ARCHIVED My Enterolab Results
Corkdarrr replied to Kody's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Cody, I was confused about the levels as well. My antigliadin was 20, but for casein I was only 12. So I thought, hey! Cheese isn't great for me, but it's still okay, right? But no. I guess not. I'm still confused why they even bother using numbers if a 12 is the same as a 20 is the same as a 200. But apparently they are. Just hang in there... -
I don't know...I suppose everything is skewed because I'm on this "special" diet right now. In the last week I've been eating mostly fruits and veggies, some rice, hummus... But that's just the past week. I think up until then I'd been getting plenty of salt. Hm.

So far today I've only had about 85 ounces of water...that's not even close to a full gallon (128oz). I will probably have at least one more bottle of water (16.9oz) before I go to bed. This is just the first day I've really kept track of how much water I drink, so we'll see where it goes. That doesn't seem like that much, does it? -Courtney

ARCHIVED Great List
Corkdarrr replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks! -
I was sitting on my hands trying to warm them up as I scrolled through the posts! I usually have more of a problem with my feet being super cold, though. -Courtney

Me, too. Every month since long before going gluten-free. Courtney

You are so unbelievably lucky to have found a doctor that will work hand-in-hand with you like that. Im' still in the process of 'interviewing' new doctors to find one who doesn't discount everything I mention about my diet. I need to move back to WI where I have a much larger support network in the (alternative) medical community 'cuz I've got NO ONE here...

ARCHIVED Everyone Thinks I'm Crazy...
Corkdarrr replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks Diana I will bring that up with the dr. Just cutting out the Excedrin this week has made a huge difference (after the first four, excrutiatingly painful days, of course...) But I am reminded that I started taking the Excedrin for a reason. So while I might have recently been experiencing some rebound headaches, it all started somewhere. I hope that... -
That's the one - diabetes insipidus. This is really all very interesting... I will definately start keeping track of how much water I drink on a daily basis. Thanks all Courtney

Carla, this may be a really dumb question, but then what's the difference between being thirsty and being dehydrated? Tarnalberry, I wish I could say I was working out. Sadly that's the last part of my plan to go into effect. Or that has YET to go into effect... I dont' know if it's two gallons..it's difficult to measure especially when...

ARCHIVED Everyone Thinks I'm Crazy...
Corkdarrr replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
The way I see it, if they had the kind of headaches I had, they would do just about anything to get rid of them too! Including giving up all these weird things...it's that desperation stage where you will try anything! (UN)fortunately something seems to be working. Which means there's something else I have a problem with. Which is good because I will probably... -
Diabetes was definately in the back of my head - which is why I mentioned to the dr that I've been peeing much more frequently than I used to. They didn't find any sugar in my urine so that ruled out diabetes. He said it could be something else that's related to diabetes, but I can't remember what it was called. Usually things like Gatorade or soda just...

ARCHIVED Everyone Thinks I'm Crazy...
Corkdarrr replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Okay...not everyone thinks I'm crazy. Just most people outside of my little celiac world do! It came up when I was invited to breakfast the other day. I said thanks but no thanks, there's probably nothing I can eat there (they all knew of the gluten thing). She said, "lizard's thicket has such a huge buffet, there's got to be something you can eat... -
So I saw a new MD last week and he did an overall eval. He told me that my urine wasn't concentrating and that it is possibly because I drink too much water. I dunno..it seems like most of my life I've struggled to drink enough water to satisfy the 8-10 glasses a day recommendation. And now I've noticed I'm thirstier (especially when glutened), and...

<<rant>> Well if people didn't think I was a nut before, they do now. I started an elimination/detox diet on Monday. I am no longer eating gluten (duh), dairy, soy, corn, eggs, tomatoes, peanuts, shellfish, beef, pork, caffeine, alcohol, or fun. I also cut out legumes simply because I eat so many of them on a regular basis that it's feasible...

ARCHIVED Dekuyper® Pucker® Sour Apple Schnapps- Is This Gluten Free?
Corkdarrr replied to breann6's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I found this on a past thread here dated July of 05: DeKuyper Our cordials are made with distilled spirits that are primarily made from a corn base. They may also from time to time, contain small amounts of small grains such as wheat or rye. It is known that Gluten can be found in the small grains such as rye, barley, oats, etc. However, it is generally... -
ARCHIVED Looking For Some Direction On Advocacy
Corkdarrr replied to Robina's topic in Publications & Publicity
Karen, I'm thinking about stealing your letters too - very well written! I am just as frustrated as the next person on here that no one has ever heard of it. I have been working with one of my professors on outlining an independent study for next semester and I'm now intensely interested in allergens, etc.. in the hospitality industry (my major). (The... -
ARCHIVED Chocolate Makes Me Depressed!

That's the saddest thing I've ever heard. I hope you can find a new comfort food that equals the deliciousness of chocolate... Courtney -
ARCHIVED Does It Do Any Good?
Corkdarrr replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think most businesses let the market dictate. And until they see a major response from the general public requesting the exclusion of major allergens, they are going to keep producing whatever is cheapest. Sad...I know. But it won't do any harm to keep on writing letters and emails and making phone calls. I'm in school right now for HRTM - Hotel, restaurant... -
Tito's is good stuff and seems to be fairly common now, too!

ARCHIVED Gluten Free......should I Be Feeling Better By Now?
Corkdarrr replied to kasia's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Kate, I had similar beginnings. My first week gluten-free was like some sort of beautiful dream. I had no idea how terrible I felt all the time because I didn't know it was possible to NOT feel so awful. Are there really people out there that feel 'good?!' And then things started slowly starting back up. Apparently I have a dairy thing and there is SO... -

Love it, Love it, LOVE IT! I am SO impressed that the US version is as good as it is. We have a knack for ruining things, but I love both versions for different reasons. Steve Carrell is hilarious.

Cody, You can get a naked burrito at Qdoba or Chipotle - they both have good websites that clearly list what is and isn't gluten-free. They list their meats as being gluten-free with a cross of CC. I ate at Qdoba last time I was home like four times in one week and had no problem. Gratned, any time you eat out it will be risky. Moe's is NOT gluten-free if...
