  1. Unlikely that your mistakes can have quite the same impact on people's lives. I sometimes get the feeling that some of them are afraid to make mistakes. They state the most obvious diagnosis and if you don't fit with it, well then, there's something wrong with your assessment of your health, not theirs. I like doctors that question, or say, well, I...
  2. Well, there is that. I'm not a very social person so that part of it didn't occur to me at all Crawling back into my cave now
  3. If you eat it, you'll feel bad. If you're okay with the feeling bad part, well, not much I can say. My recommendation would be, once girl scout season is over, train yourselves to only buy gluten-free treats. I know they're pricier, but you could justify that by telling yourselves that they tend to have higher quality ingredients. You notice the deliberate...
  4. You can make a strata. Basically layers of bread cubes, meat (ham is good), veggies (tomatoes, or maybe artichoke hearts). Mix some eggs and milk and spices together and pour over the rest. Leave in frig overnight and bake next day. Here's one recipe: Open Original Shared Link
  5. I thought about it, and the money does go to support education, but I was kind of mad that I have to pay $6 for a bag of flour AND they think I should be paying for their educational expenses. And it took them over a month to answer an email I sent asking for details on this.
  6. Craigslist Do you have that there?
  7. Very Fun Dreamer Escape Artist Back to Basics Love bug (how embarrassing, don't tell anyone)
  8. I switched to sea salt (it has to be gray, or some off color or it's too refined) I really like it. It has about 1/4 of the amount of sodium and the flavor is more complex. I don't know how it would affect your swelling though.

    ARCHIVED Sle

There's a boat-load of blood tests that they do. And there are different types of SLE. Before you start stressing about it, get him tested.
  10. Ya know, I've been enjoying this feeling of superiority lately watching commercials like the ones where you get your pizza crust stuffed full of extra cheese and you then dip it in ranch dressing or something. I suppose I always knew it, but now that I can watch these commercials with a detached sort of interest it's very clear to me that Carla's statement...
  11. Maybe it's the type of margarine?
  12. RiceGuy, are you still having absorption problems? Haven't you been gluten-free for over a year?
  13. I meant "normal" people. The kind that live such a fast paced life that they habitually drink their meals for speed's sake.
  14. I don't know that it would help with Celiac, but if you're suspecting other issues... I was with someone that had one. He had to drink some nasty chalky stuff and then roll back and forth on a table while they took xrays. Took maybe 1/2 hour
  15. My first thought was YUCK!, but then I thought it would be a little like drinking a V-8. Made me think of all kinds of adults that eat baby-food consistency stuff. Funny picture
  16. Much better! If you can make a little girl scream like that I'm really scared of you!
  17. Wow, sounds like a rough afternoon. When you have gotten over the worst of the experience, you might consider that you accidentally pushed all her 'mom guilt' buttons. Here she is THE MOM, and she knows less about taking care of her daughter then you do. It's also possible that she shouldn't be eating gluten either and that's why her mood is unpredictable...
  18. How could ANYONE think you aren't tough with that vicious looking wolf in your avatar!
  19. You are welcome to share anything I post. I think if you were any tougher you'd be a linebacker. What you aren't is pushy. And I kinda like that combination . Don't change.
  20. Patti, the moderators on this board are very gentle and I'm not sure a warning from one of them would be perceived as anything to be paid attention to. Maybe you could come up with a standardized sort of phrase: "The moderators have been asked to monitor this post for abusive behavior. Please stop XXXX, return to the original topic, refrain from mentioning...
  21. food process together equal parts dates and walnuts and form them into balls. I also do this with other dried fruits and raw nuts, but it's a little trickier to get the texture to hold together. You can throw in shredded coconut and chocolate chips as well. edamame? He might like playing with the little pea bits. mashed potato swirls. Swirl chunky...
  22. Bumping this a bit, in case others didn't get the chance to read the responses to the article.
  23. So he doesn't want to do a simple blood draw test but he's willing to make you take a mood altering drug? Have you considered switching doctors? I just want to remind you that you don't need a doctor's diagnosis to not eat gluten.

A while back someone posted about drywall being made with wheat. Did the contractors install drywall? If so you might have a layer of gluten dust over everything in your house...
