  1. Augmentin makes me vomit. I have heard it is very hard for many to digest.
  2. Pernicious anemia is an auto-immune disease with conections to Celiac. The gut lacks the intinsic factor, leads to iron defiency, and the lack of B12. Recent studies have shown sublingual B12 supplements are as effective as B12 injections/shots.
  3. I have been using Biotin vitamin supplement (part of the vitamin B complex) and it has been helping with hair and finger nail growth. Since auto-immune thyroid diseases go hand in hand with Celiac, you may need additional tests for you thyroid. Thyroid function/uptake and an ultrasound of the thyroid along with the blood tests mentioned above. The test...
  4. If I remember right Rachel_24 started out with SIBO diagnoses. Her story has really developed since that time though. Go jump in on "when a gluten free diet is not enough" "silly yaks" "OMG I might be on to something" threads. You're just going to have to jump in, because the last estimate on how long would it take to catch up read is beyond next Christmas...
  5. When we lived at our last house city water and swimming pool. We were having a hard time holding the chlorine level in the pool. We noticed that the tap water smelled of chlorine and tested it ~ the level was higher than the swimming pool we dumped about $300 worth of chlorine into! We had to add another chemical to the pool water to keep the chlorine...
  6. I've had my kids' behavior change after accidentally ingesting gluten too. Another thing to consider vitamin B defiency. Look at the symptoms for this defiency.
  7. Mine went away when I went gluten free. My daughter and I get them back when we have had a an accidental glutening.
  8. I think celiac3270 (great kid who hasn't been here in a while) grew leaps and bounds. If I remember right he was 13/14 and grew close to 4 inches in one year. He also had some major stomach surgery during that time. It is possible but with teenagers it is a personal journal, unique to the individual.
  9. I've been eating them for breakfst lunch and dinner! LOL I am going to do the rice chex crispies as soon as I get over my little addiction.
  10. I would contact the nearest Celiac support group. I know during hurricane Katrina the support groups sent specialty foods. I can't remember for sure Celiac Support A (CSA) and Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG). Can you contact local health food stores? (They might have some products nearing the experation date they would have to unload at a discount or...

    ARCHIVED Jabs

In the US you can go to www.cdc.gov and view the vaccine package insert on-line. I think you need to open a pdf file for viewing. I would pay particular attention to the ingredients, contraindications, efficiacy, adverse effects.
  12. I've used it before. I use it in small amounts, like if the recipe called for zantham gum or guar gum it would be a small amount in ratio to the entire amount of dough/batter. It does help hold things together. I may have had better luck if there were clear directions on the bag. It was OK but I started using pre-made gluten free flour (gluten free...
  13. Pediatricians won't do much until your child drops down off the charts. Then they will diagnose "failure to thrive". Moms you have to trust your mom instincts on this, really because even the testing for celiac isn't that reliable for you children's age. For the record, my daughter stopped gaining weight at 7 months too. Considering she still grew...
  14. I usually go. I think they charged less at the door last year. Celiac specialties has the best donuts! This could be just what you need right now. Gluten free food that tastes good and a huge crowd of other gluten free people. Wow it's this Saturday, April 12th 10:00 to 2:00.
  15. What brand of syrup can we switch to?

ARCHIVED I Do Not Know What To Do

Not producing urine is very serious. YOU NEED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE.
  17. Has the color of your tongue changed? Two symptoms of pernicious anemia (link to Celiac disease) change of taste and a dark red colored tongue You should probably get a medical examination.
  18. How could you even think we could forget you!!? Glad to know you are doing GREAT! ((HUGS)) to you!
  19. My experience with Prometheus Labs (in California - and does a lot of Celiac genetic tests ) My genetic test came back negative, my biological daughter's positive for both DQ2 and DQ8 after questioning the results ( because basically it is questionable not matching mother to daughter )\ Prometheus response... genes mutate...
  20. That is good to know. Now when people ask what can I eat in Mi. for this venue, I know it won't be a problem.
  21. Count me in. Laura
  22. We've tried the frozen dough Chebe bread, and we like it! It took about four months for our tastes to change over to accept the gluten free diet. I'm guessing that mac n cheese will be in your gluten free future, our favorite is by glutino. Welcome to the site!
  23. Just remember this board is for Celiac, DH, gluten intolerant or anyone needing information. We do not tell anyone to stay out of different topic areas (I don't think it is a good idea to chat with the teens though.) You don't have to agree with every one or any one post. If parents are banding together to "fix" the broken public education thes are areas...
  24. I was trying to set the subscription up, but I was having problems with that. Even without the added 15% savings, the gluten free items I ordered were a better deal than going to the health food store. An added benefit I found was goodsearch .com / goodshop .com . You can donate a % of your sale to benefit a registered charity.
  25. My response from the company... 10% of the products are going to be manufactured in Mexico. I don't feel comfortable with the changes. I would like to know which products are being manufactered in Mexico, and what the companies statement on gluten free status for those products are. Laura
