  1. That does kinds suck, but isn't it the company you are missing? Not the food? Eat before you go and order something that couldn't possibly be cc'd (like fruit, or just drinks) and have fun with your friends. After you get better at dealing with the diet you can start dealing with restaurants during lunch or mid afternoon when they aren't so busy and figure...
  2. I'm sorry you're feeling left out. At my work usually they ask, or they 'we're going out for Sushi, we assumed you wouldn't want to come'. And I'm fine with that. Sometimes I say 'let's go here', or 'I can't eat at that restaurant, how about this one?' And sometimes I email other friends and go out to lunch with people that care about me. If it looks...
  3. Forum chaos!
  4. Hey cool! Me too! Except I've seen two rheumatologists and one neuro. gluten-free helped the muscle pain and headaches. The numbness is going away. I've started taking lots of calcium and vitamin D to deal with muscle cramps (too early to know if it's helping). And I'm still working on the period thing. It's know it's really frustrating. Hang in...
  5. Yeah! And I always look for arguments I also recall that the original poster also said he was raw/vegan so it seems VERY unlikely that he was consuming any gluten anyway.
  6. Sooo, on the practical, mercenary side..... Since you are clearly trying to provide the most safe environment you can, maybe you could take the time to learn a bit about other allergies and market yourself as an "allergy aware daycare". It would definitely involve charging more, but might also require you to spring for the gluten free art materials and...
  7. Hmm, are you maybe still getting bloated when you eat? Or do you eat a lot at one time? Try to figure out if it's mechanical (your stomach gets big and interferes with your lung space) or a reaction.
  8. Sweetie, you're not unwanted. And I have a low tolerance for boring and I can honestly tell you, you are not boring. Everything you have to say has a new experience, a different angle, a new approach. The only reason she is tired of you is because you're no longer talking about her.
  9. WOOOHOOO!!!! Good for you!
  10. www.whfoods.com you can go to the recipe section and tell them to show recipes without any ingredient(s) you want.
  11. The quick answer is just about all of them . Skip the creams in case they have malt, but most hard liquors are gluten-free.
  12. Kathy, the tests aren't at all reliable. To know for sure what bothers you, eliminate the foods from your diet one by one. Start with the highest scoring foods (tuna) and don't eat any tuna for 2 weeks. Do eat everything else. Keep careful notes. If you notice absolutely no difference, start eating tuna again and remove cane sugar. If you aren't sure...
  13. Actually I'd love to see you arguing. I'm guessing you at your worst is comparable to me at my nicest!
  14. You aren't going to put her back on gluten, are you?
  15. Uhh, I have a far less diplomatic response translation: I really don't care that you're worried about your health, worried about pain, worried about school, worried about a medical procedure, everything is about ME and I expect you to understand that. I'm sure she's basically a nice person, but she's selfish. If you are OK accepting her on those...
  16. You could consider having the blood tests redone, or another endoscopy. Or you might want to pursue other food allergies. Or maybe all of the above...
  17. I agree with Patti. You're one of those people that manages to put the emotion you're feeling into your words. Your posts give a very clear picture of what you're experiencing both in your head and physically. If you decide not to stick around, at least consider writing short stories as a second job.
  18. I can't believe I go to bed at night and miss all these wild posts that are then deleted before I get here. I miss all the fun stuff [pouty face goes here]
  19. I was eating over at my brother's house and I asked to see the package the meat came in. He said "I checked it, it's fine" I said "Are you sure? It can be tricky" He said "Yeah, the only things listed are completely chemical, it's fine for you"
  20. I've had horrible periods for years and years. Advil/ibuprofen is a better choice for period pain for a variety of reasons, one of which is that it's harder to OD on. Just make sure you eat something every time you take it. Vitamin C, coffee, veggies are good for constipation. I just deal with the diarrhea because it feels better when my intestines...
  21. There is also the "personal interpretation" of what you're told. If he's feeling deprived because he has to alter his diet, he might have heard "7up" instead of "drink more nutritious fluids". As for the other points- I didn't realize how much other body parts hurt until I was far enough out of the depression and headaches to be aware of my body...
  22. You might want to cut out both egg and soy for a while. Not with the paranoia required for gluten, but be very careful. After you've been gluten-free for a while start adding back small amounts of egg. If you feel bad when you eat it, then you can't eat it. Some people find they can tolerate a little, or just whites, or just yolks. Then do the same...
  23. If it makes you feel bad, don't eat it. You can get all your nutrition from other sources, so there's no reason to eat gluten, if you don't want to.
  24. Consider yourself slapped upside the head! Waddyamean you're tired of being well?????
  25. I missed it, why can't you eat buckwheat? As for the other flours, you have to make mixes. Wheat has both starch and protein so mix high starch flours with high protein flours for your cooking. I make a big semi-random mix of whatever flours I have, making sure to limit the soy and amaranth because I can taste those and don't always want those flavors...
