  1. The brand I have in my fridge is Lissannetti - SoySations. It doesn't melt as well as real mozz. but it does melt. I certainly miss the stringiness of the regular, but it does taste very good!
  2. I buy Kinnikinnick frozen pizza crusts and make my own using organic tomato sauce and soy mozzarella. Yum!
  3. While I hate wasting the noodles, it's much more cost effective to just buy the boxed mac and cheese - and do something else with the noodles. The can only provides enough cheese for what 2 boxes would make, and it costs about 3 x as much.
  4. We have used NFP, quite successfully, until DH recently had "the big V" after the birth of our 3rd child. Our children are spaced very nicely.... 3 yr 1 mo between the first two, and 4 year 1 mo between the 2nd two. TCOYF is a wonderful book!!
  5. Nope. Not pregnant. My cycles are wonky though. =( I assumed that the numbers dropping was an indication that the gluten-free diet is helping me. Am I interpreting that incorrectly??
  6. I buy the frozen crusts from Kinnikinnick - we love them!
  7. Our insurance company will cover those specific tests, provided ONLY that they are done in one of their providers. So, for us... Enterolab would cost us exactly what they are charging. But, if there were an "in network" lab that would run those specific tests, they'd be covered.
  8. They did run ALL the tests, but the only 2 I have the 2nd set of results for is the 2nd set of tests. I should have been more specific - the above are gliadin AB's. I'm not IgA deficient - I was well within normal ranges on the first set of tests. =)
  9. I am not totally sure why I had the test run twice. I think because it was ordered by a PA - and perhaps my actual doctor didn't get the results, or whatever. But, I had the Celiac panel run two times, 21 days apart. My results were very interesting. The only numbers I have, from the 2nd panel, are the IgA and IgG. But, after going gluten-free, those numbers...
  10. IgE is allergy related. It's pretty odd, because my daughter had a RAST panel done for food allergies, and everything came back negative, but her IgE was off the charts. It should have been (for the specific lab we went through) under 20 and it was in the 170-something range. Upon further testing, they determined she's allergic to milk and wheat, in addition...
  11. Tavi, Why can't you go??
  12. We are having a horrible time with our dd. She just turned 5 and has been pee trained for quite some time. However, bowel issues have been a persistant problem. We figured that once we got her on a gluten-free diet, things would improve. But, they don't seem to be improving. So, now we are removing dairy from her diet as well. Has anyone been through...
  13. Personally, I don't eat BK fries - nor will I let my daughter. They are cooked with the onion rings, and then they are all dumped in the same bin for draining. She has had McD's with no incident. Our local CSA Support Group has given their "approval" for McD's, but no other FF restaurant, that I'm aware of.
  14. My daughter has one, as she's allergic to peanuts. She's 5 and has been wearing one since she was 17 months old. I might have to order her another one. Her's says, "Peanut Allergy, Call Immediately" - but I'm thinking of changing it to "multiple food allergy, severe peanut allergy." Personally, I think it's a good idea. Even if you don't have an actual...
  15. Sounds yummy! What type of pasta did you use? We've been eating a lot of "corn pasta" here, as well as Tinkyada Rice pasta, but I've not tried to make anything creative with any of it.
  16. I'm not sure how I managed to get to this post, but I wanted to say... I LOVE that orange stuff!!! At least, the 1 hour glucola isn't bad. The three hour (which I've had to do in 2 of my 3 pregnancies) is just nasty!!! I wish you lots of luck !!!
  17. Thank you for all the replies. Nic - the problem is that each and every single class there will be a different parent, and a different snack. I can probably get a list of what parent has what day, but I'm sure I'll encounter parents who will say, "Well, we don't know what we are taking for a snack yet" and that will certainly cause issues. When I mentioned...
  18. I have my first set of test results in my hand. I had a "Celiac Panel" done. That included: Total IgA tTg IgA Gliadin AB IgG Gliadin AB IgA tTg IgG EMA
  19. My daughter is 5 and due to start Kindergarten. She's TEENY tiny, barely (and FINALLY) in the 8th percentile. However, since her dx and the start of a gluten-free diet, she's starting to grow!!! And, we are finding other allergies/intolerances along the way. We chatted with her pediatrician, and together with him - my husband and I decided to hold her...
  20. TOo funny! I just got a mental pic of "Bill Cosby - Himself" where he's got the microphone in his hand and he's singing, "Dad is great........ he gives us the chocolate cake........." Yea, giving your kids chocolate for breakfast doesn't come close to qualifying you for a bad mum award. I'm sorry you are feeling so miserable. And, I think you have...
  21. I am still very new to the Celiac/Gluten free world. So, I'm really getting a wealth of information from this thread alone! Thanks for starting it!!!
  22. Wow, was that really necessary? I'm trying to read these posts, and do it with an open mind - but that really was uncalled for. I am sorry that you had such a terrible religious upbringing. Not all of us did. My faith is a beautiful thing to me, and I don't criticize or condemn anyone else's beliefs. It makes me feel very sad when others can't be respectful...
  23. I am also Irish & German - and a little French, Swedish, and English. Fascinating. My father is an English/Nordic mix, my mother is the German, Irish, Frenchwoman.
  24. I am almost in tears reading this thread. My daughter can't have dairy, so we switched to soy. She got massive D and upset stomach from the soy. So, last night I went and purchased her some Rice Dream. I was all excited because she had a glass of it this morning, and LOVED it. WHY oh WHY didn't I read the lable??? Like a dummy, I assumed that...
  25. I won't let my daughter eat BK fries. They cook their onion rings in the same friers. And, everything is put in that one bin. No thanks... no way.
