  1. I am not familiar with these ones but I would guess at the dairy. I can't tolerate things "nacho" - chip flavors tend to have concentrated milk ingredients. That would make me phlegmy and my sinuses would flare up, probably give me a good headache.
  2. It gets better - we have a lot of food around my workplace - people bring it in, patrons bring it in, and our supervisors bring it in for 'a job well done'. With Christmas coming, it'll just get worse. I've been working there for over 4 years - it doesn't bother me anymore. Everyone knows I can't eat stuff and I keep food in the freezer or fridge so I do...
  3. Another option is to buy silicone liners - I have flat ones to line cookies sheets, you can also buy muffin cups. They are relatively cheap. I only recently bought my own cookies sheets (it's been almost 10 years).
  4. I've eaten (successfully) the pizza at Boston Pizza - yum ! And to have a choice of toppings, yum ! I could not however eat gluten free cake someone had made at home brought in. A friend of my daughters made gluten-free cookies and I stopped at a couple of bites with mild stomach cramps... I blame the cookie sheets ! It would be the same for cake - the...
  5. IMHO, nurses can be the worst - their solution for many things is to just throw a drug at it. My SIL & a friend are nurses and they self medicate a lot. Anyway, sounds like you have to get your credibility back. Don't go eat out where you can't eat safely. Every time you eat unsafe food, they are going to sit there and say, see ! It's all in her head...
  6. I bought myself a cute little lunch kit with a long strap - it has to levels and I can put a small ice pack in it to keep things cool. That thing travels with me everywhere - hockey games out of town, shopping in the next city, long trips (I have a small cooler too). When I go to people's place for events or supper, I bring my own food. Yeah, it sorta sucks...
  7. Thanks for the heads up. I think I would have done the same in your place (minus the tip) - when you don't expect things like this, one tends to just go with. BUT, now that I know this kind of thing is out there, I am prepared to fight it. I would not pay for a salad I didn't have, a mistake the restaurant made. I never thought a restaurant would do this...
  8. Ok, maybe you can define jumpy eyes... I'm thinking if it's sorta wonky eyesight, I'm in. Some days my eyes seem to cross...not really of course but I'm not sure if my astigmatism becomes an issue or what. Other days, things are fine. It seems worse when I'm tired or if I have grumpy sinuses. It sorta like my eyes won't work together ???
  9. I agree - never assume. I was in a Moxie's once and the server told me the nachos weren't safe - that they were fried in gluten containing oil. I make my own at home now. Man, did it ever suck sitting there hungry watching/smelling other folks eat nachos.
  10. Roda...you didn't mention symptoms of RA...do you have any ? Curious....I've had symptoms since December & am still seeking a diagnosis - RF negative back then. I go in Friday for results after a big round of more blood tests, but honestly at this point it pretty much has to be RA. Maybe I'm just one of those with weird blood work (kinda like my celiac...
  11. I use Classico sauces (the red ones) all the time - I *might* have had issues with the olive one a while back, never tried it again. We use the mushroom one a lot. This is always so difficult ! When one gets 'zinged' by something, it seems like everything causes a reaction - it takes a lot of sleuthing to figure things out !
  12. Definitely check it out - call, look on the net, whatever. I got glutenend by Hunt's spaghetti sauce a while a go. They have several canned varieties and I didn't see any gulten ingredients. However, after feeling sick I went on the net and found out that some of the 'flavors' are not gluten free...No, it didn't really make sense by the ingredient list but...
  13. Red licorice.
  14. I live in a family of 5, I'm the only gluten-free one. The top shelf of the pantry, the fridge, and the freezer are "mine" - gluten-free stuff only. Any muffins, cookies or whatever in smaller ziplocs are mine in there - the gluteny stuff is always in big freezer bags. I label my stuff "gluten-free" anyway. All the counters are mine (gluten-free) - I...
  15. Open Original Shared Link That's the recipe...& it looks good...but I was under the impression the Hershey's was a hit & miss product !?!!? How about Ghirardelli chocolate ? Saw a recipe using this but wasn't sure.....?
  16. I really think that if DH & I just went on a cruise, I would still go with Disney. Of course, the gluten-free options would be a big deciding factor, but from what others said the shows & service were better than other cruises. And yes, we did run in to folks who were cruising for their 8th or 9th time and were not cruising with kids. There are shows...
  17. I tried this pizza a couple of weeks ago - I too am sure it is a Kinnikinnick crust, which I don't buy at home. However, having said that, Woohoo ! I got to eat out safely, eat pizza in a pizza place, with friends & didn't get sick. Nice. I don't eat out much but I would definitely order it again - it was also nice to have a nice selections of toppings...
  18. Imagine going to eat a 4 course meal for supper every night and know you won't get glutened. A fancy 4 course meal. Wow....! Same goes for any food eaten in the main dining rooms (there are 3). I was also able to eat lunch and dinner in the dining room - with servers and head hosts who double checked my food to make sure I didn't get glutened. OMG....from...
  19. Costco has a nice spicy Chorizo - Freybe's I think - pretty greasy but nice zippy flavor !!
  20. I am so happy to hear this ! We are going on the Disney Wonder on Tuesday - I had heard Disney was really good for gluten-free diets, nice to hear it confirmed !
  21. I have packed... -energy bars -small tuna cans -crackers -fruit -small chip bags -trail mix -muffins Seattle airport has a Wendy's (mmmm....chili). John Wayne in California has a See's candy shop - they had a sign in the window saying gluten free products available - I picked up cookies, crackers, chips....that was all I could find in that airport...
  22. I gave up dairy altogether, with the exception of half & half in my coffee. Once in awhile I would have some hard cheese - sometimes I would react, sometimes I wouldn't. It probably depends on my gluten exposure (intestinal health - I have gluten eaters in my house) and how full my stomach is. I can't drink a glass of milk, period, I would definitely...
  23. Definitely been "hit" by Trader Joe's products...heard so much about them but got sick, then realized the shared equipment thing - & learned the phrase "made without gluten ingredients"....really ! Too bad...was excited by some of their stuff.
  24. Not sure it matters - the pan she was cooking on, possibly the spatula, would all have been contaminated anyway. Unless they have a sign up saying the testing food is gluten free as prepared, I wouldn't touch it...maybe not even then.
  25. I really like Holy Crap and others like it (I bought one called Chia Goodness that is very similar). However - I don't eat it as a cereal. 2 tbsp ? Not much, soak it in milk or whatever, boring! What I do with it is put it in my baked goods (muffins, cookies) or my cooked rice cereal (Bob's Redmill really tasty rice cereal or whatever it's called). It...
