  1. Anything made by Kraft will clearly have gluten listed in the ingredients if it's there. richard
  2. All wines that I know of are gluten-free. This is not something you need to worry about. richard
  3. Prilosec OTC worked better for me. richard
  4. My children, siblings and father all got tested. My 70-year-old father was positive despite the absence of symptoms. No diarrhea at all. richard
  5. Medications are one of the very least likely products to be contaminated. Pfizer is merely telling you what their attorneys told them to say. Contamination isn't impossible, but it's more likely it's from another product or even a psychological reaction to Pfizer's disclaimer. richard
  6. Walmart used to carry it. Not sure if they still do. richard

    ARCHIVED Whoops!

Sorry you don't feel well, but grain-based distilled items are gluten-free unless there's gluten added after they're distilled. I haven't yet found a vodka, even those made with wheat, that isn't gluten-free (not that I've researched every vodka made). richard
  8. What ICBINB is saying is that they don't give out a list because as soon as they do it could be old (this is true of ANY list) and that if a product has gluten (or at least wheat) it will be shown in the ingredients. ICBINB is a Unilever product and this is Unilever's policy for all it's products. ICBINB is in fact gluten-free. I've never found a butter...
  9. Crest is adding the common CYA statement here and while it's frustrating to hear, it's also accurate. Crest and virtually every other manufacturer out there truly do not know if their products have a trace of gluten. Stark reality is that unless a company controls every single step of every single ingredient, there's absolutely no way they can truthfully...
  10. "Information about the changing gluten content of medicine and food products would normally be found in frequently updated media like annual directories, newsletters, web sites and the like. A book would not be an expected place to give information of this kind in my observation, and my understanding of the practicalities. A book might at a pinch mention...
  11. Last I checked, everything at Chipotle was gluten-free except the flour tortillas and, I believe, the hottest salsa. I know the chicken is gluten-free. richard
  12. I don't think you'll find that either one of these dyes ever has gluten. I've never found an artificial color with gluten. Many ingredients that you are told to be careful about are actually always or nearly always gluten-free. richard
  13. The MFS in this case could be corn, tapioca, potato or a number of other thyings that aren't one of the top 8 allergens or have gluten. The reason they aren't more specific is that the source of the MFS could change and then they'd have to change the label all the time. But they are saying they'll change the label if the MFS suddenly has gluten. BTW, MFS...
  14. The new law does not go into effect until January 2006 so for now they can tell you whatever they want. And when the law takes effect, barley, rye and oats do not have to be plainly listed. Some companies do list them, but it won't be required. However, distilled vinegar is always safe no matter what the source, so it really doesn't matter in this case...
  15. No experience but I'd be surprised if you could take dapsone while pregnant. How long have you been gluten-free? After a certain period of being strictly gluten-free (depends on the person), you should be able to taper off dapsone. richard
  16. Let me add that I didn't eat at McD even before celiac. Can't stand their food. richard
  17. Unless your McDonald's is one of those tiny ones in Walmart or somewhere similar they are violating basic McDonald's rules by cooking everything in one fryer. I'd complain to McDonald's headquarters. richard
  18. There's no doubt at all that DH is aggravated by hotter weather. richard
  19. Kingsford and every other briquette I know of has wheat starch. Have your family buy natural or "lump" charcoal, which is nothing but charred wood. No chemicals or additives. richard
  20. Wish it had worked for me. I was still smoking when I developed celiac disease. And it wasa because of the celiac disease that I quit. I was so ill from the celiac disease I was either in the hopsital or too weak to smoke for three weeks. Haven't had one in close to four years now. richard
  21. Olive Garden is on of those places where all food is supposed to be prepared the same way everywhere. People want it to taste the same everywhere they go. The three entrees named in the post are the three that the Olive Garden central administration office has said are gluten-free at ALL Olive Gardens. Salads Garden Salad - Order without croutons Caesar...
  22. Standard advice now is to just allow gluten whenever you normally would (6 to 8 months, I think). In fact, some evidence indicates that withholding gluten could help trigger celiac if the child has the genes. Personally, I don't see the sense in forcing a child to be gluten-free unless necessary. richard
  23. It should be fine wrapped in foil. richard
  24. Most Wendy's do have separate fryers for the fries. You just have to ask. Making chili without using a mix with gluten is very easy to do. Wendy's chili is indeed gluten-free. richard
  25. Iodone can trigger attacks but I thought that stopped after you had been gluten-free for a while. You can try cutting out iodine. richard
