about why the egg was used in the recipe to determine which way you will replace it. (lighter texture?, hold the other ingredients together?, and how much flavor was this egg adding to the dish?) For...
  8. I'm with you nvsmom! Just seems creepy. I will be cutting open all peaches and eating them sliced from now on. Second guessing my plan to plant that peach tree.....
  9. Now if we could just get doctors and nutritionist to read that article instead of going on a holier than thou tirade.... Enrichment of food/ water is highly debated. vitamin b enrichment to prevent beriberi, iodine fortified salt to prevent goiter, (these 2 seem ok, right) but golden rice to prevent vitamin A deficiency to prevent blindness ~ genetically...
  10. My kids and I will take that ice cream off your hands!
  11. In all honesty, I have been trying to fortify baked goods at home. Swapping out some of the flour blend with almond flour or adding a Tablespoon of chia seeds into baked goods. By adding 1 Tablespoon chia seed = another 60 calories, 2g of protein, 65mg of Calcium, 1 mg of iron, 41mg of Magnesium, and 80mg of Potassium. You just have to watch the "tipping...
  12. Johnny Carino's has a gluten free menu and an awesome chocolate cake! (check your area to see if you have a Johnny Carino's near you)
  13. When my daughter was diagnosed with the vitamin D deficiency, it was lectured by the pediatrician proper diet first ~and vitamin supplements as a last resort. (this case includes including natural sunlight for vitamin D) An 11 year old child with Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitus has to learn proper nutrition even though they have to avoid "trigger...
  14. If I were a gluten free flour company out there, I would try putting out an enriched flour blend. I would see how it sells compared to the products on the market. I feel strongly that there is a need for fortified food for gluten free people. (especially kids!) As much as I don't want any of the products I use changed, I am a parent. Living in the...
  15. I just had 3 days of severe vertigo. I was barely able to walk. Went to urgent care and there was no diagnosable reason. The doctor did note there was some fluid in my right ear, but no infection. Then last night my ears started popping, and the vertigo has gone away.
  16. I talked to the owner about that. Here's the problem, he opened the Guido's franchise first. If he tries to break from Guido's he can't make pizza (or be in locations in the franchise areas) As of right now my kids are planning on going to State, so I hope he stays put. They will have some place to eat during their school years. I will have some place...
  17. You will have to use the vegan shortening. I suggest you check out Cybele Pascal's recipe books. I LOVE, love, love, The Allergen-free Baker's Handbook (how to bake without gluten, wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame) I have not baked the original pie crust recipe, but I have made some of the other pie crust recipes (cornmeal galette...
  18. Sorry about the sandwich not being a top notch delight. I totally love the pizza.
  19. Ice cold water, actual lard, and don't overwork the dough. I would also search for a recipe that uses cream cheese. Good luck!
  20. Stardustine Can you give me a few more details? Look at her tonsils and describe them to me. Smell her breathe and describe. Ask her to tell you where her belly hurts and trace it with her finger. What exactly do you mean by "picky eater". Make sure you know some of the signs of PICA (iron deficiency that causes the desire to eat "non-food" items...
  21. That's a good one! Do mind if we borrow and make t-shirts?
  22. Right on Irish! Who needs to read this ridiculous person's opinions? I'll keep the gluten free products, and do without this written garbage. To the "author", do some constructive with your life ~ quit writing your ignorance. (Unless this was really an attempt at humor, I did laugh at you.)
  23. In our experience, please try and get a doctor to work with you. Don't change the diet and do the endoscopy with biopsy. My daughter was sooo sick when baby cereal was introduced. (blown off by doctors for months and had to request Celiac testing) Trying to have her eat gluten for the testing, she ended up being hospitalized for dehydration right after...
  24. We have never had problems with the rice krispies or Ener-G bread. Try keeping a journal to see if there is an environmental cross contamination or another food sensitivity. If the symptoms persist or get worse get back in touch with the pediatric gastro.
