I was going to buy it one day and saw one of the side affects can be the big D! I didn't buy it, like I need any more D in my life.

ARCHIVED Does It Sound Like My 20 Month Old Could Have Celiac?
mommida replied to TJ060306's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
One statistic I have read says constipation occurs for 30% of Celiacs - the big "D" is not the only symptom. I am concerned about your communication with your Ped. gastro. If the ped. gastro. gives you the feeling, "nothing is wrong" how are you going to trust negative results from the endoscopy WITH BIOPSY? I suggest you make sure there will be biopsies... -
ARCHIVED Ian's Chicken Nuggets Are Gross. Any Suggestions?
mommida replied to hadabaday2day's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Alia, I think the Ian's chicken nuggets are the possibly the nastiest gluten free product on the market. Or at least I hope there is nothing worse. The pure junk food way for making truely tastey chicken nuggets - crushed potato chips! I don't have a specific recipe. 1 cut up chicken, 2 take potato chips, some parmesan cheese if you... -
ARCHIVED Hospital Procedures (laparoscopy)
mommida replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You will have gas after the procedure. I suggest having a nurse mate to help massge your shoulders after the procedure. You will probably be offered some type of nourishment after the procedure, so I would bring something to drink and snack on if what the hospital offers is questionable. Good luck and God bless! -
ARCHIVED Excellent gluten-free Pancake Recipe?
mommida replied to midnightlullaby's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Check out Pamela's baking and pancake mix. The price on (a m a z o n . c o m) (think on-line book retailer if it gets flagged and removed) taste great. Left over mix will make great muffins, cookies, and so on. Specialty foods are just going to be pricier but this is definately a great product. Good luck with the fundraising! -
My daughter has just thrown up twice. I'm watching the clock to see if we will need to get to the hospital for dehydration, again. Is there anything that can help at this point? I just gave her some of the Zantac. It seems to be staying down - so far. Should we try and get her to drink more water? Laura

Well the scratch test revealed no allergies. She has an appointment on January 21st for the patch testing. Lisa, If you aren't doing the allergy testing, are you trying elimination diets? Have the Dr.'s reccomended the liquid diet supplements? Mikeand Happy Girl May I ask what age you were diagnosed at and do you feel that EE "flares" up occasionally...

Check out the web site for ITP. It is very informative. I friend of mine developed it suddenly. It is an auto-immune disease. Diet changes are required. -
Head Lice!
mommida replied to dollamasgetceliac?'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Have everyone in the house hold also use a blow dryer on their hair. The heat can render the adult lice sterile at least. -
ARCHIVED You'd Think Im Crazy, But Im Not
mommida replied to mr. moore's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
You can be sensitive to anything. High EMF readings in a location make people feel like they are being watched, haunted, and other eerie feelings. When was the last time you went to the dentist? I've heard many odd stories about needing dental work and people think they are going nuts, with odd sounds in their heads and such. It is likely to have a chemical... -

ARCHIVED Oh My God I Feel So Bad, Stress, Sad, Angry, Etc
mommida replied to dogle's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I hope in time you will see your positive blood test as your liberation papers. You are now in charge of your health. Stay on the gluten free diet. An "official" diagnoses is not neccessary. It could cause health coverage or insurance policy problems. It would have been nice to find this out when you were younger, but your second chance finally came... -
My daughter was diagnosed "probable" Celiac when she was 17 months. She was just diagnosed with EE on the 17th. So we are new to this. She has her appointment with the allergist on Monday the 29th. Is it possible your son has developed a new allergy causing the EE? What did the allergist say the allergens are, because it is possible to be inhaled not...

Almost five years ago, we had an appointment with the dietician. She called and cancelled the appointment. Her advice was by Dana Korn's book Celiac Kids and come to this website. The book is helpful and I've learned everything we needed to know from this site. You can't get better advice on a subject than direct contact with people that live gluten free...

I have a neighbor that begs for gluten free cookies made with Pamela's. You plan on sharing some of those recipes?

ARCHIVED Laughed At When Talking About Food And Asparmate!
mommida replied to mr. moore's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. I tried it and it gives me a severe headache. Interesting enough, the only other person in the room that avoided it as seriously as I was - her husband was a chemist. -
ARCHIVED My Daughter's Symptoms. What Do You Think?
mommida replied to rlbcabjm's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Claudia, Your new gastro is not impressing me. For the Celiac tests to be accurate she would have to be ingesting gluten. The only exception to this rule is the genetic testing. From our experience, she is having possible symptoms of Eosinphilic Esophagitis. It would take an endoscopy with biopsy to diagnose. (It is considered rare, healthy looking... -
ARCHIVED Walk Me Through Making House gluten-free
mommida replied to SGWhiskers's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Put all pets on gluten free food if possible. Double check all personal hygeine products. A lot of shampoos and conditioners have wheat in them and are commonly accidentally ingested. -
One thing you could do is go back and teach the handwashing with the ABC's, Lord's Prayer, and any other 20 second time limit song or recitation reccomended for proper hand washing. Pre-school is germ laden and a gluten mine field. If you are able to supply gluten free repacements for the classroom, ask the teacher to let you.

I have noticed taking Biotin has been helping with the girls. I started taking it for hair and nail growth and noticed a firming up. I've never had much to work with. I've had two kids and I BF. The girls thought it was time to retire down south after that. Now they're at least two or three states up from Florida.

ARCHIVED Daughter Diagnosed And Now Have A Few Questions...
mommida replied to fleckapo's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Question 1 Your daughter's endoscopy showed damage. She has not had proper nutrition during the time she was getting damage. She should start perking up some color as she heals on the gluten free diet. Her iron level could have been a bit low, but when the test is analized they look and see it is a Celiac's iron level and dismiss it - because it is not... -
ARCHIVED Campbells Soup And Swanson Broth Alerts
mommida replied to LDJofDenver's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've gotten sick from three bites of salsa on gluten free chips before. It is a concern. Your body does not really care if it was wheat, rye, or barley, it was just enough for your immune system to recognize and start the attack. Take Prego and the others off the safe list and move on. It appears the Swanson regular Chicken broth is still safe? Just... -
ARCHIVED Help With My 8 Year Old!
mommida replied to Rosie's Mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well we've been gluten free for about five years and my daughter is having some major issues again. She vomitted blood last August (diagnosed as mysenteric something or other as a result of a viral infection) and has been vomitting sporadically since October. She said her whole stomach area hurts. Nothing makes sense as a food intolerance. Since she can... -

ARCHIVED Chocolate Chip Cookies
mommida replied to MollyBeth's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just use the Pamela's mix and the directions on the bag. I do not flatten them down at all, just drop the spoonful on the tray and bake. People rave about them! Gluten eaters beg me to make them some.
