ARCHIVED This Is Long - But I'm At My Wits End
mommida replied to bleebur's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Unfortunately a lot of disorders can present with these symptoms. Did you get any pictures of the inflammation from the endoscopy? Or tell us what the descriptive terms of the inflammation and where noted. H. Ployri. test result? eosinophil count? -
Some Home Free Mini cookies are free of gluten, corn, soy and peanuts. They do have the CYA statement of made in a facility that also processes soy lecithin. Chebe pizza crust mix Annie's Rice pasta & cheddar mac n cheese *make sure it is the gluten free version as Annie's does make a few varities some of the Namaste mixes will also be safe...

OOPs sorry about the cherrybrook suggestion the powdered sugar has cornstarch in the frosting mix. I remembered it really caters to peanut free. The chocolate and yellow cake mix is gluten, peanut, soy, and corn free. Go Picnics seems to have some of the Enjoy Life products in it, you save more money packing your on snacks together anyway.

Hi! Welcome to the board! My daughter has been diagnosed with Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitis too. We had to find my daughter's "triggers" by doing an elimination diet. Some great companies for allergen free products... Enjoy Life (that's going to give her back chocolate when she has to avoid soy! the chocolate chips and boom bars are fantastic...

ARCHIVED Celiac For 1 Year, Having Trouble Eating Almost Anything For The Last Month
mommida replied to PatRowdy's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I was afraid of getting my gall bladder out too. That all changed with the increasing pain and inability to eat. Definitely go to the doctor and find out what issue is going on, because it will only get worse with out treatment. If you need surgery to remove your gall bladder, you can research your surgeon and feel more comfortable. (Funny thing,...- 11 replies

ARCHIVED Reactions That Hospitalize Treatment
mommida replied to beachbel's topic in Super Sensitive People
My daughter has been hospitalized for dehydration for glutenings. She has Eosinphilic Esophagitis too. Really it is a trip to the urgent care and getting anti nausea drugs quickly. Usually a shot as she can't keep any fluids down. If we miss that window of time she has needed an I.V. for about 3 to 4 days. The recent release of the anti nausea drug... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Else's Young Child Only Had Chronic Stomach Ache?
mommida replied to beebs's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter was diagnosed with "probable" Celiac when she was 15 months old. She was too ill for the endoscopy with biopsy. Her Celiac panel had some positives and the genetic test was positive for DQ2 and DQ8. When she was 6 everything got worse again, same type of Celiac symptoms. She was very good about the gluten free diet, but just getting sicker... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Biopsy Results Were "could Reflect Mild Celiac Sprue"?
mommida replied to mandykeily's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am sorry for your loss. I'm glad you are going for a second opinion. It seems to me you may not have been made aware of the proper steps for an Eosinophilic Esophagitis diagnoses. The steroid atomizer is one part of the process. You should have been referred to an allergist (not always helpful, but if you can identify any "allergens" through testing... -

I really meant to spoon lift, like you described. -
ARCHIVED Chef That Wants Your Feedback
mommida replied to allergiescooked's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
canollis. I really miss those lovely Italian treats. Phyllo dough creations. spinach pie Gyros, like Olga's kitchen. If you offer a dish like Taboleh (a regional dish with some type of added wheat) saying it's gluten free, you better tell me how you replaced the wheat/gluten. What has been done to reduce cross/contamination ~the fact that you... -
ARCHIVED Pillsbury Gluten Free All Purpose Flour! $5.48/2 Lbs!

I hope this product really does well and I have to think we have "fad" dieters to thank for more demand. -
ARCHIVED Another Cookie Baking Question-Cookie Are Dry?
mommida replied to SMRI's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Remember to use "scoop - lift" method with gluten free flour. I really suggest finding a recipe with cream cheese like the first poster suggested. I have gotten some brittle dry almond flour before, but moist of the time it is nice and moist. Do add some xanthan gum with the almond flour. Some things I like to add... almond paste with added liquid... -

I have used a gluten free flour replacer that had gelatin. I did help keep the shape and moisture for cakes. -
ARCHIVED Easy Christmas Cake

How did the Christmas cake turn out? If you can post the recipe you used and your comments for gluten free version. It looks like Christmas cake is different for each nationality. ???? -
ARCHIVED 3.5 Year Old Test Results, New Issues, Food Allergies? Ugh.
mommida replied to omgmegg's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That being said.... We have had parents on here that were searching desperately for answers for sick children. One child was diagnosed with Kawasaki and went on to have open heart surgery. We can only really tell you what is consistent for Celiac and/or other diagnoses for our children. My daughter has been diagnosed for both Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitis... -
ARCHIVED 3.5 Year Old Test Results, New Issues, Food Allergies? Ugh.
mommida replied to omgmegg's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have read articles that have stated up to 30% of Celiacs are IGA deficient. I suggest that you 1 keep a food journal and 2 get to the best pediatric gastroenterologist in Seattle. Invasive tests that are appropriate are Celiac blood panel and stool testing for parasites. Unfortunately for conclusive diagnoses your son will probably have to have... -
ARCHIVED Scared And Unsure If It's Celiac
mommida replied to Spookymom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter did have creamy white spots on her tonsils and the back and side of her tongue before she was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EE). Symptoms often flare for EE during late summer early fall and the majority of symptoms do resemble Celiac. You should start with the non-evasive testing.. such as a stool check for parasites blood test... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Epsom Salts?
mommida replied to AngieJoy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was just looking up information about "the salt cleanse", it seems to be very popular. It definitely has it's warnings, and there is a toxic level of Magnesium Sulfate for humans (which part of the early toxicity level is what flushes the colon as I understand it). Not a doctor, not even playing a doctor on-line today. Every Epsom salt package I have... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Epsom Salts?
mommida replied to AngieJoy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Calm down people. This should be a simple question. Food safe sea salt and Magnesium Sulfate, sea salt is in the spice section (I trust McCormick brand) and Magnesium Sulfate can be found in the vitamin section (not sure of a first choice brand to suggest). I would not look in the bubble bath area for this use of the products. The first rule for... -
If the fatigue continues, you might want to get your vitamin D levels checked too. Low vitamin D levels can turn a person into a walking zombie from exhaustion. (hubs and daughter needed supplementing under a doctor's care ~ adult prescription strength)

ARCHIVED 3 Yr Old - Endoscopy
mommida replied to peppyking's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would take the high positive numbers on the blood work to diagnose Celiac and the endoscopy to get a baseline of how much damage to heal or rule out any other illness. -
ARCHIVED Flourless Chocolate- Chocolate Chip Cookies
mommida replied to Serielda's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Do you think adding a 1/4 of a teaspoon xanthan gum would help the cookie's texture? -
ARCHIVED Go Picnics At Target
mommida replied to africanqueen99's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I loved them for our trip on Mackinac Island. We were out biking the high trails of the island and the box made it easy to eat and then have the garbage contained until we ran across a trash can (state park). It also helped for a hasty retreat when we noticed we had set up too close to a snake for our snack.
