  1. For years Stoneyfield told us to eat just their plain yogurt. Finally, they told us that's because they might use a tiny amount of distilled alcohol made from grain (which probably isn't even wheat) to extract some flavorings. They realize that most experts agree distilled alcohol is gluten-free no matter what the source, but they were being ultra careful...
  2. DebMidge, Unless you get one of the fresh turkeys, ALL of Butterball's turkeys are "self basting." in fact, unless you get the fresh turkey from any brand the turkey you get will be self basting. The self basting part is simply the broth or flavorings that have been added to make the meat more moist. Once again, because of USDA rules you don't have...

    ARCHIVED Fevers?

Fever is unusual but it was one of my symptoms. I ran fevers up to 105 when I first got really sick. I ran fevers over 100 daily for 10 weeks. The doctors though it was lymphoma. If you've been casual about the diet, it's time to get serious because you're getting sicker. If you have been strict about the diet, it's probably something else and you need...
  4. DebMidge, As I've said before, Butterball turkeys are NOT "injected" with gluten. Butterball turkeys are gluten-free, as confirmed by the company just a few days ago. Note the words in parens. If you still doubt it go read the label yourself. "The breast meat of Butterball Frozen Turkeys, including Butterball Frozen Stuffed Turkey, is moistness enhanced...
  5. "I don't belive that to be true, Glix. . .are you sure?" Every ice cream I've ever checked has been gluten-free UNLESS it has obvious stuff like cookies, cookie dough, cake, pie, etc. I've also seen one or two fudge type things that have been dicey. Otherwise, ice cream appears to be gluten-free. If anybody can show otherwise, please let us know. For...

    ARCHIVED Coffee

If you can't handle coffee it's something other than gluten. In three years, the only coffee I've EVER found not gluten-free are a couple of ones at Starbucks where they actually add brownies or something as they mix it. Plain unflavored coffee is absolutely unquestionably gluten-free. richard

    ARCHIVED Itchy Ears

If you break out with these blisters and dapsone takes care oif them, you have DH. And if you have DH, you also without question have celiac. According to celiac experts, you don't even need the celiac tests. You need to go gluten-free full time. richard
  8. Can you get your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist? That's who would know about DH. I wouldn't expect a family physician to know. If you've been gluten-free for two years and you are careful, DH would not just suddenly pop up. richard
  9. All kinds of stuff here, and it looks like you can buy just one of anything: Open Original Shared Link
  10. Butterball turkey IS gluten-free. It is NOT injected with a gluten copntaining substance. I just got an e -mail from Butterball confirming this. Butterball turkey is gluten-free (and so is every other raw turkey I've ever checked or ever seen checked by somebody else). richard
  11. Sharffen Berger chocolate is gluten-free and CF. Expensive, though. For those of you who have just gone gluten-free and are having problems with dairy -- some people find they can tolerate it after their villi have healed. Not everybody, of course, but some. richard

    ARCHIVED Espn Zone

As I said in my post I plan to find a number and call but wanted to see if anybody knew anything. I'm not getting answers from any of the lists I posted on so I guess this is not place people with celiac disease go to much. richard
  13. With turkeys you don't have to do anything other than read the ingredients. USDA rules REQUIRE you list anything that adds nutrition to raw meat, and that includes wheat, rye and barley. I've never found a raw turkey with gluten. Ham's a little tougher but I've never found one that isn't gluten-free, as long as it's not commercially glazed or a honey ham...

    ARCHIVED Espn Zone

Does anybody have any info about eating gluten-free at ESPN Zone? I've sent then e-mail but haven't heard back. I'm sure I can find a phone number for the one we'll be going to (Atlanta) but I thought I'd check with the forums first. This is where my daughter's cross country team will be eating so if I want to be with her, I have no choice. I can always eat...
  15. Go to this web site Open Original Shared Link and then scroll down for some helpful files. richard
  16. Campbell says some Swansons are OK. If you have a Kroger somebody just posted that Kroger broths are gluten-free. I did not check this myself. richard
  17. Liz, you are in denial. The blood tests simply do not give false positives. If the blood tests were positive and you have any symptoms (diarrhea), then you're talking nearly a 100 percent chance you have it. Some people are diagnosed with no symptoms at all. I had almost no symptoms, not even diarrhea, or so I thought. I never realized that the mouth...
  18. I wouldn't give up on it. My first meal out after going gluten-free was also an office Christmas dinner (much bigger office, though). I called the catering company and got the chef. Although the menu was set, he altereda copule of things for me. The same thing happened when we attended an academic dinner for our daughter and, most recently, a group dinner...
  19. Refractory sprue is exceedingly rare. More than likely you are just still paying for cheating. Many people get more and more sensitive and suffer harsher and harsher reactions. richard
  20. To me, some of what's happening to you sounds like you're also allergic. Tingling, immediate reaction. richard
  21. My Dh was probably mild. I took just 25 mg of dapsone and I didn't take it every day. When it was cool, I took it maybe only once a week. When hot, once every other day or every third day. My Dh was always the same -- intensely itchy blisters with clear fluid. Usually on the elbows, knees, and upper buttocks. Sometimes other places but these were most...
  22. CW is a Kraft product. Kraft clearly lists any gluten in the ingredients. richard
  23. According to Dr. Cynthia Rudert, fatigue is the MOST COMMON symptom. Not diarrhea -- fatigue. It was my first one. cheers richard, roanoke, va.
  24. I wish this were true but it ain't. Apparently they're still in the stage of trying to get shops to accept and distribute it. You might be able to help by sending distributers their way, but it appears we're still waitng. cheers richard, roanoke, va.
  25. 5-6 days won't hurt the results. richard
